To be fair, Apparently we have had a few transfers collapse according to sources. However, As far I am aware the Bennett deal is still on and it is his agent holding the deal up.

Don't read the fishy, have someone in a WhatsApp group that usually has info on deals who said Vernam was sorted, also said Bennett deal was off last week

Bennett is still on, part of the reason it’s not been on is Bennett felt messed about by us in January when he was apparently keen to sign & we dithered too long. That’s come from a really really good source too. He thinks it probably will still happen but it’s by no means a done deal.

Sounds like we’re going back in for Charles Vernam - would be delighted with that.

Seen that on Twitter. Same guy who linked us to Glennon AFTER Halliday signed. Also said Cook was heading to Wrexham in Jan, then to Tranmere, then to Salford etc. Bloke has a similar hit rate to Theo Robinson.

Cheers.

Sounds like he has potential and we probably need more depth in that position so he could be a good option to have in the squad without being a guaranteed starter.

Good signing that. Reckon you'll be gunning for the playoffs this coming season?
That’s the aim, but it’s the aim for about 20 clubs I think.

We badly lacked goals last season, and we’ve gone and signed a striker who scored 20 and a striker who scored 15 last season. Can’t really argue. Over to the manager now to get the best out of them.

Class on the ball and has superb vision as well as the ability to dictate tempo of the game. He is slow though and I’d expect him to miss a few games each season as his legs have started to go.

But overall, he should be a class above in L2. I expect the fact you have him a 2 year deal swayed things…Have a feeling we only offered a year, but could be wrong.

Think it's more to do with Geography. He needs to tend his farm 1 or 2 days a week.

Vernam finally gets back to Grimsby. Not knocking his effort but he just wasn't up to L1 standard.

P.S. Grimsby paying an undisclosed fee and a THREE year contract - get in the going for it thread!

They can't give a 3 year contract. We have a patent on that.

You Yorkshire and Lancashire clubs get more than your fair share of players due to location over us so I'm absolutely fine with that.

Yeah I think most sides would be pleased with Vernam, excellent record at this level and really popular with the fans. Another signing that you can say with confidence will improve us.

Great argument from the fan of a team he was previously played for - in Yorkshire
And he bitched about the commute which he signed up for then left at the first opportunity. He also did the same at Burton, ironically when signing for us.

Yeah I'm absolutely baffled about what attracted him to a club in a higher division closer to his home giving him a pay rise?
