Why do we always have to get in these old has beens? Tony Cottee, Paul Furlong, Collins John, Craig Beattie, Kevin Lisbie and now Aaron McLean! I'd rather see a young player be brought in, that wants to make a name for himself in the football league.

When we won League Two Allen brought in Deon Burton who'd been playing abroad for Gabala. Seemed a weird move at the time but he was vital to our success. While I don't suppose McLean will be quite as good as Burton was, maybe that's the sort of impact he's trying to replicate?

Lisbie was excellent for us in the 4 years we had him, one of the best we've had.

Age has just caught up with him, when he's fit he will do a job at this level.

Luton should invest the money in a cloning machine in order to achieve every Luton fan's dream of having 11 Mackail Smiths. Then their team could be:

Mackail Smith
Mackail Smith Mackail Smith Mackail Smith Mackail Smith Mackail Smith
Mackail Smith Mackail Smith Mackail Smith
Mackail Smith Mackail Smith

Don't be silly.

We play 3-5-2 now.

At least that's what the manager says. I think that it's a more of a fluid randomness myself.

McLean and Akinde, wow, I think Barnet must just be trying to bludgeon the opposition into submission.

Personally from what I saw of Barnet at the weekend I would have said they'd be better off getting a young nippy striker to run at defences, or a Scott McGleish-style poacher. Ah well, we'll see.

We already have one in Matty Stevens, which is why most Barnet fans find it fairly baffling. Most would like to see him given a chance than another past it striker

Loan signing at 4pm. Spoiler: Ryan Watson.

Top signing for us from what I've seen. Very good central midfielder.

Delighted with this, he was fantastic for us previously before his injury.

We've signed ex-Leeds, Ipswich and Plymouth midfielder David Norris on non-contract terms. We had to do something about the horrific injury crisis we're in, could be a decent signing.

I have to say I know little about him.

What's he like Wycombe & Yeovil fans?

I hope he scores goals. That would be nice.

We've just confirmed Olly Lee on a "short term deal with the option to extend based on certain performance triggers."

Meh. Apparently he looked good in pre-season cameos so hopefully he impresses for us more than he did with Plymouth.

Should be a good signing but they've had your pants down there with the fee, and all after you guys were saying Crawley were stupid to be holding out for more after the £100k bid...

If his legs haven't gone too much this could be a great signing, we have been crying out for an experienced head since McAllister left.

A no doubt talented, but inconsistent and injury prone winger. Pace and quick feet, but can go missing in games - if he doesn't spend half the season away with Jamaica he'll certainly be an asset at this level.

We've signed Jacob Blyth from Leicester on a one month loan. 6'3 striker who scored 5 goals in 22 games on loan at Burton last season. Back up to Barry Corr who is rumoured to be injured for tomorrow.

We had Blyth on loan 2 seasons ago. Was a decent option to have, obviously Corr is a good striker for this level but think you have done well there with cover. I know many on our forum wanted him in as a different option.

Fits the profile for what we need for the rest of the season. Hopefully we can have a look at him (and he us) and extend the loan if the fit is good. Noticed that Brewers and Cobblers have nice things to say and he also had a spell at Notts County.

Bench on Saturday, with Simpson and Slew to start? He should certainly get a run out.

lack of Irish ancestry may be a draw back but you can't have everything.
