Don't know what his mantra is. Rumour here is that we are strengthening by showing the door to the guy who would be the division's leading assistor if he wasn't creating chances for strikers who couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo.

Nothing wrong with us getting rid of players like Cooke and replacing them with Darlington players mate. Be getting rid of Vernam too and replacing him with someone from Bolton Woods next. Exciting times.

Would be odd considering he’s on loan with us and we want to keep him. If he leaves us, it will only be to go back to Newport. Don’t see the logic in recalling him from contender, only to loan him to another.

Possibly if we were to look to make a permanent signing bid? Wouldn’t make much sense otherwise from his POV to move with location etc in mind

looks like he is Ireland bound but Vale tick all the boxes as he would not need to move

Can see the other as Tranmere

Swindon maybe? Spent time there before.

I'd be very disappointed if that happens. Yes, he wasn't our first choice striker when Nombe was playing, but he has been invaluable and hopefully will be tomorrow. He also seems to love the club, if his twitter account is anything to go by. And I bleddy love him now

I'd be surprised if that were to happen for many reasons not least if he's happy at Exeter it would be a whole lot of upheaval to move a long old distance north to Vale. Doesn't really fit the profile of the type of player we seem to have been targeting previously either.

Anyway we've made it to the transfer window, these abandoned games have done us a big favour this month so get this right and I'm quite hopeful we will be in with a good shout of going up.

Happy new year to everyone by the way!

He doesn’t fit Garner’s profile. He’s into non scoring attacking players who can pass the ball sideways and backwards only. I guarantee any signings will be clones of what we already have - tiny, lightweight and not interested in actually winning a game but more interested in getting a top rate possession stat.

What a waste of 100k Khan was for Mansfield.

Any Northampton fans think you may go for O’Toole? He’s been superb for us and his contract runs out this month, we will match (probably better) anything he gets offered but him living in Northampton will give you guys a massive advantage.

We've sent Tyrone O'Neill to Darlington on loan.

I've seen some shite in my time but he's up there, looks like a baby giraffe trying to play football.

It seems like his days as a CM have now passed as hes been a CB with you guys and Burton. We have been solid defensively so it would likely be as cover which I cant imagine is of interest to him.

Would love to see him back as a CM controlling the game but cant see it as it stands. Think we will go for someone else as cover in CM.

As Jord says we’ve got a cracking centre half pairing so whether he’d want to come to sit on the bench I’m not sure. Do love JJOT though.

He’s definitely too good for cover at this level, he actually played in more of a CDM against Hartlepool and was brilliant again, I think he could start playing there more if we manage to keep our CB fit which hasn’t happened this season yet.

Lot of rumours on our forum that we are after two strikers, both started today for League two sides, one being a loan the other a cash bid.

Suggestions the cash bid is Telford (out of contract in the summer?) but seems unlikely to me. Stranger things have happened I guess if we offer a decent amount.

Our chairman has confirmed we've had three bids for Loft, wouldn't be a shock if one one was Vale

I'm sure lots of clubs will try with Telford but in terms of us its never going to happen in a million years. There is no way they would sell him to a promotion rival unless it is daft money and also with these things if clubs in L1 get wind of anything then they will be in like a shot and he'd go there.

Some of this depends on what happens with any outgoings from us. Supposing we were to sell Conlon during this window the one I'd be going for is Wootton at Notts County.

Only potential with Telford is the Clarke/Flickers link I guess, if we are attempting even if unsuccessful it would at least show our intent which is positive.

If Conlon goes it would have to be big money due to contract so would give us funds but not sure if he will at this stage. Clubs don’t spend big often in January and we don’t have to rush to sell to the first bidder with 2 and a half years still to run. We could sit tight until the summer and still command a large fee. Worry about Gibbons though!

Rumours are good fun but in fairness we’ve been fairly tight lipped in the summer until revealed so will have to see! Although the Wilson stuff did the rounds and Johnson and Benning links were given away by their clubs at the time.

In terms of outgoings I’d be probably letting Johnson out on loan, not sure Amos will stay although looked ok in the Pizza Cup, possibly Jake Taylor going?

What concerns me is if the dickheads running Carlisle United might look at wins over Stevenage and Scunthorpe and think everything is ok and we don’t need to strengthen this month.

Thar seems crazy but nothing would surprise me, particularly when David Holdsworth is involved.

Long shot - But one might be us, he fits our age criteria for players we spend money on - I believe he is from Kent, we need someone to come in and provide cover/competition for Drinan and Smith and Jackett won't use our other strikers.

As I keep saying, if Harry Smith doesn't play we don't have another forward who can take his role as the targetman.

How did that comment sound when you repeated it after todays game mate? My advice is to try and get a bit more optimism in your posts

Saw him play today impressed with him be a great signing for anyone at this level.

If that didn’t apply to all our previous home games it would sound churlish, I agree. But it did. That was the only game at the CG that didn’t appear to be sponsored by Mogadon

Our loanee keeper, Blondy Naa Noukeu, has been recalled by Stoke.

Big guy, popular around the club but couldn't get past Morris. Made a few starts mostly in Pizza cup and had a few howlers and a few decent saves.

Means we will be looking for a back up keeper and I would expect Blondy to turn up elsewhere in this league or the National.

Sounds like we're signing a striker called Sam Burns on loan from Blackburn

Well we desperately need him to be good

Was very good for us in his spell here 2 years ago, but obviously that's a degree below where you are. Rumours here are that he is in to replace Luke Charman, who is supposedly interesting Bradford City, Rochdale and Fylde. Reminds me a bit of my namesake - strong, direct, great feet, and can score all types of goal. Works hard as well. We got him after released by Newcastle, but his attitude has been spot on, and cannot see him not making it higher up with full time training. Caused Swindon no end of problems in FA Cup game we won, scoring twice. Signed a 2 year contract in summer, so hopefully we'll get a decent fee for him. Would have thought the Hangers would have taken a look, with their need for a forward, although if they have now gone long ball that wouldn't get the best out of him.
