No. I think there’s been a big falling out and he kicked off because we dropped him. Looks like he’s just been told to leave. Was out of contract at end of the season and will be on more money at Stockport I’m sure. Strange timing mind

We havent lost one of the best players from the best squad in League 1 to a club 2 divisions lower, thats for sure.

By the looks of it Sarcevic wanted to play against his old team but Evatt dropped him. He’s kicked off about that then the day after during de brief/watching the game back he’s apparently been messing around, not paying attention and still in a huge mood about it. ..Evatt has gone mental at him saying he is supposed to be captain etc/ lead by example and told him in front of everyone that if he doesn’t want to be there he can leave. He’s rung his agent and the deal is done. He was one of Evatts favourites before this but he was out of contract at the end of the season and Stockport have apparently offered him 8k a week for 2 and a half years which is more than twice what we were paying him (and much more than he’s worth). I think his head may have already been turned. No way a deal like that goes through that quickly.

We didn’t get a fee for him so I think we’ve just decided to save his salary and get rid now before any unrest goes through the dressing room. It leaves us a bit light but I’m pretty sure he did something similar at Shrewsbury didn’t he? Mid contract. Some rumours kicking around that Doyle isn’t happy either but that wouldn’t surprise me as him and sarc are best mates. We will see how the squad reacts tomorrow I suppose.

Everybody seems to think we are paying big wages in League 2 but its nowhere near what some in that league do and probably not near the biggest in the division. Paying big wages in that league is a red rag to a bull. It makes the smaller clubs treat games like a cup tie. 4 top players is no good if the rest are bog standard NL quality.

Stockport are replicating exact plan as announced by Dale Vince OBE.
He had outline of three stars tattooed on back of his neck and said the stars would be inked in after each FGR promotion up to the Championship.

There's a house on the Overchurch estate on the Wirral that has had an England flag and 1 gold star painted on its sidewall for decades. Its constantly repainted but the gold paint hasn't been used. Nice optimism though.
