Yeah it's often the case they can't play against the parent club.

There's a possibility it could be agreed he could be recalled in January maybe but I doubt at any time. Doesn't every team have to name a squad on the 1st September?

I'm wondering the same about us loaning Barclay to Carlisle. Got a feeling he's going to be a good player, just not fallen for him here.
As i said above Flynn dose not like or rate him, According to some of thier fans.

Doesn't mean if Walsall are struggling they won't want him back if he's putting a decent shift in here

I’d probably want better in league 1, but he could be one of those if he cuts out the rush of blood that could play higher.
That’s my concern. The last thing we’d need is a ‘keeper who throws away a few points when we’re in a much tougher league. At least he has potential and he’s young for a ‘keeper so I’m sure he can improve as he gets more games.

Bass probably made the best save I've ever seen live on his debut last season - with his face no less. Check out the highlights from our away game at Walsall.

Overall, I agree with Wilsden, he's got potential for sure and was always a positive and confident type of keeper.

We are well stocked in midfield and have brought in three more this summer. It appears Grimsby have brought in three in too though? Two for a fee?
Two midfielders (Morris and rubbish Green). We definitely paid a fee for Green but it didn't actually mention that on the Morris announcement on the OS. Still a year left at Burton but doesn't say whether we paid a fee or not. It's possible they let him go, but not sure.

We also brought Holohan outside the window last season and Clifton has extended his deal and can play there. Still think we might see one more come in CM though.

One or two players may well surprise more than a few.

I’m feeling more like this to be honest, I genuinely don’t see us struggling this year, but we’re still lacking upfront, that’s the biggest concern for me, Carver isn’t great (and injured again) Grey is not the finished article and Umerah is untested at this level.

On Hartley he just isn’t a very interviewable person, he’s generally short and concise in his answers, often times seemingly grumpy whilst being interviewed by our media man who just throws him soft balls every interview.

Yes,a couple more decent forwards & I think we'll more than ok.
I like Hartley,no messing & straight to the point,a million miles away from the previous waffling incumbent.
Admire your optimism gents, I'm giving the club until the Walsall game to see who we get in before making up my mind. As it stands we are short but let's see what the situation is by then.

Id love to know what qualifies as serious cash for a centre half in this league. Not doubting you at all but it's intriguing.
3.5k is a fair whack for a CB at this level I’d say

Apparently our offer to Jack Payne was somewhere north of 5k so it sounds like we have used some of that budget to strengthen with an experienced centre back. I do think paying players that kind of money in this division is crazy, I just hope the board aren't pushing the boat (that boat being HMS piss the league of course) out too much!

I think we will get a couple of forward players, And Carver will be loaned or gone.

He's good at what he does for the audience he's aiming for, social media types, teens, it's grating for anyone over 30.

Rumblings that Rovers may be signing Theo Robinson, most recently at Bradford. Pretty uninspiring if it does happen.

I think that would be genuinely the worst signing of the season. The lad will try his best, but sadly his best isn't anywhere near good enough. I wouldn't even take him as a bottom end National League club. Hopefully it isn't true.

I wouldn’t give the lad any stick as he always tried, but his best days are long gone. I’m sure his other most recent club Port Vale would back up our comments that he can’t trap wind let alone anything else. He may score a belter then disappear though so it’ll probably be against us or another of his former sides, it was Swindon last season who fell victim to his one league goal.

I would say he is quite probably our worst signing in recent times. The only reason we ended up with him was that John Askey by chasing after Nicky Maynard for so long caused us to miss out on Jamille Matt (who had agreed terms pending what happened with Maynard) so signed this stiff instead. Who knows different system maybe he can do something but don’t think there are many fans of his last two clubs who would give any positive reviews.

Rumours doing the rounds we’re in for Danny Johnson who’s at Mansfield for a fee.

He had a good record at Orient, looks like he got injured at Mansfield just as they hit form & he struggled to get a spot in the first team.

But he has a good record, he had a good partnership with Wilkinson at Orient. I think he’s one most Walsall fans would welcome.

Heard the same mate be happy with him also.

I may be doing him a disservice, but I am increasingly feeling he is getting interest because of his surname, his brother is so good surely he must be okay. We had him a few years ago, and clearly was less experienced than now, but he huffed and puffed and the loan was ended early by us. He was fairly quick and tried hard, but really no end product. Hope he has moved on since then and will do a good job for you.

When I used to train greyhounds in Ireland I soon realised the litter brother of a champion was, in the main, slow as fuck.
My mum got a dog where one in the litter won at Cruffs, whereas ours was as stupid as…

They both did well for us in the lockdown season, Wilkinson got 12 goals and Johnson 23 IIRC.

Rumour has it both fell out with the club and with each other in the latter half of that season which was why both moved on.

Johnson is a clever striker, knows where to run for the chances and tap ins and can finish well on his left foot. Technical ability is Limited, but if you want someone on the end of chances he’s well worth a punt.

I’d have had him back here, but he’s burnt his bridges here with our heirachy.

Clough made a bit of a cock up signing Danny Johnson, with how we play we need somebody like Oates upfront who will run non-stop and pressure the entire match, Johnson is nothing like that.
