I think Rupp wouldn’t think twice about throwing £250k on the table, it’ll come down to Sparks - and I can’t see Sparks paying decent fees for players again until we’re back in L1.

If we look back at fees paid for by Rupp since 2016.

Romain Vincelot - £100k
Alex Jones - £35k
Jacob Hanson - £15k
Charlie Wyke - £250k
Shay McCarten - £200k
Dom Poleon - £75k
Jake Reeves - £150k
Joe Riley - £75k
Connor Wood - £35k
Sean Scanell - £50k
Eoin Doyle - £200k
Jermaine Anderson - £25k
Tyler French - £35k
Jackson Longridge - £35k
Paudie O’Connor - £80k
Kurtis Guthrie - £90k
Lee Novak - £50k
Elliot Watt - £75k
Niall Canavan - £35k
Danny Rose - £50k
Charles Vernam - ??
Ollie Crankshaw - £25k
Mann Osedebe, Jake Young and Timi - ???

What a waste of money.
You paid 90k for Kurtis Guthrie?!!!

And 35k for Tyler French. He arguably cost us promotion season before last.
Think it’s fair to say neither teams defences were on top in that game, 7 headed goals is pretty ridiculous really.

True and to be fair to Nixon he seems to get a few right with us. His source is possibly the agent though which leads me back to my first line.
You could be right but as he’s not a free agent and could easily at the very least get a loan move to L1 I’m not sure the motive for that from the agent is there.

Apparently he's also said we are interested in Matty Virtue from Blackpool.
We had him on loan last season and it was very much a case of us wanting to sign him and him wanting to come here but as soon as Critchley was appointed, that ended it because they're really close and Virtue is one his trusted players (I'm assuming they worked together in the Liverpool Academy). We've not even attempted to sign him off the back of that - not that we'd spend £200k on a CM with a year left on his deal anyway - but if there was any chance of us getting hold of him we'd have at least made a move by now but haven't.

Will be interesting to see whether Critchley's stance on him changes as the summer progresses. Maybe their Championship money will see them target better players and he'll drop down the pecking order.

Latest rumours for us
Joe Piggott from Ipswich
Sean Ragget from Portsmouth
Sheyi Ojo from Cardiff
Harris would love Raggett, it'd be a shame for him to drop to L2 though albeit could be for location reasons because he's from around there I think?

Indeed, Raggett was born in Gillingham itself, Pigott down the road in Maidstone. Not entirely sure if that’s the sole reason for the rumours tbh.

Is that the lad who McAtee skinned for Taylor's goal in the semi? He was comfortably the worst player on the pitch yep.

Was surprised Wrexham actually gave us money for French.

Nah you released him from his contract and we signed him. Pre takeover days so we didn't pay for anyone.

We did get money for him from Dundee mind.

I have thankfully wiped that game from my memory but I remember he was all over the place the entire game. Having him and Cleworth in our defensive three for that game, with Dibble in goal, really showed up how shallow our squad was that season.

French also gave away a last minute penalty to Boreham Wood which dropped two points which might have changed the complexion of the league going into the Dagenham game.

Are you forgetting KEVIN ROBERTS?

So shocking that we paid money for a player we sang a song about it.

Think we paid for Durrell too but they're the only 2 that spring to mind.

Oh yes I do ever paying for Durrell. That went well.

I liked Kev Roberts! The epitome of a non league defender though, and shocking we paid money for him.

We’ve had a couple of loan offers for Jake Young. Wouldn’t be at all surprised if Grimsby was one of them, but Young has declined both clubs.

If he doesn’t go out on loan at some point, he’s going to have almost no game time this season - Hughes has made that very clear.

Vadaine Oliver has suffered an injury which will keep him out of the squad for some time. Hughes has stated we may need to replace him - I don’t think we do, but whatever.

We’re trying to get others out the door either on perms/loans, but this is proving difficult. Presumably because they’re reluctant to dropping down a level or two. Luke Hendrie and Jake Young specifically.

In other news, Oscar Threlkeld in talks with Morecambe. I mean, I know he follows Derek Adams wherever he goes, but I’m amazed that he might have found a league club. He’s absolutely gash - and injury prone now, too.

Chances of Timi getting sent out on loan this season?

Honestly, I’ve no idea.

Hughes doesn’t seem to rate him, but we have changed formation this season, so there is an onus on us needing three CB’s fit at any one time. We currently have 5 on the books, so it seems unlikely.

Less likely than last season and he wasn’t shifted along then.

Dan Kemp rumoured, but I’ve had what optimism I started with sucked out of me by now. Depressing as fuck.

Great little player, 9 goals in 16 for us, excellent free kick on him, very high highs, but when he's anonymous he really is.

Runs around a lot and not without skill.

Marmite with the fans - if you like effort you'll love Dan.

Think the Young links have all been made up by Town fans putting two and two together, but you never know one of those clubs might well have been us.
