I’ve just seen Miller is only 24, back to back double figure seasons and over 200 games under his belt already, struggling to see why he gets so much shit?

Then again I’ve seen he’s played for Bradford so most of the noise has obviously come from there, which I’m fast starting to realise is not the place you go for accurate accounts of players abilities.

Yeah it's bit like how Akil Wright is a bit of a meme for the Wrexham fans because he was a pretty shit midfielder in a shit side ages ago.

(Probably cursed him to have a turd season now!)

Players can improve quite a lot in a few years, would have liked us to sign Miller last season as it was rumoured we were interested in him. He looked pretty decent against us in the away game I think.

Go ask the Walsall fans then.

But rich coming from a fan base who think Andy Cook is shit.

Sean McConville is probably the best example of this - he was shocking for a number of NW clubs, so much so that Stockport fans took the piss out of us for an entire game when we signed him as he was that shit. We probably did the same to Chester after we released him. One of the most ineffectual players I’ve seen in a Barrow shirt.

I think he has since played about 200 games in League One and is probably Accrington’s best-ever player.

Who thinks Andy Cook is shit?

I was massively impressed by him against us last season, put himself about all game and won every header and was a general nuisance.

Very interesting player. I believe he's related to John Coleman's No. 2 and, as a young lad, he chased the money when he left Accrington first time around. And in his first spell he did look like he was going up the leagues as well he was that good.

But like you said, he bombed at Stockport and elsewhere in non league. But goes to Accrington and he's forged himself a good career at L1 level for the last few years.

Shaun Whalley is another one of those players. Had years bouncing around the NWs non league clubs and looked to be out of his depth in L2 with Luton, but ended up at Shrewsbury and became one of their best players in L1. It's worth noting he had a lot of personal issues when he was younger though which may have had a significant impact on his playing career.

He was dogturd for us and had probably the worst attitude of any professional footballer I've seen. Proper pantomine villain. Our horrible scouse contingent of Jon Miles, Jon Nolan and McConville. The social loafers as Gannon put it..

Usually ends up getting sent off when he plays against us as the feeling of hate is very mutual. Still remember the game when I think he was playing for Chester and Kristian Dennis got sent off for punching him!

Plenty of your fans were on Twitter giving it the big one because he didn’t score.

We can only comment on his time with us, and trust me, he was dire.

He actually looked like a fan who had won a raffle to play for his team, headless chicken, or Bantam in our case, ran fast, but nowhere near the ball or anticipating where he should be.

Maybe he has improved a bit since then, but he's a million miles of the standard required for PNE in the Championship

Of all the players to use as an example you use a player we all think is good, shoddy work
Nonsense we got plenty of comments on Twitter when the ‘fat lad’ failed to score against you. And comments saying he never does anything against us etc.

Anyone know of Josh Morris? He was trialling at our friendly yesterday. Presuming he's the player wiki chucked up he's been around a bit including Bradford, Fleetwood and Salford. Doesn't seem to see out his contract anywhere either.

Can’t really remember him with us, but he was fantastic at Fleetwood the season after he left. Didn’t do much at Salford I don’t think.

Always a bit wide of the mark when people get pulled up on their club's forum or Twitter following on here.

Most Town fans I know thought Cook was okay for us but nothing special. Was never a Hurst type player so it never really fully clicked for him with us. It's obvious he's kicked on in a massive way since then though.

Worth pointing out that this time last year some of you on here had him down as bench fodder...

Maybe you’re correct but we all do it let’s be honest, just like the Grimsby fan on her generalising all Bradford fans became of a comment made by Firthy.

People expected Oliver to be the start which he was, but Cook was our top scorer the 2 seasons before so fans didn’t see him as ‘fodder’ it was Hughes who looked for alternatives and found non.

This is just from the first two pages of searching for Cook and before August 2022. Hard to imagine these comments from you lot this summer.
Yeah he’ll score and I like him, just don’t think he’s any use as a lone striker not really got the pace, mobility and hold up to perform the role and I think that’s what we’ll be after.

Got to be happy with Timi based on the comments of the Pools fans, on Andy Cook, to repeat what’s been said - more than decent striker for this league but not suited to how we set up under Hughes last season. TFF exclusive rumour, Charlie Savage on loan a potential.

I wouldn’t label Andy Cook “marquee”. Furthermore, any ‘substantial bids’ would be accepted, I imagine.

With this being said, I do think Cook will have a decent season. He’s trimmed right down and actually looks like a professional footballer.

Reports that 4 players leaving us this week, wouldn't surprise me to see Andy Cook rocking up at Hartlepool

I reckon Cook will be here for the first half of the season at least, to fight for his spot, as it stands though he’s about one of six going for the lone strikers spot. Can see him waiting until January to move on as he did at Mansfield to come here, main issue I’d guess would be his wages for the sort of club who’d be in for him.

Wouldn’t surprise me if Andy Cook was leading your line, our squad is complete and we’re looking to get players off the books. Cook was mentioned in the local rag today, although it didn’t go as far as saying he was leaving but it wouldn’t surprise me.

I wouldn’t worry, plenty of time to get deals done.

Threlkeld was primarily a defensive midfielder before his arrival here - also attempts to play RB on occasions. He’s available.

I can see Andy Cook rocking up at a club like yours anorl, y’know.

Cook is quite an underrated/value player generally I find. I get why, he doesn't fit the mould of a modern striker and his style doesn't always endear him to even supporters of his current club...but I still find it a bit mad given his record. He's consistently bagged pretty much season after season for years and years now. Written off many times but he keeps on coming back. Not dissing anyone by quoting those posts above or anything, I just find it interesting that he doesn't get the credit he probably deserves over his career. Grimsby fans have obviously played a part in that narrative too.

Yeah. Strange one that seeing as he played in 2 friendlies for us - albeit very low key friendlies. Presume Flynn didn’t fancy him - or he didn’t fancy us!

So what’s changed from you releasing him to wanting to resign him

We look to be signing Alex Bass from Sunderland on a year's loan and the other rumour is we are after nicking another striker off crawley. I recon Oteh. Could be Telford.
Oteh is out of contract. We have offered a deal but no news on him signing it. He was a real hero for us at the end of the season. The amount of running back and forth he should have been labelled a box to box midfielder. He is not a starting striker in our side and I reckon that or a promise to play up front is probably why he didnt sign

Telford is reckoned to be on £4k a week. Of the top of my head he scored 9 goals from open play last season.

I honestly think wagmi have run out of money for us. Hence the better paid players are disappearing.

Dreadful attitude but there was always a player there, his time at Accrington shows what can happen when you sort your priorities. Nolan, too.

It's a bit different to players who are turd due to a chronic lack of ability.

Tbf you can add Mark Hughes into the ‘bench fodder’ category as that’s exactly where he started last season behind Oliver who came in as first choice.
