Jimmy Phillips, has great skills and ability but in 5 seasons has never been able to put it together consistently and is very injury prone, a very likeable lad and I really hope he gets it together for you.
Geat thanks. I presume he is cover if someone is injured. Fingers crossed he can stay fit for the final 6 games.

Over the last week we've brought in Cole Kwepka ( QPR ) and Nyron Nosworthy ( Blackpool ) on loan and also extended Josh Passleys loan until the end of the season.

No real exciting signings there but with Jack Whatmough now out for 6 months and Paul Robinson out for likely the end of the season we had to make a CB signing.

Luton to sign Jack Collison??

Doubt it. Still said he knew him and would explore the possibility (hard to tell from the news article but the way the quote is worded it sounds like the name was put directly to him rather than Still dropping it out of nowhere), but I imagine he'll have offers from League One and maybe Championship clubs. Wasn't so very long ago that he was a first-choice Premiershite midfielder.

At any rate, he's injured currently I believe - the context of the quote, I think, was in a broader discussion about the need to rebuild in the summer whatever division we end up in (as if there is any doubt at this point!!).

There was talk of him going to MK Dons the other day I think.

Last weekend there was an article in one of the papers suggesting Ben Kennedy is wanted by Arsenal and Tottenham - will believe that when I see it!

Our clear out continued with Paul Connolly being released, only played about 5 times. Hopefully a fair few more squad players to follow.

More good news that Nathan Doyle has signed another contract for next season. I had half expected him to be off perhaps to a lower league 1 side, as he has been by far our best player this season, very happy he will be here next season.

It's great news for sure, but worth pointing out that it was an automatic renewal clause in his contract triggered by playing a certain number of games, so it doesn't necessarily preclude him wanting to move higher in the summer. Hopefully not though!

Is Paul Connolly any good? We need a right back badly.

On the limited evidence of this season, no not really. He looked good in pre-season but awful in the first few games, then got injured and has hardly been seen again (bar 50 minutes or so in a JPT game where he played at left back).

Hasn't the free transfer deadline passed now anyway?

I wasn't sure if they were just open to be signed all season, I'm probably wrong. We'll need to be signing one in summer anyway, although if we're looking to push up the league maybe another team's reject isn't the way to go.

This is a massive coup, because he's well up there within the best midfielders in the division. He's easily good enough for L1.

Newcastle interested in Kyle Dempsey according to today's Mirror. Not a good move for him, he'd be best served proving himself in the Championship first.

God yeah, I'm sure his eyes will light up at the thought of Newcastle coming in for him, but they aren't really a club known for their good youth policy, and if you're not a Geordie the fans will hate you.

Thankfully he seems to have his head pretty well screwed on, I'm guessing he could have easily left us in summer for a Championship side, probably even in January, but he knows he has to prove himself level by level instead of jumping straight up and not playing.

Jason Kennedy's loan is now extended for the rest of the season.

If we stay up we want to be looking at bringing him in permanently in the summer.

Joel Byrom has signed for a further 2 years. His deal was due to expire this summer after signing on a 6 month deal in January. Very happy with this, keeps the game ticking over well, lovely left foot.

Interesting few articles in the national papers in recent days about former Luton academy player Jay da Silva. Currently on the books at Chelsea, he was 1 of 3 brothers that were plucked from our youth setup whilst we were in the depths of non league; all for 5-figure sums. He's now 17 and is seen as potentially a Premier League staring left back. With potential add-ons, that deal could foreseeably net us £1m if they all make the first team.

Well they definitely aren't all going to make the first team seeing as Rio Dasilva was released by Chelsea at u15 level. Apparently Cole is well thought of, but given the fact that it is Chelsea you really have to be an exceptional talent to make the first team. Apparent Jay may be that exceptional talent, but I do worry about his height. He'd be the shortest defender in Premier League history by some margin I imagine, he's barely a smidge over 5 foot I believe.

Is this thread being used going forward? Great news for us in that Jamie Cureton has signed on for another year.

That's pretty much how I remember him. Saw him a couple of times for Orient and Posh. Seems to cause issues but without actually being much good.

How is that going to work? He's not French!

Then who better to move to than Newcastle as they'll be at that level next season.

John Carver will take him under his wing and turn him into a world class player. Oh wait...

Was told on Saturday by somebody at the club that Adam Chapman returning to us from Newport is a done deal.

Not sure if this has been mentioned elsewhere?
