Harrogate potential strugglers this year? Poor second half of last season and haven't made any standout signings as far as I've noticed.

I think so too, there’s only Luke Armstrong there, who I’m convinced is being held against his will who stands out.

Good riddance to tinpot shite (hopefully!)

How many had that Nixon fellow called correctly? As his Quigley to Morecambe rumour was a non-starter

None, the bloke has a crafty little gig going, charge £2 a month to make up some waffle about x chasing x, then when it doesn’t happen you can come up with even more waffle for why it didn’t materialise.

We have signed Luke Robinson on loan from Wigan for the season. Can play left center back, or left back which is exactly what we needed, cover wise.

This also means that we wont be signing Theo Robinson thankfully. The person who first mentioned it said we are signing someone called Robinson, and others have put 2 & 2 together.

Father Weaver wouldn't sack his son if they were struggling, he'll just pull his money out and they'll both leave.

Don't think this one from yesterday got posted? Having struggled to get him on the pitch for a decent run of games for his entire Grimsby career (45 appearances in 7 years), you just know he's gonna be ever present for Harrogate! If they can get him fit and playing they've got a player on their hands. Massive 'if' though.
He scored in their friendly last night then went off injured after half an hour.
Never seems to catch a break that lad as ability wise he’s easily good enough.

Seems like we’re signing Brendan Kiernan from Walsall, thoughts Walsall fans?

Whitfield gone to Barrow on a permanant. As others have said, good player just injury hit season for us and doesn't really fit the 3-5-2.

Why we've let him go there a week before we play them is beyond me, he worries me more than Rooney or Bennett in the ex players stake.

I would say that the fanbase is quite divided on him really. Personally, I rate him quite highly and would consider him a great signing. He can be very direct at times with the ball at his feet and has an eye for a goal; his final delivery has been questionable at times though too. Unfortunately, he hasn't had as many opportunities in the team as he would like based on the system that Flynn plays with his emphasis with wingbacks. He is a diligent worker and fulfils his defensive obligations well, always tracking back. This is why I was surprised that Flynn didn't try him at wingback last season instead of Shade and Osadebe.

Either way, reading between the lines, Flynn has made it clear that Kiernan wasn't going to feature in his plans this season (along with Perry and Menayese) so he will definitely be best served going somewhere that can fulfil his position and provide him with minutes that he deserves.

On a personal note, he is a fantastic bloke and a great ambassador for our club. He has done some tremendous work with local charities in the local community in Walsall, particularly around mental health with children and young people. I really wish him well and a successful season if he does sign with you.

Good signing, feel a bit sorry for the lad that it never worked out here due to unfortunate timings of injuries and the system we play.

Did Wild choose Barrow over Hartlepool? Think Barrow will surprise a few people this year.

Wild apparently didn't consider Hartlepool because he wants to stay living near Oldham.

People keep mentioning Whitfield's injuries, but it seems to have been a fractured metatarsal that kept him out for months? Not really one of those injuries that is a recurring problem.

Hopefully we'll get a good run of games out of him.

He came back from that injury and then kept getting niggles etc. Torquay fans said he was quite injury prone for them before he signed for us and there were rumours he was going to go Bradford last season before joining us but he failed a medical.

He's played in all our friendlies though so is fit at the moment. Not sure why we've not waited 10 days tbh unless there's a gentleman's agreement considering there is no fee.

Yeah he broke his metatarsal in the Bolton game. The write up doesn't mention that he recovered from that, played a few games for us to build match fitness then got injured with a thigh/muscle injury which ended his season.

Nah, We were in talks with Hartlypaul for weeks.
He turned us down until we went back with an improved offer.
He was at our last game of the season (home) thats how long it was going on for.

He came back from that but picked up another in training very shortly after - not sure what it was.

He also spent a big period out injured at Torquay the season before.

Maybe just unlucky rather than injury prone but his availability in the past two seasons hasn’t been good.

Is it some kind of Love Island reference? I'm pretty sure we haven't got an ITV2 documentary...

Incidentally, one of our former players has binned off Halifax to go on Love Island. Their squad has been absolutely decimated this summer.
It is but it’s a bit cringe.

I saw another club did it a few weeks back but they were away somewhere on pre-season so were round a pool in the sun so you could see why they’d gone with the idea.

Also the player reading it out didn’t sound like he was in a year 2 English class.

This any more credible?

Given that the first sentence is 'Walsall have a striker in their sights, with Alan Nixon reporting from his Patreon that they are planning a bid for Mansfield's Danny Johnson' then i'd suggest no more credible rather just a rehash of what Nixon is saying. To be fair to him, Nixon does tend to know what is going on at clubs so it wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility that it is true.

Back in 2011 he was our first academy graduate to make a first team debut. Nice to hear he's turned out a good lad. As a footballer I'm a bit surprised, though pleased, he managed to dig himself back out of non-league which seemed his level.

Signed James Maxwell, left back, Scotland U21 international, turned down a contract at Rangers as he didn’t want to go out on loan again, turned down an offer from Reading, well pleased, we’ve needed a left back for sometime. A balanced look to our back line now. Hurst and Tomlin hopefully will sign too then a couple of land and we are done

Either the person who mentioned it or another replying made a remark about a striker in the building so the Chinese whispers led to the conclusion that it was Theo Robinson. Like you I’m relieved it’s Luke instead. Wonder if this means we’re maxed out on defenders now.

Wish him all the best, think he’s had a rough deal here tbh and clough hasn’t really given him enough chances,

That said he doesn’t quite make it tbh with our attacking options.
