Gary Taylor-Fletcher played in a friendly for our lot yesterday and scored 2 and made the other in a 3-2 win.

I'm sure he'd be decent at this level, but it'd be a completely unnecessary signing

Got to be Grant Holt hasn't it? 'Massive' transfer news when we can only get people on loan, he's back to fitness but won't be getting a look in regardless of that, and he's been commentating on us for however long and clearly prefers us to Wigan.

What a load of shite. Huge transfer news my arse. Interested in signing a player, yeah maybe but probably no chance of it happening. Huge transfer news? And we get that?

I'm sure Pellegrini would like to sign Lionel Messi. Hardly huge news though is it?

We have today loaned Micheal Collins to York for one month.

However, Collins is no longer in our plans and is keen to move back north anyway.

Could be made permanent if York can afford his wages. Currently he is one of our higher earners

Grant Holt on a short term loan makes more sense to all parties than you may imagine though... We don't need cover for long really, or someone who is going to take all the weight of scoring on his shoulders, we already have one in-form striker in Asamoah and a back-up who must be chomping at the bit to open his account in Steven Rigg. We're playing in such a way that any striker worth their salt will score goals. It's just this period with Wyke still out, before Jabo returns and while Gillead is away on international duty that we could do with someone else in the squad.

Wigan get to give a returning injured player a bit of a game time, we're only a division below them now so we're the sort of club they'll be looking to loan players like Holt to.

We'll get a short term player in who will be guaranteed to give it everything; needs no introduction to the fans and no talk about what this club means to them because he already is one.

Holt gets to do what he has stated he would love to do on many occasions and play for Carlisle before he retires. He's 34 now and has had recent troubles with injury, so now might be his only chance. Given it's unlikely we'll be signing him before injury finishes him off for good (who knows, this could already be his last season), a brief but glorious spell and hopefully a couple of goals would be fulfilling a dream for Holt.

Better than than another George Iliev.

I can't see it happening. I can imagine in league 1 Wigan will want to put him in as soon as they can as they know what an asset he could be in that league.

Anyway it's all came about because Phillips asked Curle in his interview if he'd be interested in him. Curle simply responsed by saying it's something they would ask about but no enquiry has been made so far. So it's a nothing story at the moment.

Sturrock has admitted he's made some mistakes with players he's brought in over the summer. Two of them will be told they have not future at the club in the next few days http://t.co/QA9lbIni33
No clues who yet but I'd be surprised if Mark Beck isn't one of them

Really fucking shite

Not entirely sure in all honesty. He played well against Stevenage and Wigan, was bad against Mansfield and then by all accounts put in the single worst performance of all time away at Oxford...and he hasn't been seen since.

Worried this leaves a gap in our successful reserve side now though, time for Taylor McKenzie to step up and help us with the Final Third Developmental League, which we currently top.

John Marquiss has signed on loan from Millwall. Did the business in League One last year, so should be a good move for us. Will help Ollie Palmer's hair stay perfectly coiffured on the bench rather than allowing us to watch it blow in the wind as he runs round five yards behind the ball.

Really liked Marquis during his spells here. Plays with a real aggression and passion that the fans liked. Prone to a yellow card or two but think you will like him a lot.

Marquis is a grafter. Decent finisher too if given the chance - good luck to him, he'll make a good impression without question.

I don't know anything about this player, but he looked pretty useless yesterday v Exeter.

Oh, and Westley left Stevenage months ago.

Yates says he doesn't have an issue with him and he is back around the team. Why they couldn't figure that out earlier is beyond me.

Wycombe have taken Jason McCarthy on an initial months loan from Southampton. Seems to be highly regarded there and Ainsworth has seen him play a couple of games for their under 21's and liked what he saw. Should mean that Harriman will be free to play in midfield or on the right wing.

We've had Nicky Bailey and a few other trialists play in a friendly today vs Brentford.

We have signed Tommy O'Sullivan and the wonderfully-named Jazzi Barnum-Bobb on loan from Cardiff today. Both loans are one month initially.

One of the trialists is apparently Sonny Black, a centre back from Palace.

We had Francois Zoko play for us the other night in the beds senior cup, which we lost 1-0 to Dunstable.

Whilst I think it very unlikely he will be signed, with Benson having been out for a while now and Mackail Smith going off injured in the past 2 games I could see us bringing somebody in up front.

Gillead and Gillesphey have now had their loans extended for the rest of the season.

Good news for us... firstly because they're good players, but also it's nice to have a settled squad we only have the two loanees and they're now season long loanees.

Makes a change from the days we'd have about twenty different loanees coming and going throughout the course of the season.

Great stuff that, Gilliead could prove to be a very good signing if he gets a run of games and Gillesphey provides a solid option in defence.

If Simpson stays at Newcastle it could prove to be very beneficial for us, no doubt he's had a big part to play in getting these two here and then further extending the loan. I'm sure if he'd tried he could've found a League 1 team to take Gillead for the season and see how he does but he's obviously got full faith in the club's ability to improve him and Gillesphey.

That's two positions which could easily have provided us with a season of different players on month long loans, none of whom would ever settle in, and in the past if a player did well on a short-term loan he went somewhere else to improve (Lawrence, Ehmer) so it's nice to have a consistent squad of good players who also seem to all get along well with each other.

Josh Clarke has signed on a short term loan from Brentford. Any good? Brentford fans seem pretty upset on Twitter.

We've signed some youth defender on loan from Leicester. Don't know how long for and he's Sierra Leonian I think (didn't catch the name). Suggests Legge's injury us worse than expected.....
