Are you making a day of it? If you've got time I'd check out Hackney Wick before/after Leyton, 25ish min walk or a quick bus/overground. Loads of good places for a drink and a bite on/around the canal. Recommend Crate Brewery if you fancy a beer and a pizza. Orient away is one of the best away days in the country for me as you can do the old skool boozers closer to the ground and then full go on East London hipster as well. Enjoy!

Kind of. Mrs Agombar Stool is heading to Clerkenwell to catchup with some old friends and I'm planning to have a few pre-game beers before meeting up with them afterwards and hopefully going to get some decent scran somewhere before jumping on the train back home.

Cheers for the tips SOC, much appreciated, Crate Brewery sounds right up my street!

I've just noticed you live in Battersea, was assuming you were coming in from Swindon. Definitely glad I didn't advise you to download Citymapper.

Actually that's fake news, I moved from there a couple of years ago making the move up to Northamptonshire, but I haven't updated my BIO on here. (yet) I still work in Canary Wharf (twice a week) but East London, - apart from a superb curry in Whitechapel once - is definitely not very well known to me at all :)

Crate is great. Also in behind it, just off the canal are a couple of other micro breweries, Howling Hops and Old Street Brewery. I prefer the beers at Crate, but the others are also nice if you want to mix it up. Hackney Wick Overground station is a few mins walk away, then it's one stop to Stratford and swap to the Central Line for one stop to Leyton.

I thought Crate had gone into administration? For a closer hipster spot, I’d recommend Mammoth Tap in Leytonstone (20 minutes walk to the ground/1 quick stop on the tube). The guy* who used to be Crate’s head brewer runs it. Their Darklight Porter is an outstanding drop.

(*Full disclosure, I am best mates with his older brother)

What’s that club near the ground where I normally go when visiting the Os?
Can’t remember the name.

Not sure mate, looks like it's still open if you Google it. It's possible someone else bought the name, stepped into the location and is doing the beer and food maybe?

Knocking out some good recommendations here too thanks. Gonna check both the Mammoth Tap and the club out next time we're away at yours. Mind you, that might not be for a while.

On a side not, not sure if you (or anyone else that is arsed) go to Bethnal Green much but a few of my best mates live there. One of the best taprooms for a crafty in the area is Boxcar. Put a message out on Twitter on Weds (I think it was) that they were being suddenly kicked out and that it was their last night that night. Massive shame. Done some of the best IPAs and Pales I've had in the past year or so. Hope they aren't done for good.

Andre Wisdom signing on a free apparently. Much needed as we have so many centre backs out injured.

Yep, I can see the wisdom in that.
Adrian Mariappa also linked. I suspect he might be more in our price bracket although Wisdom has been out of the game for a while and maybe looking to just getting back to playing regular football again.

According to Wiki Wisdom hasn’t played for nigh on 2 years. Mariappa is older but probably closer to being match fit.

How did no other club pick up George McCreachan out of the OOC list - he’s been superb for us.

Mariappa confirmed apparently. He’ll be fit, too from playing at Burton.

A wise old head at the back.

We've just signed Lewis Page, left back previously at Mansfield. Didn't see that coming, nice to have some competition in an area where we're not exactly blessed with quality though.

Is he finally fit then? Bit of a kick in the dick if so. We've had him here since November time and he got injured in a County Cup game. Our first and only choice left back been out injured since the end of Jan too and Page apparently wasn't fit enough to sign as back up. Clough did say he was training with another club earlier this week. Meant to be a good player when you can actually get him on the pitch.

We have signed free agent Jordan Mutch. 6ft odd 31 years old central midfielder. Played some 90 times in the premiership.

If he aint a sick note and his legs ain't gone that's a wild signing. If that's true why has he come to us?

Only until the end of the season but we only actually had one midfielder on the pitch on Tuesday so we do need some bodies.

now that we're safe we've loaned out Richie Bennett to Scunny for the rest of the season.

Only been 9 years since he played more than 20 games in a season. Sure he’s going to be right on top of his game.

Clear as day Wild never rated him. Scored a couple over Christmas when we were a bit thin on the ground and then was dropped once we got people back. He's a useful player, but a confidence one.

Swindon fans ?

Decent enough defender for us particularly at Championship level ( old school rather than anything fancy )

Was a while ago though.

Yeah that's not happening now. However we are looking to recruit still.

Oh, I don't expect much but if he can stand in front of our defenders and stop players running at them he is an improvement .

We've let two league 2 standard midfielders leave and replaced them with a player who couldn't get into Woking's team and a kid from Brighton.

Our stats look good though.

Robbie Gotts has signed a new deal at Barrow until 2025
Surprised at this - I could see him being released and joining Harrogate or a National League side.

He's improved lately but he's not had a great season. Hopefully he can kick on next season.

Always thought he looked your best player against us
