Another youngester signed - Jacob Wakeling. Young forward released by Leicester.

Our transfer policy is concerning me a bit now.

he was on loan at Barrow the 2nd half of last season - he didn't impress - he was too weak at the time and i'd be surprised if he's strengthened up enough over the summer. Potentially he's a good player - but he probably needs 2-3 seasons in the NL before playing in EFL2 again.

4 games on loan at Barrow towards the end of last season. Yet another youngster, hopefully the squad is going to be padded out with some experience soon, I believe we'll do our best business later in the window so not panicking, yet!

Shirley must have a decent wedge of wages left so would expect some more players of some sort of pedigree.

You would think so. There is no way we'll be going into the season with such inexperience. There will be more senior players, I'm sure of it. I reckon Massey might go out on loan as we have Parsons, Wakeling, McKirdy and I assume another senior striker to come in.

Good move for all that, I reckon. He's not gonna bag loads of goals but he can be an effective player for Eastleigh if they put him alongside the right kind of players. Very aggressive in all the right ways, won't get bullied and will work his arse off. Lack of creativity and composure will stop him being a top player at that level. Did a job for us and we went up though. Hands down the best player I've seen in a Town shirt at running the clock down.

You obviously saw a better version of him than we did so I’ll take your word on that.

Maybe he will carve out a decent career for himself at Eastleigh but I’d be amazed if he ever played at football league level again.

I think you'll make the top three next season. After watching him in the play off's I would love for Rovers to have signed Mcwilliams.

Lucky we didn’t lose him, only the large tribunal fee putting people off

Yeah I wouldn't have wanted him at this level I don't think. He strikes me as the sort of player that looks crap if others around him aren't pulling their weight. Definitely not one that's getting you out of your seat. Bring him off the bench for a side that busts a gut and presses hard and he'll stretch teams though. I'd imagine he'll be a starter for Eastleigh so will be interested to see if he can take that chance as he was only ever really an impact sub for us.

He did try, I’ll give him that.

When I watched him last season I found myself wondering what he’s actually good at. He isn’t fast, isn’t skilful, isn’t particularly strong, not good in the air, doesn’t hold the ball up and is poor in front of goal.
Even he was decent in just one of those areas there’d maybe have been something to work with. But no.

Glad we’ve got him off our wage bill. I knew once you came up you wouldn’t take him permanently so pleased someone else did.

Maybe a divisional difference but he looked strong and fairly quick for us. But yeah I'm also glad he's got a club too.

Yeah I notice eastleigh describe him as pace and power.

I mean, he wasn’t weak, but just won’t what I’d call strong… somewhere in between. Never saw any pace though, I think most CUFC fans would vouch for that.

Carlisle fans linking us with Omari Patrick on Twitter. No idea where that’s come from or why we’d want him, so probably a load of nothing.

He’s good, so that’s why you’d want him. Wide player but cuts in, bags of pace and strong, 9 goals last season despite only joining in January. So there’s a potential 20 goal man there if he continues that form and plays a full season.

But I’d be shocked if we let him go, unless it’s an excellent offer.

Sean Scannell has signed a 6 month extension as we put him through rehab on his torn Achilles. Really hope it works out for him, would be a real asset on the pitch still but as a bloke he’s proven himself to be a properly decent guy and deserves a break

The itk fan on one of the Rovers forums says we’re interested in a wide player who impressed against us last season and is still under contract. Don’t know if they’re referring to Patrick, the home game was so overshadowed by the referee that can’t recall who played well for the Cumbrians. However Rovers are lacking pace further forward so if it were to be him, would be very welcome for that aspect of his gane.

Pete Wild said after our game today that Canavan is going nowhere - so Poolies can forget that one.

Thought he would have retired injured by now. Always in the treatment room during his spell with us. He is lucky you have extended his contract

25 minute pre-season interview with Paul Hurst yesterday on Radio Humberside. Says we're looking at bringing in 6 or 7 more. Also says we need to be realistic about McAtee, so I think we'll need to brace ourselves to be losing him at some point in the next year.

Hurst seems in very good spirits though, very happy with the shape we're in. Seems relaxed and mentioned a few times how this is the most amount of players he's ever retained as a manager. Says Erico Sousa was close to getting a deal but ultimately it sounded like he thought he wasn't quite ready for L2.

We've got one player that is close to signing and another couple that could be done by Friday but could also quite easily not see any sign.

Worryingly, we're hearing the same lines we did last season about there being no strikers available in our price range.

Yeah we hear this every year with strikers and it’s really frustrating to hear, I think for all Hursts skills, picking out top strikers isn’t one of them IMO. We can point to Bogle and Amond but they’re two examples of what must be 30+ attempts at getting a proper 20 goal forward in. I know it’s not easy, but we do seem to struggle more than most.

Played 14 times between January and April for Cambridge before having his loan cut short, Bonner wanted him back. Good enough for me.
I'm not so sure we did want him back. Rumours we want Michael Morrison so we have have enquired for him as back up for that but not one I'd lose sleep over if I were Bonner.

He will do well in league two. He's quite small but likes to get on the ball and bring it out but his passing isn't great.

Your not on your own, most Clubs are looking for that elusive striker in every division, it just gets harder the lower down you get. If you can get a 15+ and 10+ then you will be in the playoffs, getting a 20+ striker these days is virtually as rare as rocking horse shit
