Has anybody else not made any signings or is it just the useless lot that run our club
We've signed one! that gives us 12 players so we can put out a first 11 + a sub keeper also that includes 3 first year pro's.

We haven't.
Wierd isn't it...other than the players who have accepted a new contract, or extended their current one, there hasn't been a peep regarding new signings...pretty sure that in the last few seasons the club has done its business early, as the likes of Barrow and Walsall seem to have been doing, but this year we haven't. I expect (hope) we will see some movement on that front during the run up to pre-season training starting...we certainly have a few gaps in the squad.

we've re-signed 1 (Josh Kay) who we had released, plus signed 6;- 4 of who were at Carlisle at one time or another. The other 2 were at Walsall at somepoint......

Pretty sure one of our videos said that pre-season begins July 1st, and Cooper wants a full squad by then. I'd expect us to announce a midfielder this week, and we're still a defender short. We'll probably pad out the squad with a few loan signings later in the window.

wouldn't be surprised if we try to get Mace Goodridge and Bobby Thomas back on loan from Burnley - but i can see Thomas going to an EFL 1 team next season.

adding in our new signings our team in theory could look like this;-

Paul Farman
Connor Brown
Mark Ellis
Matty Platt (NEC*)
Patrick Brough
Mike Jones
Tom White
NEC*
Jamie Devitt
Offrande Zanzala
Scott Quigley (NEC*)

NEC* = not ex-Carlisle

Obviously that won't be our first choice starting line up - but can you imagine the anger "up North" if we were to beat Carlisle and/or finish higher than them with 8 ex-Carlisle players.....

Our line-up could potentially be:

Dean Gerken
Luke Chambers
Tom Eastman
Tommy Smith
Ryan Clampin (*NEI)
Cole Skuse
Alan Judge
Luke Hannant (*NEI)
Frank Nouble
Freddie Sears

*NEI - not ex-Ipswich. There is also talk we're looking at Emyr Huws from Ipswich too.

Went through a purple patch of scoring for us last season when he was pushed into almost a CAM role. Has a good shot on distance but does not always get involved in the game as much as one would like. He is a decent L2 central midfielder though. Would have been happy for him to stay.

Was quite effective when played higher up the pitch but does have a big tendency of going missing in games
Arrives late in the box to notch a few useful goals too

The reason i mention them two across the river is because we struggle to get any young players because they are paying 3 or 4 times more to 18 year olds than we pay anybody. Older players or ones not good enough for PL academies are the top end of most clubs targets at this level. Being realistic.
Agree re the younger players and a lot of them get put on the scrap-heap at the end of it too. Think we need an age balance in the squad though, so good that we brought in Merrie at 22 and now Watson in his late 20s

How does he compare to Paul Lewis.

Early days yet. I am just letting the England national team provide any disappointment at the moment and letting Micky Mellon (and probably Steve Beck) get along with things player recruitment wise. I will judge the squad building in mid July.

Liam Ridehalgh confirms on twitter he's leaving Rovers. The itk poster on another forum suggested a better deal financially elsewhere. As he was not going to be a guaranteed starter next season, best for both parties and as he's been with us through a roller-coaster 8 years feels like part of the furniture. Best of luck to him at his next club, destination Bradford?

We're announcing someone in the morning so would make sense.

Are we trying to finish 2nd in the group?

I'm not sure the players we've signed are enough to transform one of the worst teams in the league last season into the best! We'll have a Top 10 budget, so anything around that area would be a good season.

Hoping we get some players sorted (or announced this week!) Training starts Thursday I think and we have no keeper, assume the lad from Hartlepool will be announced next week.

We had a busy week then nothing last week, rumours are virtually nil since DC had come in so interesting to see who rolls up.

It would appear posting your depleted, incomplete starting XI is trending - here goes;

GK: Richard O’Donnell

RB: Oscar Threlkeld
CB: Paudie O’Connor
CB: Niall Canavan
LB ???

DCM: Elliot Watt
DCM: ???

RW: Charles Vernam
CAM: Callum Cooke
LW: Abo Eisa

CF: Andy Cook

Those linked; Liam Ridehalgh (LB) and Yann Songo’o (DCM) could see those ??? filled.

Derek, reportedly wants 8 ‘new’ faces - without taking into account the loan market.

Lots of work still to be done.

i don't think there will be too many more signings for us;- 3 or 4 maybe (including a keeper) plus the usual loanees late on. So far we have;-

GK Paul Farman +1
LWB Remeao Hutton, Connor Brown, James Jones, Brad Barry(???)
RWB Patrick Brough, Bobby Burns (*), Connor Brown, Kgosi Ntlhe (???)
CB Mark Ellis, Matty Platt, James Jones, Patrick Brough, Kgosi Ntlhe (???) +1
Holding midfield;- Mike Jones, Jason Taylor (player/coach) + 1
Midfield;- Brad Barry (???), Tom Beadling, Tom White, Olly Banks, Bobby Burns (*)
Attacking Midfield;- Jamie Devitt, Josh Kay
Forwards;- Scott Quigley, Offrande Zanzala, Josh Gordon, Dmitri Sea, Luke James.

(*) loaned out to Glentoran last season - broke leg in November - might be back for pre-season.
(???) - offered new deal - but no news yet.

so cover in nearly all position apart from keeper

Hmm. I'm not convinced he's league standard. If today goes well I think we'd need an upgrade on him.

I like him, he's still relatively young, wins most aerial battles. decent threat at the other end but is prone to the odd brain fart but I'd keep him for whatever league we end up in.
