What’s he like? Been told he’s signed to ‘provide competition’ so sounds a bit of a back up
Passes 90% of the time sideways and backwards. A useful backup though as can play left full back or in the middle.

We could and talked to him but our local journo briefed a few weeks back that in the end we decided against signing him as we got CLE and Wright combined for the same wage and we went for depth in an already strong area.

It looks like his agent tried his luck with perhaps both of us and had now come back with his tail between his legs.
Wouldn't that make coming to EP a little less attractive? Since there's greater competition for a place. I know CLE and Wright aren't the same standard but they'll still be breathing down his neck.

We had Mark Howard, most recently Carlisle keeper and Kyle Jamieson ex Oldham as triallists today. Howard’s already been commented on here fairly favourably, although was expecting we’d be looking at a younger keeper to be coached up by Joe Murphy.
do not sign Kyle Jamieson he's shit

Yeah Odimayo is a decent prospect i reckon, never let us down at CB or RB/LB. Is pretty pacy, good in the tackle, pretty much a handy Andy. And at 22 a good age to work on his development. I wanted him to sign our contract so it's a little concerning him going to Northampton, who on paper sound like they are 'going for it' more than us after both teams lost out in the play off semis last season.

Hartlepool fans.... we had a Q+A with Pete Wild last night and apparently Luke James has left the club... so expect an announcement of Pools signing him shortly.

He'll end up at Gateshead or South Shields, we're not that stupid and/or desperate to sign him for a third time.

Hartley did an update on incomings and outgoings yesterday, basically said Mols and Timi had better offers, Bogle wanted a 10th signing on fee to add to the bank and Byrne got engaged and wanted to move back home, have bids in for two to three players and hoping for 8-10 signings altogether, some were supposedly imminent but it's getting late in the day now so maybe tomorrow?

Our gaffer sounds like he’s got the gift of the gab a bit, plus we can point to the centre halves who’ve had success here recently.

Charlie Goode off to the prem with Brentford, Lloyd Jones was in demand after we got relegated and is now a regular in League 1 and obviously last seasons pairing both getting big praise/accolades (team of the seasons etc). Seems to be a decent place for a CB especially with Calderwood there too, can make the case we’re the club better placed to make him a better player.

Heard a whisper Sean Dyche may be back involved with the club on the coaching side

Any of those Hartlepool bids for Canavan do we reckon? Played in our friendly today.

Sestonpoolie has been knocking it out the park with the rumours he's been getting fed, don't think he's missed yet? 3/3 so far reckoned him and Cooke who left Bradford were next up?

Neill Byrne was on the bench for our first friendly in Portugal, got a flight home and was in a Tranmere kit the next day so I suppose anything is possible these days?

Good player and lad is Cooke, hope he does well. Local side for him as well so would be a good move all round. Has weaknesses mainly goal scoring as an attacking mid and if he plays deeper he’s not really a tackler, but as they say players don’t play at this level if they don’t have weaknesses.

Cooke would be an unbelievable signing for Hartlepool, with respect he should be playing higher up the pyramid and I’m still baffled as to why it didn’t work out here. For me he walks into most starting 11’s in this league.

I'd be a bit disappointed to lose him as he is a decent defender at this level as long as he has some pace alongside him.

From my reading, it seems his biggest weakness is playing out from the back, which isn't something we're exactly known for, is that a fair assessment?

Yeah that's probably fair. He certainly wasn't the worst. Not great in the air either but not hideous. I think you've got a good player on your hands.

we've apparently got a couple of loanees that we've not announced yet - the only thing we know so far is that one is from Sheff United who we often get players from.

I’d be hoping it was Kacper Lopata. Very promising centre back who will stand out at this level.

Jordan Green (Dulwich Hamlet - FW)

Absolute pony, him. Proper headless chicken.

Ronan Darcy pick of the triallists for us, apparently. Plays for Bolton but not wanted there.

Lost his way since Evatt came to the club. Played a lot in lge1 when we was in administration
Him and Politic were the 2 stand out players that season. Was out on loan in Norway last season
Still a year left on his contract but the fact that he is willing to go out on trial to get fixed up speaks volumes for his attitude............wont be a fee and you will get a player who will take to lge2 football no problem

We had 3 trialists yesterday neither of which were him - one was from Southampton u-23's. one from America and not sure about the 3rd one (a full back).
The one loanee we have announced so far though centre back Sam McClelland from Chelsea looks some player though - you can tell why he's already a full Northern Ireland International.

Appears us and a handful of other clubs are trying to sign Sam Sherring from Bournemouth. Sounds like the highly rated klaxon may be being dusted off for whoever signs him.

It’ll be good to see him sign for you, you’re doing absolute wonders this transfer window on an absolute shoestring
