Still just the two signings for frugal Mansfield. Boring.

Ace signing, was gutted when it looked like we had ended our interest in him after signing a lad from York.

Just need to trim the squad a bit and then bring in a new left sided CB and pacy striker and I’ll be very happy with our business.

I get what you’re saying. And if it was this divisions best players he was behind then i wouldn’t question it, but what if middle national league is his level? We need League 2 quality players, not players that couldn’t cut it at the top end of the league below.

I believe in our manager, so I’m hoping this is a master stroke from him. But I’d be lying if I said I’m not slightly concerned.
Also he wasn’t behind the NL’s best defender as much as I love Ash.

One of the players ahead of him was released and the other two won’t start for us on the opening day as we’ve upgraded ourselves.

He played 20 plus times in League 1 for Accrington the season before last so there is the hope for you.

Apparently Olli Shaw, breaking our record transfer fee to get him.Altough admittedly that isn't a lot.
Callum Cooke,Niall Caravan & Leigh Griffiths coming in over the next couple of days.

Richie Barker from Mansfield back in the day wasn’t it, about £80k?

Poor bloke didn’t want to go, and that 80k went straight to the prick Haslam that forced it through.

He was a great signing for us.
We’d heard he was signing & we were at Mansfield for his last game for you lot,a 1-0 win for us.
You could see he was leaving by his reaction with the Mansfield fans at the end of the game, which was made even more memorable by having a few pints in the Bull Farm Social Club!

6/1 for relegation for you lot, looking like nice value
Goodness me, don’t set him off this early in the relegation stakes.

At least wait till ten games in or something

Bull farm social club hahah!

Barker did a interview other year, from what I recall he was devastated being forced out as he was a bit of a legend here, he was as mentioned a proper old school striker. Loved a header!

Did a podcast interview with ex player Micky Barron and our old media guy who has just left Barra, about a year or so ago as well and explains how he was forced into the move on that as well.

Turned out to be a great move for us as we got promoted that season and he was a great signing.

Fox on 7k. Everyone else on £500 a week and a free trip up the lift tower each week.

No one playing for the love of football?

Games gone

They should club together and get that shit tower knocked down.

Oi. That’s a piece of history there, Elton John has abseiled down that. There’s a joke in there about him being astride a big pole but it’s half 10.

Definitely seem to have a competitive budget but as you say, feel like all the additions so far have been really smart business.

Ben Fox
Lee Burge
Ryan Haynes
Danny Hylton
Akin Odimayo
Sam Sherring

Helps that we cleared out a huge amount of dross, including a few who signed when we went up to L1 on bigger wages.

Yeah some good business there, plus re-signing McWilliams was huge. Keep him fit and I think he’ll be a standout player in the league next season.

Yeah he was quality when he was on it, which was for a good while at Mansfield.

I think the thing I’m happiest with is the continuity.

The first game of the season we could have 6 or 7 players who finished the season with us starting again. Same manager, coaching staff. Don’t think I’ve seen a summer at Sixfields with so much continuity.

Adding to an already pretty good team rather than ripping it up and starting again.

Feels like Sherring was Stockport's fall back option after Horsfall, so seems a good enough replacement for him. Would expect him to play with Guthrie, and Admimayo to play right back at least til October with McGowan out after surgery. Also expecting a new attacker in the next day or two but we don't have any names.
