Lyden is top, top class - when he manages to stay fit. He’s only 26, played in the PL(albeit 4 games) but in 7 years has only amassed 57 games.

He’s made of sticks and snails and puppy dog’s tails.

Wild knows him from Oldham and clearly rates him - I reckon he's probably been waiting til Rooney's wages are off our books, and hopefully we'll offer some kind of 'pay as you play' deal.

He's brilliant. Should be in League 1 really but for rotten injury luck. Trained with us pre season until recently.

Admire anyone who keeps putting their body through it. Many would have just given up and retired and who could blame them. Must be so disheartening.

Looks like John Rooney is off to Oldham, which explains our interest in that Lyden character from Swindon.

He played a part in keeping us up last season but it feels like we have wasted money on bringing him back (unless Oldham are paying a decent fee for him). Hartlepool wanted him on deadline day but he wasn't interested.

Clearly not part of our plans this season, and can't get a look in ahead of our three quality midfielders, so not bothered about him leaving at all. He can go back to being a top luxury player in non-league.
According to our chairman he wanted to stay in the North West. A bit like Pete Wild. Or more likely we don't pay enough, wouldn't have wanted him anyways, Rooney that is.

I thought it was Quigley we were chasing on deadline day but wanted to stay in the North West?

Sums Rooney up to a tee, was surprised you payed us back what we paid you.

Luxury player is bang on the money, just doesn't fit any decent well drilled midfield system.

Good set pieces, scored some absolute brilliant goals for us in the NL but when all was said and done, we were better without him.

Oldham will hope he can provide them magic moments to improve the NL form but he's not getting any younger is he.

I heard it was both of them. And they both have previously used the "I want to stay closer to home" excuse in the past with us...

I wasn't overjoyed when I heard we bought him back, but we needed a player like him last season as there was no creativity in midfield at all once Ollie Banks went to shit. He scored some goals that helped keep us up, but didn't contribute a great deal.

In non-league for us he was an all action midfielder with an incredible passing range and an eye for long range goals. The problem he has now is that our midfield is all about tackling and pressing - so he's way down the pecking order.

It was both IIRC. Quigley might've done a job but Rooney, no thanks.

Think Raj knew he had a decision to make regarding Hartley so didn't sanction any permanent signings.

I'm happier we got a gout addled pisshead gambling addict who'll never play a game for us instead.

I wouldn't be so sure on that,we have a number of free agents training with us including Josh Harrop.

Our recent signing of Chris Maguire is apparently in the mud, a deal was agreed with all parties but rejected by the EFL/PFA, still training with us but not a registered player.

Has Curle sent any players to train with the youth team yet?

Early days for that I suppose.

Not a transfer as such but Jacob Wakeling has signed a 3 year extension, keeping him at the club until June 2026!

Can’t remember the last time we dished out a contract that long.

If he's as good as what Swindon say he is, it's absolutely criminal that Cooper brought him here and proceeded to freeze him out when we were desperate for forwards. He'd probably be playing for us now if we'd utilised him properly.

Absolute revelation. Had the usual cheap option comments when he signed, now everyone’s creaming their jeans. Works exceptionally hard, scores goals, tracks back, wins tackles. Very similar to Jerry Yates. Be a right money spinner in the future.

Yates is class, one of my fave players from L1/L2 in recent years. Watched a lot of him because I was living with Blackpool fans in lockdown. Will be keeping an eye out for Wakeling too now.

Callum Macdonald on a short term deal until Jan with the obvious added proviso of a longer deal if it goes well for both parties. Any thoughts Tranmere fans?

We've picked up numerous injuries in the left back area so it makes sense position wise for the short term.

Available for today at Bradford.

He’s a decent enough player at this level. Good first season with us initially on loan, then signed. Delayed start to last season, out with a shin splints problem and when he did return form was more patchy. Got sent off twice last season though wouldn’t call him a dirty player. Decent crosser, not that quick, rare scorer but both goals he got for us were quality.

Rovers offered him a new deal but he wanted to play at a higher level, but seemingly no offers and we went on to recruit Bristow. It will be interesting to see what kind of reception he gets next month as there is some negative feeling about his departure. Personally hope it goes well for him, that game aside.

Obviously could be nonsense but rumour doing the rounds on couple of WhatsApp groups is that Theo Robinson could be coming in……

One of the worst footballers I've ever seen yet he scored our goal of the season. He'll run around and try but he's just not got the quality anymore. Is he just for backup?

I’d take it with a pinch of salt as it’s also been posted on our Facebook supporters page which is full of some of the most brain dead people I’ve ever seen.

It’s hard to say whether would be back up, as we only really have Umerah who’s a centre forward who has any real quality.

We also have Hamilton who went off injured yesterday and Joe Gray a young lad who hasn’t had a minutes football since Curle’s came in I don’t think.

Then we have a number of wide attacking players who fill in up there like Ndjoli or McDonald.
