Sorry Swindon fans but Harries is appalling. Absolutely no idea why Garner signed him and continued to play him. NL standard on a good day
Tbf, Gassy. You said the same about Garner, the same about Kyle Bennett and now Harries.

You should say Garner was useless for you
Bennett was useless for you
Harries was useless for you

You lot thought signing Pork Pie Pitman last season was a coup!

As with all signings its really a case of wait and see. He played 47 times for Rovers and so their fans have seen enough of him to be able to judge how he was for them. I'm hopeful our coaching staff have seen something that means he'll be able to work within the way we want to play.

Rovers fans, what are his strengths and weaknesses? Does he have any pace, is he good in the air etc? Lindsey described him as a left sided ball playing centre back, is that accurate or just manager speak?

I think you're doing yourselves and Mansfield a disservice there. Like every biggish club that goes down there becoming the big game of the season for every opposition can be wearing on a team.

We lost McCalister at the end of that season (16 goals no pens) but signed Tyrone Barnett who was on fire. We sold Tubbs to Bournemouth (his home town club) for £800k and Barnett for £1 1/4 mil in January but didn't adequately replace them and the Evans jumped ship before the end of the season but at least two of that team played at championship level and lots in league one.

No, we were poor that season other than Alan Connell. When I look back at that squad from the first season and compare it to our three most recent seasons in that division (all either playoff finalist/winning sides), the difference in quality is quite obvious. You did have Fleetwood, Wrexham and Kiddy that season that were all decent though which you didn't mention. Your side that season was ruthless. I think of all the sides that went up when we were in that division, I'd say the Fleetwood side that pipped Wrexham was the best man for man. The Luton side that went up were the most entertaining. But you lot were the ones that won it at a canter, you were just absolutely relentless. That title never looked in doubt. We somehow beat you on that opening match and then I think you only lost once or twice after that?

I actually think that Crawley side was the best in the conference during our dark days, Evans had a lot of money but like you said they were ruthless.

The year we won it we finished on 95 points, Kiddy on 93 the poor bastards!

Yeah, I guess all title winners are worthy of being in the conversation. I wouldn't argue much against that Crawley team, I just think Fleetwood had a handful of players like Vardy and Pond that were just on another level. That Luton team that had Gray and Benson up top used to win every match 6-2 or 5-3 or something too I swear. Mansfield/Kiddy was a great two horse race as a neutral. Remember your last match of the season being on BT.

That was a great season! we finished 4th on 89 points i believe, then kiddy got done by wrexham in the playoffs and we beat you (1-0 both legs) then we done wrexham in the final 2-0 (jollie & o'conner) happy days.

Yeah we had you on the last day as well didn't we? You rested your starting XI whereas we played ours and beat you easily but then were dire in both playoff legs. Fully deserved to go out to you! That entire season the whole division was constantly saying "Newport will fade", "Newport will drop out the playoffs", etc. I think even now some people are only just coming round to the fact that you aren't going anywhere!

That's what we were told when we signed him from Swansea. Nothing against the lad he is just poor all-round. I honestly thought he would sign for Bath or Yeovil.
I dont agree with the slagging off he is getting on Twitter though, I see he even had to call some fans out on it.

Sounds like Omar Bogle is 100% on his way out, Grimsby bound?
Like I said further up, I hope not. Seems his attitude has gone down the shitter since we had him it seems. I reckon we've recruited well up until now, but I'm not hugely excited by Khan/Bogle.

I like him, he's not the same player you once had but more than capable of scoring goal in this league still.

Twitter is a total cesspit mate, I'm on it but very very rarely post on it. I used to think it gave a good gauge of input from fans but in the main it's just sad little kids and weird middle aged men who have nothing better to do than try and wind as many people up as possible on it.

Okay that's pretty encouraging then. He looked like he started really well for you then tailed off. Does that not tell the whole story? What sort of system did you use him in?

Our players gave up after we were safe from relegation and not heading to Wembley in the Pizza Cup, hard to draw too much from players performances who looked like they were going through the motions, lead by a manager way out his depth.

Agreed, its not needed just shows the fans up to be total idiots. Wankers like them are given too much of a voice on various platforms these days

Yeah I'm another that skips over the footballing opinions of the twitter weirdos without a profile picture that give themselves a name like 'Sensational [insert player name here]'.

Yeah me too, however Newport'll get a tune out of him I bet. Where are you getting that from? I'd read Solihull about 30mins ago.

Thanks George, I guess that's what we're looking for in a Centre back mainly as we're going to be looking to play out from the back. Obviously his weak points are concerning but you never know, a fresh start could be the making of him.

Who's Leyton Orient's backer?
Honestly, I think we're just pretty well run these days rather than being bankrolled like some other clubs.

Our chief Owner (Nigel Travis) was (or is, I'm not sure) CEO of various US food companies, Dunkin' Donuts etc. He's not crazy rich but a very stable, sensible, smart business individual with a few mil. tucked away.

Kent Teague, east London's favourite charismatic Texan has been backing us for a few years along with Travis he's was a Microsoft big shot years ago and has a wealth fund, again, rich but I don't think it's anything crazy. They'll both be running at a loss each year but despite being business men they are both genuinely fond of the club.

Then more recently we secured some outside investment to the tune of £8.7m from a collection of individuals who I guess want to buy into the vision and hope we get up the leagues.

The Moncur signing looks fantastic and seems to be a statement of that intent.
