Rovers have signed former Man City youngster Adam Drury on non-contract terms.

Didn't know too much about him but he trialled with Leeds and Bradford over the summer.

Danny Kearns has left by mutual consent.

Looked talented, but it never really came off for him here, remember him doing a few too many stepovers but can never really remember him contributing anything of substance to a performance. Halfway though last season he had some personal problem or something and was put on leave for a while, and despite returning to training, he's been a player who hasn't even gotten a mention in about six months.

Now we're playing with only one wide player on each side, it's hard to see where his chances to feature could possibly come from. He can play on either side, but so can Thompson, McQueen and Osei; and in addition to the one-sided players, Brough, Grainger and Miller, he'd have 4 players ahead of him for either position.

With the transfer deadline looming, I guess it was decided that the only way for him to get another club was if we could come to an arrangement releasing him from his contract.

Happy we've parted ways with Kearns, it never worked out and he wasn't ever in Curle's plans.
He looked decent on a couple of occasions, but he played little part last season and this is a good move for both parties.

Has everyone done their business early this summer?

Drury has been the only League 2 signing so far today I think.

Looks like it will be 2 in and possibly 3 out for us.

With Real Madrid out of the running, I fully expect Luton to now step in and sign David De Gea
The only reason De Gea was going to sign for Real Madrid was because he heard they were on the verge of signing Rakish Bingham. Obviously, both deals fell through, and De Gea is in fact on his way to the northeast as we speak, and he's set to sign for Hartlepool.

Jack Payne signed a season long loan with Orient with a view to a permanent deal, per Sky.
Terrific signing for them.
Would have loved him back at Priestfield.

I will agree with that Payne should be quality for Orient and will add a bit more depth saying that transfer dealine day has been dead in league 2 upto yet.

Sad but true, I thought this was a promising signing at the time but it clearly hasn't worked out. I imagine he'll rock up at a half-decent conference outfit and do well.
Might follow Cox and Briscoe to Torquay.

Good call. I'd be delighted if we signed a half decent striker

Newport news, all defender-related:

Kevin Feely has had his contract terminated by mutual consent to return to full-time education.
Matt Partridge has just signed as a replacement for Feely having left Dagenham & Redbridge last week.
Regan Poole appears to be on his way to Manchester United.

Presumably Butcher will be playing centre-half in the JPT this evening.

Sheehan likes Keith Curle I think, tweeted about him once. Good chance we'd be going in for him I'd say.

Just confirming on BBCRC now that no business has been concluded by us this window, despite there having been two players we were in for (Keith Curle joked that the phones would be off so we wouldn't be taking calls about Jabo).

Of the two players, KC says one of them has gone to another club; the other we were competing with another club for, but neither club has been able to get hold of the player today despite him having been left out of his team's last game due to the interest (like a tinpot De Gea).

We're still having Leacock train with us of course.

We've signed two players today - Connor Smith on a 1 month loan from Watford and Jack Jebb on a 1 year deal.

I won't comment on the quality of the signings, haven't seen Smith play and although Jebb did little to impress in either of his previous loan spells it's fair to say he didn't get that much playing time.

Last Friday we added Jesse Joronen, a goalkeeper from Fulham, on loan for 6 months.

These recent additions are baffling, Day has been our best player this season and yet he's being replaced, I wouldn't have suggested a goalkeeper was required and I really can't see why we've signed another couple of central midfielders, it's the one position we're well stocked in, with these signings we now have 11 on the books! 11 central midfielders! Mental.

sounds like it could be Sheehan. I'd be 90% certain he'd go for Notts over Carlisle though given a straight choice, he did like Curle I believe but all his mates are based in the Midlands and his girlfriend lives in London so Cumbria would be an odd place to go for him on a personal level. His answer to a Notts fan on Twitter tonight suggests a bit too. Wouldn't be surprised at all to see him come in and Blair Adams loaned out.

We don't really need him and he's hardly a game-changing full-back, just a solid defender who gives you a decent cross every now and again but he'd be a nice addition at this level.

You certainly got the worse end of the 'Fat Sam's ex-backroom staff' wedge. Maintain that Sheringham is going to be an awful appointment.

Pleased with Orient's little bit of business today. Think Payne will be an upgrade on James or Moore.

I don't think we need him either, much rather see us sign a centre back seeing as we've been shoving full backs into the middle up until now. Curle likes characters though so would probably be interested based solely on this.

This is the tweet which I was basing my 'Sheehan likes Curle' statement on:
@sheezdogg: Great to see Keith Curle back In football.. Suprised it's taken this long. A real players manager

Yeah all the players liked Curle, mainly because he gave them fuck loads of time off and was tailor-made for the whole banter culture with Tom Williams and his z-list mates. Genuine nasty pieces of work.

Gary Woods has also been loaned to Ross County until January. Originally signed as cover to Adam Legzdins, but a combination of injuries and Legzdins being woeful saw Woods become first choice. He wasn't great, so in came Cisak on loan. Since then Cisak has signed permanently and Charlie Grainger (very highly rated, involved with England youth) is Hendon's preferred back up so Woods was always gonner go.

Our 2nd Choice bench-warming GK (Max Crocombe) is away on international duty with NZ.
So we need a replacement for the bench on Sunday. Today we have signed for 1 year Benji Buchel - subject to medical -
He is also a full international and 1st choice goalkeeper for his country.

Leichtenstein.

Curle has admitted he is keeping tabs on Sheehan, but has said he's currently in negotiations with another club - most likely Notts County. I expect him to choose County over us, if that's the case.
