I’m sure he has just left Lincoln due to disciplinary reasons
He was transfer listed at the end of last season because he wasn't very good, but his FA betting charges sped up his departure (2017 his betting started but nothing to suggest it was games he played in). Surprised you've signed him unless he's already had his disciplinary hearing and an outcome is due at any time. He had the shortest farewell statement I've ever read from us.

For someone who presumably commanded the wages he did, it was a move that didn't work out for either party in the slightest. Only turned up for Sunderland away last season to piss Lee Johnson off. If he spent more time actually trying to play football than arguing with opponents and being a WUM then he might have another year or two left in him.

I don't think he really settled here either, quite a few people who'd met him either via fan days or media duties said he was a tough person to like as well and had no people skills about him whatsoever. It's not often a player will fall out with the crowd, but he did three times...

If reports were true we attempted to sign Leigh Griffiths in the summer also, looks like Hartley is taking risks with some of these players. Be a weird signing if Maguire has a ban looming over him

“We are obviously well aware of his current situation after recently being charged by the FA in connection to betting and we know there is a possibility at some point he may miss some games this season. We have agreed a contract structure that takes this matter into account from the club's perspective.”

Sounds like we’re comfortable with it, I’ll give him a fair crack of the whip, at least we have two proper strikers in the building, now play them upfront together Hartley ya big coward.

I’d have been annoyed if we’d signed him but given how shite Hartlepool currently are and if they’ve sorted out not paying him through the ban it could be a shrewd signing. It’ll be quite something if he makes them any worse.

He’s not quite up there with Wanker John McGinley in a historic list of hated players by our fans but he’s not far off. He’ll get dog’s abuse - and quite rightly so. Prick.

My Mackem supporting mate said Maguire is quality, when he can be arsed.
Big gamble, but a one worth taking ,considering how shyte we are.
Tom Elliot & Mark McNulty another couple of names I’ve heard.

Yeah it's a pay as you play deal, apparently a hefty wedge per game.

We once signed Gordon Watson who had a past on a similar deal and he was immense, dont see it with this one mind.

What did he do ?
Its been a long time since we’ve had a player the opposition don’t like like, mainly because we have a team full of fannies.

As the Lincoln fan says he's just a general WUM. He's been involved in a couple of incidents when playing for Oxford where he's taken great delight in being the villain on the pitch. I actually didn't know about the betting thing, he's clearly got bigger issues than being a WUM then.

My all time greatest Pools player was Flash just topping the other legend that was Jan Ove Pedersen, the bloke was an enigma.

If you haven’t got a roller, he can double up the amount of time he trips over blades of grass

Pay as you play sounds spot on, Means the effort has to be put in.

We have Ryan Bennett training with us.

Really weird situation, if Bennett played anywhere else on the pitch he’d be an obvious yes but he’s a centre back and we have excellent options there.

Hursts dilemma is do you bring a Championship standard player into the club or do you stick with the players you have who are doing so well. Bennett lives in the area and by all accounts wants to play for us, it’ll be hard to turn down a player of his caliber but who do you sacrifice?

I’m not sure they’ll be mega, he’s set for life and his family are here so it makes sense for him to be realistic. It’s still a wage though, it’s a shame he didn’t come to this conclusion in the summer & we could’ve planned accordingly.

Our ITK message board poster (who pretty much has a 100% hit rate on leaking signings before they're officially announced) reckons Bennett's gonna be signing til the end of the season now, so that's nice. Not entirely sure how Hurst's going to manage our absolute wealth of riches at centre half for the rest of the season, but there's certainly worse problems to have.

Drop Efete, play four CBs and push Glennon up into a the wide position of a front three. Sorted.

No seriously though, I say as long he isn't absolutely dickloads of money then get him in on a two year deal. Pearson won't be a player next season and is hopefully gonna be transitioning to a full time coaching role, Smith could potentially be recalled/probably won't be here next season. Having 5 CBs might seem overkill but that's only because we currently play a flat back four. 5 CBs if we switch to a back three is fine though and with Glennon/Efete/Clifton/Amos in the squad we've certainly got players that can operate in the wing back role.

Looks like John Rooney is off to Oldham, which explains our interest in that Lyden character from Swindon.

He played a part in keeping us up last season but it feels like we have wasted money on bringing him back (unless Oldham are paying a decent fee for him). Hartlepool wanted him on deadline day but he wasn't interested.

Clearly not part of our plans this season, and can't get a look in ahead of our three quality midfielders, so not bothered about him leaving at all. He can go back to being a top luxury player in non-league.

Lyden is top, top class - when he manages to stay fit. He’s only 26, played in the PL(albeit 4 games) but in 7 years has only amassed 57 games.

He’s made of sticks and snails and puppy dog’s tails.
