Luke Hannant the latest relatively plausible rumour on our end
Have you heard anything about Clifton maybe going to Pompey? Something I got told by someone who’s got stuff spot on before that Clifton was offered a new better contract but has turned it down because of the Pompey interest. Could be bollocks of course.

My main source of info has disappeared now, got another one but he’s nowhere near as leaky as the other one was! There’s only one source you can trust regularly on The Fishy now and even he’s had a bad start.

Seen a fair bit to suggest Clifton will be staying put though, although he’d command a fair old fee and I’d snap somebody’s hand off for 6 figures

Tariq Uwakwe is being targeted by Salford and Stevenage, I was abit surprised we offered him a deal as he's been very average, but this is probably why, as we are now due some compensation for him if he does sign for someone else.

We have also made an offer to Josh Gordon. Doubt that he will come here though.

We’ve still got an offer on the table for him, but I think he’s hoping for a League One move. Would be good for any team up there as a back-up to the main strikers.

Could be something in that we turned down a couple of offers when he was with us he wasnt happy.

Ethan Chislett - Any good AFC Wimbledon fans?
Good little technical player, very good set pieces and very dangerous from direct free kicks...scored a few lovely ones last season.
I'd say he's very handy at L2 level but didn't really pull up any trees in L1 for us (although very few of our squad did!). He'd probably fare better at a better footballing side like yourselves that enjoys more possession and is on the attack more.
We offered him a new contract but if he has interest from L1 he will inevitably be off. There were strong rumours he was heading to Orient, not sure what happened to that.

Kristian Dennis signs for us on a 2 year deal. Carlisle offered him a 1 year contract with the possibility of a 2nd year depending on appearances, but hes chosen the security of our offer.

We lacked goals last season, and on paper, he should go someway to solving that issue.

Reuniting our relegation strike force of Dennis and Hemmings? Bold move.

I'd be surprised if Hemmings was still here come the start of the season. It hasnt really worked out for him here, and can see him looking for a move closer to home.

Still lives in Stockport so slightly closer to home for him, the ITK's on our board said he had wanted to move closer to home and was finding the trek up to Carlisle a bit much.

I don't think it was one for us. I like Dennis, he's a good poacher of goals but overall game seems to lack a bit which is why Carlisle didn't start him towards the end of the season despite being their top goalscorer.

Neither were anywhere close to being the reason for our problems back then to be fair haha. I preferred Kane, good all round footballer with more to his game than Dennis who will score goals (very reliable penalty taker if nothing else) but is really just a pure poacher.

Exactly this. Our overall performances were suffering with Dennis in the team which played a part (in my opinion) in us flogging top 3 in the final couple of months. He is a poacher, but when he’s not scoring he’s not much use.

A big reason we won the playoffs was the decision to drop Dennis for Garner for the 3 games. Had we stuck with Dennis I doubt we’d have made it through the semi final.

He’s the sort of player we’d look to target, but if Bolton were interested in him he’ll no doubt go there ahead of us!

Dennis has scored goals everywhere apart from at us which is fucking typical.

There is however, a reason a guy with such a good record is on his 7th club in 7 years and almost all at this level (with a brief stint at an even lower level in the SPL)

Dennis is very much a meh signing for me.

Just as likely to bag 15 next year as 5. Like a lot of strikers at this level (and before anyone says just as likely with Cook too!) Definitely hit a purple patch in the first half of last season, but 3 in his last 16/17 games is hardly a man in form.

Dennis is a good signing on a free. Absolutely little risk in it for Tranmere. He offers absolutely nothing to how your team will play but he will score goals that win games. His scoring record is a bit hit and miss in places but that's probably in teams that didn't get the best out of him

He has had 7 clubs in 7 years but people forget that lower league football has very little loyalty and you have to get the best deal you can for your family

Kristian Dennis is an all right signing for Tranmere.
I'd say now he is good for a lower half team and ok as back up for a top half team.

Scored just over 20 goals for us this season.

Dennis will always get a great welcome at mansfield, playing upfront in successive relegation seasons for chesterfield and county, what a legend.

Not a bad signing for tranmere, if you’ve got players good enough to get the ball into the box and someone to get on the end of it, then it could work.

I think he’s happy here, but probably now or never for him to make the step up. Wouldn’t begrudge him a move to a higher level, but would be gutted if he ends up at one of our mid-table rivals.

Two signings for us this week according to the local rag. No idea who.
