Yeah if we’d never seen him play I’d take your opinion but I refuse to believe he’s rubbish now, it’s close to impossible to regress that much at his age.

For whoever asked if he was signing, the source that’s never been wrong yet says it’s happened and he got the Wearne signing right (albeit didn’t think it was going to be yesterday). I have to admit though, with each passing hour i’m worried he’s going to be wrong and we’re gonna have to side with Barrow fans on him when Doncaster sign him.

I dunno - bit strange that after such a wondrous spell at Grimsby, the best offer he could get was a loan stint at Barrow.

We'll see. I'd expect him to be out on loan by the end of January.

Both Crawley and Stockport should be as dissapointed as Salford constantly are for not getting promoted with their budgets I'd have thought.
Crawley had the smallest or second smallest budget in the league last season. With that budget we did well to finish mid table. We have brought in one player beyond what we could afford last season and appear to be losing our best centre back to Wrexham because they offer more money! I'm still not sure about our budget this season. Obviously improved but it had to.
Think you will find the top 7 teams in the national league are better than most in div 2 and its a harder league to get out of with only 1 team (county) who went up as champions with 94 points.I am quite confident that we will do well this year that was without the new signings. Now we have upped the ante. I am going to say we will finish in the top 3. I await your replys.
Crawley still hold the record points tally for that level (I believe) and that was with Grimsby, Luton, Mansfield and Wimbledon. We just about snuck into third place the next season. Trust me. There is a step up.

That doesn't mean you won't do well, it just won't be quite as easy as you think.

We're going to turn Rooney into a pantomime villain and he's going to score a last minute freekick after doing absolute nothing all game.
I,d forgotten about Rooney, scored an absolute pearler v us last season.
After been sent off against us season before, i think.

That was a disaster of a game, Palmer got sent off for a soft “high foot” then Rooney must have realised he had a dentist appointment to get to so decided to call the ref a c***.

Beginning of the end for Gannon that too, as apparently he read them the riot act and slagged them off in his post match interview and certain players had a cry to our Director of Football.

A bit more gossip this evening:

We're allowing Otis Khan to join Grimsby on a 2 year deal - He was ok for us and ok for Walsall last season, but he doesn't really fit into Wellens 4-3-3 formation as we have better players in his preferred position. Useful signing for Grimsby. Announced tomorrow apparently.

We've been trying to sign and have offered contracts to:

Curtis Davies
George Moncur
Moses Odubajo
Gavin Massey
James Norwood - Unlikely to happen though as he wants to stay in League One.

Central midfielder Ethan Coleman has been circulated to the National League to join a club there on a season long loan, which is what was expected to happen.

Gillingham want to sign Harry Smith - We've slapped a £70k price tag on his head, which Gillingham don't want to pay. So as it stands, he's staying with us.

Encouraging! It seems like we are shopping cheaper this summer than I'd anticipated so far.
Indeed. Somewhat concerning after our highest average attendence in years. The window is young i guess.

How reliable is that?

I won't be panicking until the week the first game kicks off. We brought in some excellent players just before the new season last year so I'm still hopeful the bigger guns might be with us later in the window.

Jeez. Some of the wages these would command. We had 2'000 higher average attendance than Leyton Orient last season and we're getting grilled for offering a better wage and location for a Northampton defender.

Can tell you for a fact that Challinor is a significantly better manager even if you won’t believe it until this season.
I really don't care how good you think Challinor is, you're the one wanting to get into a whose manager is better contest. Ours has won a world cup.

Thats what happens when you offer 17k a week and a bungalow to a League 2 defender.

To be honest though that was our first season in non league and we were absolute dogshit for a lot of it, without Alan Connell winning us quite a few games by himself we’d have been in deep shit that season.

Although we did have a pretty good opening day away win though......:shifty:

I don't think I've ever seen a Vita building that's a bungalow, usually tall skyscrapers in most cities.

Curtis Davies has always said he would be more than happy to sign for us as his last club for a sensible wage as he's from the area.

Odubajo started out with us and we sold him for £1million 8 years ago and is again from the area, think he's the main target.

Massey we had for one season in 2016/17, but I reckon he will play higher.

Moncur is an interesting one as I've been told he was basically done, but Charlton have thrown a big spanner in the works and want him too.

I’d be surprised if you got Moncur, one of our ITKs said we spoke to him last month and he said he didn’t want to drop to league 2, but I suppose location could be a factor if no one else comes in for him. He’d be a very good signing at this level.

Been talked up quite a lot recently and a lot of our fans were hoping he’d be in contention for the #1 spot here.

I know he impressed at Ross County last season.

Will be following his progress with interest this season.
