Josef Yarney is currently on trial with us. Got Oldhams player of the season last season and can play centre back or right back which is exactly what we need.

To be honest, he seems like the type of player you dont need to see on trial, and to just offer a contact.

Fuck all. Lost 2 players already to long term injuries. Fill the squad with kindergarten loans and hope for best/worst.
Surprising and disappointing. Like us, Swindon should not really be in this division. No one else's fault that we are.

Expecting a centre back signing today at Field Mill before squad go to Scotland.

Looks like it’s George Williams recently at Cambridge, a bit weird one for CB cover considering he’s more of a full back I think.

Right back but can cover at CB. I wouldn’t want him starting at CB every week as he’s too small. Good signing though.

Not that surprising really. We both know clubs get caught in a cycle and find it hard to break out. Sometimes needs a seismic shift to get things going in the right direction. Still think/hope Flynn will get more out of our underperforming players from last season, but with the obvious uptick in quality in L2 this season it may still just be a standing still one.

Looked bang average in the national league for Chesterfield and Oldham. Did only see him a few times though so maybe just had off days

Matty Taylor returns.

Good news
Interesting to see how he does, he looked pretty poor for us mostly last season on loan, scored a couple of pens but missed some real sitters. League below though he should have a chance to find his form back but depends if he was just losing his legs or if it was confidence from being out of form at Oxford when he came.

I think there is quite a big gap in quality between the two divisions, or certainly seemed like it to us, so on that basis I definitely think he could have a decent number of goals still in him at this level.

Definitely happy to see him back, the sort of experience we needed up front.

If you get Matty Stevens back to his 2021/22 form and Taylor clicking then you’d have a top forward line again. Was a shame to see you struggle after your efforts to get up but hopefully can shock the bigger fish in here and get back up again.

The good thing with Taylor is he does still have a knack of getting into the right positions even if his radar on finishing wasn’t quite right. Truth be told though once Crosby took over and switched to 3-4-3 that just did not suit Taylor. If he has someone alongside him in a two he should still be a reasonable goal threat.

Sounds like Lewis will be staying. Excellent news.

Still think he will be off before end of August. I just hope we have our eyes on a decent replacement. Can't be going into season with Doyle and young Richardson as our options

Yeah, I hope we've been looking for a replacement just in case. Got really lucky with Lewis so hopefully we strike gold again.

County have released Scott Quigley, who is joining Eastleigh.

An expected departure but I'd have thought he would stay in the NW

Just like Barclay another marquee signing on a three year deal who ended up out on loan in their second year and then paid up before their final year.

Least we’ll always have that Bolton performance to remember him by.

Weird it’s a loan. Very Doyle-esque. Happy enough with that.

After his performances for Hartlepool I can’t believe Franchise aren’t giving him a chance for them.

He's best as a 10, Alexander doesn't set up with a 10. Wouldn't be surprised to see Conor Grant on his way for the same reason. Shame.

Yep big gap between L1 and L2. I think you're being a written off a bit too easily when you consider this. Without knowing much about you, the chances are a few of your players that didn't perform last year will find life easier next season.

Yep what are they playing at? I'd have had him here in a heartbeat. Cracking signing for Swindon.

yes, especially the reason why he was signing for us/you gazumped us was that they wanted to be nearer family back home in Shrewsbury way

that must all be sorted now then?

Quigley's moving closer to home excuse when he left us didn't really wash regardless, we trained in the Manchester area anyway. It was only really the spending the Friday in Barrow training and doing community stuff before a Saturday home game that was out of the norm. I'd have more respect for footballers if they just admitted they were making a move for more money (as the majority of people do in every walk of life) rather than giving every other excuse.
