Bit of gossip on our forum that we're looking at George Miller from Doncaster who Ryan Lowe knows from his Bury days.

I had Ryan Lowe down as a good manager, but if he thinks Miller can do a job in the Championship, I will change my mind. The lad is barely good enough for league 2. Runs around a lot, but dear me, he's poor

We look to be signing Alex Bass from Sunderland on a year's loan and the other rumour is we are after nicking another striker off crawley. I recon Oteh. Could be Telford.

We had Bass on loan season before last. Definition of bang average. Would make the odd worldy save but absolutely had an error or two every game.

Other we had a few years back under Bowyer. Again, bang average being kind. Willing runner but definitely not a reliable source of goals. Unsure what he is like nowadays.

Well we’ve signed Emile Acquah from Maidenhead, making the average height of our strike force 6’6”.

Oh, and he’s highly rated.

Bass would imo have to fight with tzanev for number 1 while Oteh would be the 4th striker and would complete our 4 mostly as a sub, back up. If him coming is more than a rumour

Weirdly Miller was by far the best striker I saw in person last season at our place, must’ve been a fluke but he looked the real deal

Acquah is a big unit, but I’d be surprised if he was up to much at this level tbh.

Yeah, he's big but never really seems to know what to do with that. He did score a few last season though, and he's quite young so may develop into a useful player?

Looks like we’re going to be the short kings of the division. Everyone else is compiling NBA teams.

Acquah’s terrible by the way but also will absolutely bundle one or two in against us from 4 yards out again at some point this season.

Lowe will probably try and convert him into a backup left wing back. He fucking loves wing backs who aren't actually wingbacks.

Odd signing if it happens, but we've signed stranger.

Unfortunately we are shopping at Farmfoods while getting the odd bit from Tesco in order to compete. The top sides at this level frequent Waitrose.

Parky said he met with 2 free agents over the weekend, waiting for answers. In talk with a free clubs over contracted players also. Sounds like we will be looking to bring atleast 4 in

For all those slagging Miller off, we were utter shite last year, he also got injured and missed a fair few games yet despite those setbacks he still scored 12 goals so he ain’t that shite, I agree with a bit more control and the ability to hold a thought for longer than 10 seconds he might have scored another 10 but that shouldn’t detract from the fact that he scored double figures for a manager who thought playing good passes in his own half was a bigger positive than actually trying to score a goal

Ex player recap - More chance of George Clooney signing for PNE than Miller.
Alex Bass - Far too inconsistent, one worldie followed by throwing the ball in his own net, there’s no in between and more likely to cost points than save them.

Wondering if any L2 comrades recognise this chap. He was at our friendly tonight and seems to be a new signing or trialist.

We've been scouting Alex Hartridge from Exeter for the last few months of the season if rumours are too be believed. Can't say I've ever heard or seen of him

We'll be closer to you lot than the basketball teams. Don't think any of our strikers are over 6' and we're not particularly tall in midfield.

There's some genuinely good strikers in NL, and you sign Emile Acquah

I had nowt to do with it.

All this criticism of him is totally at odds with what the Maidenhead fans seem to think of him - I guess we won’t know until a few months in, but he should thrive with Worrall and Whitfield getting the crosses in for him. We badly needed a target man last season and now we have three.

He sounds a bit like a pacier version of Michael Rankin, who we signed as a young raw player in the NL and who then went on to have an EFL career that didn't look possible at 1st glance.

Cannot fault his work rate & when his confidence is up he is decent, however when confidence is low it is a tough watch, I remember open goal misses at Mansfield & Sutton (I think) last season that were easier to score, If the rumours are true & PNE are chucking good money for him I would let him go.

We were weirdly linked with him by a guy on The Fishy who was absolutely convinced he was at our game and said he had photographic evidence of it. Turns out he was also pictured by Wimbledon training in bloody Spain that day so mass excitement quickly turned to shit, a really weird and random name to come up with

This is pure guesswork as there is a blackout on any signings

Moore-Taylor and Malife from FGR
Frith from Villa

For now. Got injured for the end of last season and only got his protective boot off a couple of weeks ago. Was definitely on our Spain trip. If he comes back playing the way he did last season I'd expect a lot of clubs sniffing around him in January, and not from this division.

We had Miller on loan from Bury years ago. Despite not scoring in the five games he played he sufficiently impressed that his name is thrown about by fans to this day. He looked very promising as a young player.
