Twitter accounts linking Neil Byrne with Tranmere. We are going to have no one left at this rate.

Very solid defender for this level, one of our more consistent performers last season.

If there is any truth in it I’d be gutted. Also wonder wtf is going on at the club.

Yeah, I guess all title winners are worthy of being in the conversation

We’re not :)

Twitter is a total cesspit mate, I'm on it but very very rarely post on it. I used to think it gave a good gauge of input from fans but in the main it's just sad little kids and weird middle aged men who have nothing better to do than try and wind as many people up as possible on it.

Wondered where Carver had got to.

Yeah, I guess all title winners are worthy of being in the conversation. I wouldn't argue much against that Crawley team, I just think Fleetwood had a handful of players like Vardy and Pond that were just on another level. That Luton team that had Gray and Benson up top used to win every match 6-2 or 5-3 or something too I swear. Mansfield/Kiddy was a great two horse race as a neutral. Remember your last match of the season being on BT.
The point being none of those really good sides were good enough to blow this league away. They all did well but they were the best to come up. County will do well but without serious investment again I don't think they are promotion candidates (I said the same about Sutton last year so what do I know!).

Re Bogle.

He always does well against Crawley (bar steward) but I've seen lots of stuff stating he aint good enough or is too lazy so I have my doubts. Will he come to us? I doubt it with all the forwards we have at the moment. We could do with a real back to goal striker and that ain't him but we would need to trim before that.

It has been confirmed that Jordan Tunnicliffe will be leaving Crawley. He just had an injury hit season (as did nearly everyone at Crawley) but nearly ever present with us and others previously. Team of the year season before last. Last rumour I saw was he was going to Wrexham. Obviously, we don't have as much money as them. He's a Brummie so Wrexham is not that close. Good centre half at this level.

Moncur is a moderately pleasing signing. Centre mid by far our weakest position last season and he’s a massive upgrade over Kyprianou who we flogged for £300k. I know he’s not the hardest worker on earth, but with Craig ‘Supertoddler*’ Clay coming back from injury that shouldn’t be a problem.

*runs around after the ball like a demented two year old and kicks it/the oppo player with whatever foot gets there first

A fair point but they were all useless for us. I always maintained that Bennett was a L2 player and I was right on that. Where is he now btw? How did he do at Grimsby? I don’t think I’ve been proven wrong.

Garner was awful and I stick by that. He did well last year tbf.

We also said Broadbent & Menayese were good and we were right there too. Pitman wasn’t exactly a failure tbf, saved us many times last season.

Harries has been poor under every manager. His passing is solid tbf for L2, so your coach isn’t wrong. He has a decent solid tackle in him but his marking, heading and positional play is awful. One of those players where every time he makes a mistake it’s a guaranteed goal
Bennett did well for us, though. That’s the point I’m trying to make. Broadbent has been released by Eastleigh, Meyanese was never better than adequate.

Tom Nichols was also useless for you but done well since leaving.

See the pattern here. Tbh, I’d expect most L2 CBs to have a mistake or 2 in them, hence why they’re playing there. Depends on how teams set up

Haha, well we missed your recent little dip into the Non-League. Have no idea how you were, did you rag it then? Or were you actually decent?

Ragged it. Drew nearly as many games as we won. Most wins by the odd goal because Josh Koroma did something incredible out of nowhere. Had some good players (Jobi McAnuff, Macaulay Bonne, Marvin Ekpiteta, James Brophy) but didn’t play much football.

300k is the rumour would break our transfer record if theres any truth in any of it lol
Not a chance that they will sell him for that, still 2 years left on his contract.

The thing with Bennett is that he starts off well with clubs then nosedives. We signed him in Jan and he was great for the rest of the season, then awful from the following season. Portsmouth fans said similar things.
Nichols had to drop down a league as he flopped here in L1

So it’s not just Twitter bollocks?

Surely questions have to be asked what’s going on? Selling every asset to be replaced with players from second tier in Scotland on the cheap no doubt.

We knew Timi & Mols were going & I'm not really bothered about lazy arse Bogle, but bloody hell we need to keep Byrne.
He had a very good season & we need to keep at least a couple of our better players to build around & I'd be seriously hacked off if he does go.
Hartley can't simply bring in a new team & start from scratch.

They’re gonna have a hard time explaining the logic in selling Byrne, I’d rather keep him another season and lose him for nowt at the end of his contract.

I think todays kick around showed us we are about 8-10 players short still, need a serious week of solid signings.

Stockport County.
Lad on our forum said he knows Byrne and he lives on the Wirral and he would love a move closer to home. So if Tranmere came in I imagine he'd push for it.

Random rumour for two completely random teams on our forum but don't see why he would make it up.

We have about 8-10 to many so you can have our cast offs if you want, as Carlisle are messing about and not taking any!

What pattern? The one you’ve made up and put words into our mouths? I said Bennett would do well for you as L2 was his standard. I said Broadbent & Menayese would do well for you. Both did.

Nichols wasn’t useless for us, under Coughlan he was excellent. He then dropped a division and scored 20 goals over 2 seasons, hardly great, but solid.

What you clearly fail to see is how we comment that players at L1 standard aren’t good enough and then drop a division and find their level, you then take a bat and try to beat us with it as having a pattern, when in reality they weren’t good enough for our squad. I’ve seen Harries in L1 & L2 and he’s been awful in both.

At the end of the day, you’ve signed our 3rd/4th choice CB from a team in L2 last season. Hardly the type of season to accelerate you to automatics next year, is it?

Or was our squad just that good? Then again, our squad couldn’t have been good if there’s a clear pattern in your eyes of us having bad players that are so good elsewhere :err:. Must have been pure luck!

Haha yeah I saw that yesterday as well. Are they having a laugh or are they actually annoyed at him?
Taking the piss, I think most of them headed straight to Marbella together after the season finished

There's no way a club with ambition would fail to keep any of the four, plus Oates last year.

There's just no long term planning, penny pinching and shit or bust tactics like sacking Lee, getting Hartley and his Scots signings. If they don't work out it's going to be a painful season. I can see why we're tipped to struggle because as it stands it looks that way.

A month to go before the season, let's see who we get but if recruitment ends up like last season, no doubt we're officially in the basket case category.

I’m half with you, there’s not a great deal we can do about out of contract players, I don’t think we should bend over for them and give them whatever they want, Timi, Mols and Oates last year I’d liked to of kept here, but for all we know they could’ve been asking for a silly amount to stay.

The Byrne rumour has come out of nowhere though, even if he is wanting to move back closer to home, fuck him, he’s our player, he signed on for two years and unless we get a daft offer for him we’d be stupid to sell, guess we’ll see.

After a long wait Anthony Georgiou finally announced on a 1 year deal.

He will provide competition for Conor Wood at left back.
