Yeah I'm absolutely baffled about what attracted him to a club in a higher division closer to his home giving him a pay rise?
Pay rise? You know something we don’t? I don’t blame him for moving to Lincoln, but he had no interest in a contract renewal way before Lincoln signed him unless they acted underhand.

Quite liked Vernam when he was here. Had a couple of really good games: Mansfield and Sutton. End product and inability to last a full 90 is why probably why he's back down here. Good signing for Grmsby.

These Grimsby signings.

Biggest waste of FA money since the National Team appointed Steve McClaren.

We’ve signed Jamie Proctor from Vale as our main striker. Only a couple of goals last season but usually been good against us.
Vale fan16 summed him up.

You play him, he looks great and then disappears for a month or two. Comes back (seemingly) before he is ready, picks up another injury and bye bye for another month.

If he could stay injury free he would have played championship level regularly.

Vernam is an odd one. I liked him as he's a winger who can get you off your seat. But hes inconsistent and does go missing regularly.

He's tried L1 twice now and failed both times within 6 months.

That’s the aim, but it’s the aim for about 20 clubs I think.

We badly lacked goals last season, and we’ve gone and signed a striker who scored 20 and a striker who scored 15 last season. Can’t really argue. Over to the manager now to get the best out of them.
Think you will let Hemmings go now mate? we have been linked with him once or twice since the season ended.

You probably don't understand the science behind these signings because you don't support a data club.
It looks a good signing on paper. Hursty masterminding a play off push at least I reckon. We're still here so he's already put down 6 points.

The FA line just came to me. I'd have forgotten it if I didn't put it down on paper now.

And he bitched about the commute which he signed up for then left at the first opportunity. He also did the same at Burton, ironically when signing for us.
So it Just shows that he knows the old saying, ‘the only good thing to come out of Yorkshire is the road to Lincolnshire’

He was great for us in the promotion season, that karate kick goal against Sutton was one of the great goals I’ve seen but is injured a lot, similar to Wilson really and as mentioned he seemed to be less mobile after a long lay off this season.

I hope it works for him, he’s a top bloke and played a huge part it getting us up but did expect him to retire (think he has a business he runs).

The right decision for us to sell Vernam and, finally, part ways - he's just not up to L1 standard at all. 1 goal and 0 assists in 30 odd appearances last season and didn't even look like making something happen in games. Don't think it was through lack of effort, he was just out of his depth. For him, he drops to a level that by all accounts he's half decent in and get a good deal out of it as well, you don't see many three-year deal at L2 level?

On the final day of last season if we had won, we’d have stayed up.

We had 31 shots, couldn’t score one of them and drew 0-0 to come down.

We’ve just signed the keeper that relegated us :fl:

You couldn’t make it up.

Would imagine so yeah. He’s meant to be one of our highest earners, and he’s rumoured to fancy a move closer to home. Seems like a really nice guy, and clearly a good player but just hasn’t worked for him here.

I imagine Its a deal that will suit both clubs very well. We get a nominal fee, Vernam is now off the wage bill and Grimsby get a player likely to play a lot more often next season. As Luke says, can’t fault his effort but CV is not near enough a L1 level player when we can hopefully use that money better.

I don't think Vernam is a 5 star signing at this level but he's certainly competitive. Adding him to Khan, Eisa, Wilson and Rose however, makes the top end of the pitch look significantly stronger for us next season even if that's only by virtue of having genuine options. If we can add to that a striker with real physical presence I might start to think we have genuine top 7 aspirations

Eisa isn’t in Vernam’s league, I wouldn’t get too excited with him.

Yeah still got a bit of business to do but I'm fairly pleased with business so far. Mullarkey and Vernam are very good signings for anyone in the division, Rosie is solid, Wilson I know nothing about really and Eisa is a bit of a punt on someone who's had a shit few years.

We gave a three year deal to Alex Hunt too last season, see them about a bit but yeah it's mainly ones and twos I'd say.

Yeah I'm not convinced about Eisa. Kind of have to hope that he just wasn't suited to Bradford and that he can regain that form he had at Scunny.

Wasn't Eisa injured for most of his 2 years with you lot? And does he play on the left or right, if he plays on the left he will probably be depth for Vernam anyway, which may come in useful as

クレイグ noted that Vernam has an inability to last a full 90

- if he plays on the right, he will be depth for Otis Khan, However if he stays fit and if he can capture the form he showed under Hurst and in the COVID season (9 goals from 40 games) it has potential to be a low risk high reward signing.

You Yorkshire and Lancashire clubs get more than your fair share of players due to location over us so I'm absolutely fine with that.
Bradford fans don't like players that turn them down to play closer to their home

It's not often us lot have location working in our favour, because if you head 10 minutes out of Grimsby in any direction (one way you'll end up in the Humber estuary-Don't think many players live there, Unless there called f**king Spongebob.) and the other three ways your looking mostly hills and fields with small villages. Most of our players are based out of South/West Yorkshire, So where competing with Doncaster, Bradford, Mansfield and now Notts County for players who live in that area and don't want a massive commute. Leading to us traditionally having to overpay on wages or players who have been loans/castoffs from u21/u23 sides in the prem or championship.

Very football Radar kind of signing, loads of talent but lost his way a bit. His highlight video looks good but they always do.

He's clearly a League 1 player technically and can run games when he wants to but it just wasn't enough, very inconsistent.

Arguably Derek trying to constantly work him into the side was a factor in our relegation. He slowed games down when we wanted to be quick on the counter, Jensen Weir pretty much fell off a cliff once he was forced to play out wide, and he was our main goalscoring threat!

He sounds ideal for us really, we’re going to try and dominate possession every game and want technical players we can get on the ball, never going to be a counter attacking side at all. Hopefully it’s similar to Bostock where a guy with talent clearly above this level but a bit of a nomadic career can find a home.

Can’t remember the last time we paid transfer fees for 3 players in the same window, (it’s probably never happened) very happy with our business so far, maybe I’m just easily pleased but I’m confident of a good season with this lot.

Pretty much the whole team is technically proficient, whether that will be enough a division up playing other teams with similar ability and better remains to be seen. We've lost our no 10 and if he can play incisive forward passes and assists he might be a like for like replacement although Rodrigues scored plenty of goals and Crowley never really has.

Don't get some of our fans saying they wouldn't have Vernam back. He's a top end league 2 player who is proven to get goals/assists from wide areas. Wouldn't have thought twice about bringing him back.

Our ITK on twitter claiming a defender is coming in. Would imagine it's a first choice LB as anything else would be pure lunacy.

Hopefully someone pacy and athletic, someone similar to Headly who was on loan at Harrogate.
