Was very good for us in his spell here 2 years ago, but obviously that's a degree below where you are. Rumours here are that he is in to replace Luke Charman, who is supposedly interesting Bradford City, Rochdale and Fylde. Reminds me a bit of my namesake - strong, direct, great feet, and can score all types of goal. Works hard as well. We got him after released by Newcastle, but his attitude has been spot on, and cannot see him not making it higher up with full time training. Caused Swindon no end of problems in FA Cup game we won, scoring twice. Signed a 2 year contract in summer, so hopefully we'll get a decent fee for him. Would have thought the Hangers would have taken a look, with their need for a forward, although if they have now gone long ball that wouldn't get the best out of him.

I would've hoped so too, there's him, Cedwyn Scott and Langstaff all bagging locally, we'll end up with an U19 from the Boro.

I'd rate Charman above both Scott and Langstaff. They've excelled in a very good Gateshead team, whose system suits them down to the ground. Charman has had to do most of the work for himself, as well as put in a shift defensively. Really think he could be a gem for someone willing to take the punt.

Hearing that Theo Archibald has been recalled by Lincoln - Not a big suprise as they've had a poor season and also probably trying to make us buy him if we want him. Big blow for us though, thats both our main wing backs gone.

Crystal Palace youngster Reece Hannam will replace him on loan - he's apparently a LWB.

Doesn’t Connor Wood get a game for you?

Yeah not too much of a surprise. To say we're lacking goals and creativity would be being polite so any attacking player who's done ok in the league below is an upgrade at the minute. Plus, we need the bodies full stop tbh. We probably aimed too high in the summer and lost out on players to Wednesday and Birmingham for example.

He's going to be one of those players for us where it'll be a case of not working at all, or he comes back and we all wonder why he wasn't given a chance earlier.

On another note, O'Toole seems to have done what Bostwick did/has done.

Not so much since about October, rumours he and Jackett don't see eye to eye. For whatever reason he isn't first choice. Whenever he has played though he's not let the team down.

He played in the last game we played when we was low on numbers away at Tranmere and again didn't let the team down. Now that Theo Archibald has gone back to Lincoln he may be given a more regular chance again.

We’ve signed a right back from Altrincham.

I’m undecided whether this signing is to help us try and stay up, or forward planning for life in the national league next season.

what do you mean?

Transition from centre mid to centre back maybe? Bostwick was our emergency CB cover when he was with us, always did a job but we missed his presence in the middle of the park.

According to Kettering Town's twitter page, we've signed Luke O'Neill - was decent for your lot back in the day I seem to recall. No idea what he's like now.

Bit perplexed that Luke O’Neill isn’t already playing for a L1/2 team to be honest, he’s only 30.

We only had him for a season and sold him to Burnley for 300k + add ons.

Both.

I'm assuming Keith Millen isn't as pessimistic as you and therefore isn't signing players purely on the basis that they could do a job for us in the National League, having already written off this season... but the sorts of players we'd be looking to sign in the event of relegation would be much the same as the sorts of players we'll be looking to sign now. We have to be signing players who are better than National League standard either because they'll help us bounce back should we go down, or because they'll help us stay up, and even if we are thinking ahead to a season in the National League trying to get back up, we have to be thinking a step beyond that too to what next if we do bounce back.

Been on the fringes of our first team squad for a little while without really breaking in. Looked quite decent in pre-season/cup games but you can never really tell. From what I have seen of him hes actually more a number 10/creative attacking type than an out and out winger, not a lot of pace but likes picking up the ball and running at players.

Had a bit of a weird loan to Yeovil earlier this season, played 1 game then came straight back.

We've sent Tyrone O'Neill to Darlington on loan.

I've seen some shite in my time but he's up there, looks like a baby giraffe trying to play football.
I knew you were in trouble when you were signing players like him.
Weak as piss would be a compliment.

O’Toole had better offers elsewhere including from a higher division, makes sense why it’s not been sorted yet. I think ‘better’ may mean length of contract than money.

Or he could actually be very good and Millen is trying to build a side that will not only keep us up but challenge for promotion next season like Beech did when he first came in. We won't go down so cut out that National League nonsense.

Ryan Edmundson on loan from Leeds is our first signing, striker who's been at Fleetwood.

No idea if any good or not.

Edmundson is one we’re linked with every year, played at higher levels than this but doesn’t seem to stay there.

We had him on loan at the end of last year... he was rubbish. To be fair to him we were a rubbish team at the time and set up ultra defensive. But he didnt seem to have any stand out qualities and just didnt ever seem to look likely to score. Perhaps in a more offensive minded team and a division lower he will be ok.

Kion Etete being recalled by Spurs and sent to Cheltenham. A massive blow, hes been injured but when fit i would argue hes our most best player. The drop off from him to the rest of our strikers is huge. Need two strikers in now.

Hopefully he is someone who views his first job as trying to get into the box. If I have a mild criticism of almost all our forward players it is they have a natural inclination to try and drift out wide like they are a bunch of League 2 Thierry Henry’s rather than play through the middle.

Bit shit of Spurs to reloan a player at a club going for promotion to one, in a higher league, but going nowhere. We’ve all got loans and we’re all open to this kind of shit.

Just being a striker and fit is a start!

Think we are after 2 strikers aren't we? so this makes sense being the loan one linked. Good cover for Proctor's injury assuming he is still a few weeks off? (Not that we know as its been a month since we played as to the state of Wilson and Procs!)

Not sure what your point is fella. Its their player and they want him to play at a higher level. Its the downside to loans

So Northampton turn him, as far as Spurs are concerned, from a L2 player into a prospective L1 player and they just say ‘Thanks, we’ll now fuck up your promotion bid and give him to Cheltenham who are going nowhere’

Can’t see why they couldn’t wait til next season.
