Ethan Bristow has moved to Minnesota United for an undisclosed fee. A top player who will go on to having a good career, attitude always seemed spot on too. Fee rumored to be in the region of 300/400 K which we now need to see re invested in to the squad.

We have then signed Jake Leake on loan from Hull for the season. Know absolutely nothing about him apart from he is a fullback, and comes with a 'highly rated' claxon tag.

None of us had ever heard of Ethan Bristow in 2022. That worked out great.

We had Leake last season in the NL.

He was good going forward, not great defensively. Bare in mind this was in a horrendous team so he may be much better with actual CB's next to him.

Gillingham have signed centre back Shad Ogie from ourselves, I'm actually a bit sad to see him go as he is quite a talented player and did well for us in the 2021/22 season (after going out on loan to Dover and Aldershot), part of which was under Kenny Jackett so no suprise he's gone in for him.

At the end of the 2021/22 season he was sent off against Northampton for Violent conduct and got a 3 game ban - which carried over into last season and despite Ogie probably being a better player than Dan Happe, he never managed to get his place back in the team as Omar Beckles and Dan Happe forged a very good pairing and played nearly every game until January when Happe got injured.

He was a bit unlucky when Happe got injured in January, because he too got injured at the same time in the same game. When then signed centre back Ed Turns on loan from Brighton who turned out being an excellent signing, so when Ogie got himself fit again - he still couldn't get into the team.

He was going into the last year of his contract and wasn't going to be first choice, for me he is too talented and would be wasted to be sitting on the bench so it makes sense to cash in on him now if he won't play much again because it would be tougher to justify keeping him in 12 months.

Quick, strong, good with the ball at his feet, good tackler and dribbler. I did hear his attitude went a bit big headed after he signed his last contract with us, wouldn't always listen to the different coaches instructions and Wellens had to put him in line a few times.

Good signing for Gills though, we will likely have a sell on clause because he has the potential to play higher.

Thanks for that I’ll pass it on, I believe he was also played under Hess at Dover, from your summary it sounds like he’s a good prospect.

He sounds a bit similar to Bristow, though the defensive side of Bristow’s game improved with experience. However Bristow came to us with a handful of Championship games under his belt, while Leake has only played non-league so far. Is he quick for a defender?

Agree. Hearing good things about him from O’s fans on Twitter. Wonder if he’s going to be good enough to be a starter from the off? Maybe in a back 3/5. If he’s a left sided CB (is that correct?) he’ll probably be understudy to Connor Masterson if we play a back 4

Yeah he’s really quick, can bomb up and down the wing.

If your LCB is pretty good then he should be a useful addition

Did Curtis Tilt to Salford get mentioned yet? Ridiculous signing. Quietly going about assembling the meanest defence in the division there.

Thanks, feeling a bit more hopeful about him as a Bristow replacement now. Seen footage of the goal he scored for Scunny and that looked quality too.

Gives us a bit of flexibility at the back to play either a 3 or a 4. Good to have the option, especially seeing as the 'popular' tactic is a 3 man defence in this division these days.

Josef Yarney is currently on trial with us. Got Oldhams player of the season last season and can play centre back or right back which is exactly what we need.

To be honest, he seems like the type of player you dont need to see on trial, and to just offer a contact.

We had him on trial at the start of the summer. Binned off pretty quickly.
