Maybe not relegation, but those two playing together I think will bring out the worst in each other.

So I've heard about him being highly rated, and clearly is if we've granted a one year extension but the actions of our coaching team don't really suggest it which is why I'm scratching my head a little. When Horsfall was out we brought in Tranmere's last choice centre back rather than trust him for 4-6 weeks and he's been hooked off at half time on more than one occasion.

Had a great game against Orient, but I think they must have had a 4 pints and a spoons breakfast before the match the way they played.
Yeah totally agree.

A highly-rated player doesn’t not play for 5 months despite being fit. A highly-rated player would fill in when Horsfall went down injured. A highly-rated player of his age isn’t sent out on loan for the season.

I very much doubt he’ll ever play for us again.

Not sure what Wimbledon are playing at signing our 6th/7th choice CBs. I thought they’d both head back to the NL this season.

Not sure he’d be heading your way to be a squad player. Defeats the point of going out on loan.
If they're hurtling towards relegation with him starting as you and Ellis are suggesting I doubt they'll think "better keep playing him or Stockport will think it's defeated the point of the loan".

Speaking of weird messageboards, and we're definitely near the top of the list, I can't work out the Wimbledon one at all!
It's a hark back to the old Weird and Wonderful Guestbook from the late 90s/early 2000s which was described as a cyber pub. I struggled with it at first but I've been posting on there for over 15 years. Before the advent of Facebook and Twitter we only got our information from the Official Website and those in the know on WUP. A number of posters on there aren't on most social media so they get their information from WUP.

And most Wimbledon fans I know won't touch it with a bargepole. Some very unpleasant posters, quite apart from being unreadable.

Absolutely. I'm not sure if he will be a starter. If he gets his chance and plays well so be it but I very much doubt Wimbledon are under any obligation to play him.

I’m not suggesting he’ll be finishing the season as a starter but I’d just be surprised if he’s going there thinking he’s starting on the bench.

Obligation absolutely not. But I’d very surprised if he’s chatted to your manager about his role and he’s said he sees him as a squad player and he’s still agreed to come. Generally players go out on loan to play.

Well Johnson aside who we signed from you our other 3 centre halves we currently have played a grand total of 68 game's between them last season !!! All 3 are injury prone so I've no doubt that he will get game time.

Forest Green
Goalkeeper Luke McGee signs for us. Any good Forest Green fans?

Another one who was superb when we won the league, but like others was caught up in the absolute clusterfuck we made of last season and was (unfairly imo) bombed out on loan in January. Very good shot stopper and decent at communicating with his defence

We’ve basically swapped keepers and paid you money on top of it, all for us to end up with the vastly inferior player. Great business for you, laughable from us.

Didn’t see much of him with us, but as we had him on loan I’ve noticed more when we’ve played him. Looks a solid keeper to me. That guy you had last season against us was appalling so he won’t be any worse.

A lot can change in a few weeks and it's a very sudden change of heart. Perhaps Adebisi's fitness has been well below the standard upon reporting back to preseason? He's a player whose had quite a few injury layoffs in the past and I personally think he's a major weak link in this side. He'll almost certainly be released next May as well. I dont mind Charlie Finney having a run at LB but we can't play Zac there again. He was terrible in that position last season. So I'd disagree with his earlier assessment but then again I'd take what managers say in such situations with a pinch of salt. If there's someone out there we can afford that will improve us then the club will absolutely pounce on the opportunity if they can do so.

I think we'll get a winger in regardless but seems Southampton want a considerable amount of Olaigbe's wages paid so its either a proven LB or the other in that regard. Adding pace into this side is a must.

Lloyd would be affordable and can also play centrally but he doesn't seem to stick around at a club for long. I wonder why that is?
Is the Adebisi stuff something you've heard or speculation on your part? I agree with his flaws, but I disagree about him being a major weak link. Full backs rarely win or lose you a game, as good or bad as they are. Lets be realistic here, the play-offs are probably out of reach, so a mid-table/top half finish is good enough for me. Can he and Finney man the LB spot for 1 more season? I think so. Sure, if they find a decent LB who they think will improve the team, great. But then it leaves them with 2 players who they don't have spots for. Hence why I'd rather they roll with those 2, flaws and all, and invest the money further forward where the depth and proven quality is still thin.

Olaigbe would be nice, but plenty of other forwards could be available. Shaqai Forde at Watford intrigues me. As for Lloyd, I would give him a 1 year deal with the option of a 2nd based on appearances. That way if he doesn't stick for personality reasons, they can drum him out pretty easily. Hopeful either Tabs or Holicek can maybe emerge as an option out there as well.

I'm expecting an announcement or two this week, I don't think we've announced any signings before July for the past few seasons.

Stephen Walker is on trial with us. Do any MK, Crewe or Boro fans have any insight into his ability?

Quite a few of our fans really rated him during his first spell in 19-20. I thought he was very average. 2nd loan spell didn't go so well either. Played mostly RW, but could go down the middle as well perhaps. Seems to have failed to kick on, but Simpson could well polish him up like he did with Patrick and Dennis. If he signs of course.

Pretty solid, a real fan favourite but more for him being the best time waster I’ve ever seen. A few weren’t too sad to lose him but I’d say a solid keeper is worth his weight on gold at times & we’re proving that it’s going to be tough to replace him.

Odd mistake in him but nothing out of the ordinary for a L2 keeper.

Traore aside, the Forest Green old boys we’ve signed have been pretty decent in their time at Rovers. Hope McGee another to add to that list.

The wait is over - Aaron Nemane re-signs, brilliant last season. Really wanted him to stay, his impact is apparent in the video of Langstaff’s 42 goals, Nemane’s involved in probably more of them than anyone else (Ruben included). Also loved how he stepped up in the playoff final in a game where so many others underperformed.

His last ditch tackle at 2-2 in extra time against B Wood was one of the moments of the season IMO.

He was fantastic considering it was his first season playing that position, he should keep improving there, particularly defensively, and someone that fast is always going to be a weapon going forward.

Reckon that might be us done. Maybe another centre back but I keep forgetting about Brindley because he was out injured for half the season and he probably slots back in as first choice on the right which helps the high line a lot.

Scored a great goal vs Macclesfield in L2 and had a great performance vs Blackpool in L1 but he was bang average. I wouldn't say terrible because his attitude was good and he was quick but he was definitely lacking in end product.

A lad on one of our message boards has said Omari Patrick is signing.

Highly doubt that’s true but you never know.

Do you think you'll utilise him the same way? I felt he struggled to make an impact against us with Notts unable to play their game to their full effect with us exploiting the Notts high line over and over. Mendy also got the better of him.

One thing's for sure, you won't be boring to watch next season.

Said it earlier in the thread, but I don’t think we’re going to change.

I think the game at your place was a bit unfair to judge us on anyway because we were without Baldwin and Brindley who are our only two centre backs with any pace. Obviously we recklessly didn’t adapt at all with the Cameron/Bajrami/Rawlinson back three who are all very slow, but it wasn’t really a reflection of our defence for most of the season. I think if Baldwin, in particular, hadn’t been ill then we would probably have won that game from 1-0 up considering the disaster Baj had in his position.
