Had him on loan at the end of last season - 6 goals in 7 matches.

I'm not sure what the cost is as it's an undisclosed fee. His contract was up but because he is under 24 we have to pay something.

I don't think we have 'that much money' to be fair.

Agree seems to be a good signing. Good carrier of the ball and has pace. Oxford seem to be pulling off some decent signings with Skarz and Roofe. Shame for them the manager is awful.

Well it didn't because last summer it was all Hallam Hope to bury. Your fans were banging on about it, obviously hoping to sign him. Didn't you have him on loan before that?

Yep, he signed on loan in November and signed permantly in January. So like I said not the same. Seeing as Kemar has actually signed for Oxford during the summer and it's not a rumour.

Well it's very similar isn't it.
both league 2 clubs (at time of signing), both causing real excitement amongst their fan bases, both world class players, both had previous loan spells before making it permanent. No they didn't sign on the exact same day of the year as each other, so it's a reasonable analogy.

You have a complex mate. I don't dig bury, I don't care that much about Bury, they are just a team who I'm used to being around us. It just sprung to mind when I seen the Roofe signing announced, and if anything unless you're backwards it would be a compliment to a bury player.

It was pretty much guaranteed we'd offer him a deal. Wouldn't mind him as a squad player but I'd be extremely disappointed if he was our only signing this summer for that position, we need a real proven quality target man as an absolute priority this summer as far as I am concerned.

Stockley isn't good enough, but with Miller (probably), Wall, Lafayette and Walker all departing, there's probably room for one of those 'development' (in the loosest terms) players.

Need 1 top quality striker.

Agreed, but Stockley's not going to come here to not play at all. Assuming we stick with Still's favoured 4-2-3-1, we'd have Benson and Stockley competing for the 1 already. We know from the season just gone that Still (rightly) sees Benson as ahead of Stockley. If we were to then go and sign another target man of first team pedigree, suddenly it would look like Stockley's first team opportunities would be very limited indeed.

I worry a little that if we do get Stockley, it will mean Still plans to use Benson as our first choice target man again. I love the guy, but he's just not good enough anymore to be first choice for a team with top 3/7 ambitions.

He absolutely ran the show against us this season, great passing range. I gather he's fairly inconsistent though...

Possible that we start phasing out Benson and he becomes more of a coach than a player?
