Yeah I think him playing in the centre of a back 3 for you is the difference, it is protecting him and making him focus on the things he is good at. He was constantly making mistakes in the 3 seasons here and couldn't pass wind - but he was always good at winning headers, just not anything else really.
Been brilliant for us. Think he’s definitely more suited to playing in a 3. Although I’d say his distribution is actually not bad, he can play a decent ball and find a wingback across the pitch etc. But in terms of his overall defending for us, he has been a rock.

We've plugged the gap created by Magnus Norman's injury by signing Mark Howard (lately of Scunthorpe).

He may have been poor last season but he does have ample opportunity here to do well. It's probably one last go before hanging up his boots but expectations are low, the number 1 shirt is there to be fought for, and his experience can only be a good thing given how young most of our defensive players are.

I think Lukas Jensen looks a decent prospect, so an experienced keeper as competition will be good for him. He'll hopefully be able to take advice on board from him.

Don't have much faith at all in our goalkeeper coach so if this signing is only to improve that side then that's a plus on its own.

I liked Howard when he was here but he was prone to a clanger or two, think he's serviceable at this level though.

Any Walsall fans on here?

Dan Scarr has been immense for us as 1 of 3 centre backs thus far. Seem to remember reviews from Walsall fans at the time as being glad he left and certainly shocked he'd got a L1 deal.

Funny how it works out at some clubs and not at others.

They were very pleased to see the back of keeper Liam Roberts and he’s been our best player this year too

Dazzlers been shit to be fair… only won 13 of his last 23 league games and drew 5 with us… should of listened to those Saddlers fans. Hasn’t improved us at all from a side that won 3 in 25. Useless.

Good to see them flying up the league since he’s gone though!

Danny Whitehead has left Vale to join Altrincham on loan. Only Burgess left of the unwanted three now.

Obviously not the room in first team squad right now but I still think it’s a shame with Burgess. He has some ability and is at the least a solid backup in this league. I would say there’s always a role for someone like that. Obviously needs to improve some stuff like his end product but still only young.

Lol fair comments lads Gordon and Scarr were ok for me Roberts not so much made some terrible mistakes and looked devoid of any confidence and Clarke probably has more to work with at Vale than he had here which is probably why he left in the first place as far as flying up the table goes its still early days yet.

Connor Ripley has gone to Salford an emergency loan. Fat, useless fucker, hopefully it's made permanent.

Did ok for Rovers, lack of end product in terms of goals and creating for others his main shortcoming. Also had a spell at right-back on which judgement is mixed. Think he was after more money than we were prepared to offer but may have dropped his demands with being without a club. Will be interested to see how this works out.

I thought Otis Khan did an exceptional job as a wing back and am really suprised no one has come in for him before now.

Interesting. He was good at the attacking side of that role, which helped when our main right-back Lee O’Connor wasn’t the strongest going over the half-way line. However, he found some of the defensive work harder, personally felt he was best deployed as an attacking midfielder

Kahn was not good enough defensively to play as a wing back. He was skinned on quite a few occasions by the better wide players at this level.

Which wing backs of ours don’t get skinned from time to time. Actually thought Otis’s quality going forward from the wing back position outweighed the negatives of his defensive game.

Aldershot (and Boreham Wood, apparently )
Aldershot have signed Gime Toure on a month’s loan, from Carlisle.
Any good, Carlisle fans?, why’s he out of favour? We have another french geezer here on loan, and he’s useless and uninterested, and we don’t want another.

He can be very good. He's inconsistent but works hard and tracks back at least. Early last season he was our best player, and sometimes the only player doing well when we had a few poor games but since then just hasn't shown that regularly enough to warrant a regular place in the squad.

The past year hasn't been the best for him, in part because he was renting a flat on his own in Carlisle and then during lockdown while other players could spend time with their families he was just stuck at home on his own. It affected his performances and we gave him a couple spells of compassionate leave so he could go to France and then self-isolate on return.

I do have some sympathy with him given the circumstances, not sure how I would have coped had I found myself living in a foreign city during lockdown where I didn't know anyone and wasn't allowed to socialise or travel, it wasn't like he was sulking or anything (he's French, there is a certain stereotype that probably didn't help him when he was going through that). He never looked uninterested, just, when a player is unhappy it will affect his performances. Maybe he has people he knows down there or his family, who I think live in Paris, can jump on the Eurostar and visit him.

Played for us before joining Carlisle.
He was offered another contract by us, But got an offer from Carlisle so joined them.
Can,t blame him for wanting to play in the EFL.

On his day he will rip defences apart, He,s one of the fastest players we have had.
He,s also big and strong, if you can get him sorted he will be a massive assett.
