The green pund.

Next year we buy loads of Chinese players.
If any of them played, that would be an extremely bad idea.

I'd love to see how Zhang Yuning would do though. Trouble is he's probably on about 15-20k a week because of how Chinese players are overvalued in the CFA, (because of registration rules.

We've signed Adam Campbell on a 1 year contract from Gateshead.

Last I heard he was at the pies.

Everyone seems to think he's great when he signs but none seem sorry to see him go.

I think that means Adeyamo's knee injury is worse than first thought.

Don't know what to make of the McLean signing myself tbh....used to think he was a horrible sh'itehouse tbh, because of his poppy shenanigans, etc.
But aparently he's always 'a fans fav' because of his efforts when wearing the shirt....a 100%'er....and as we ALL know, the moment you see a player running & chasing everyrthing...he's a winner.
As for the fee...250K? For a 34yr-old? All I'll say is, don't believe anything you read in the media...especially if it's to do with Wrexham! They'll stick any fee/figure they like on, and it's 'gospel'... straight away!
I’m reliably informed that the fee was nowhere near that. Less than £100k.

He played 46 games in the Championship last season, He was Wigan’s player of the season and he just got his 100th cap for the Republic of Ireland. It’s hard to argue that he isn’t a good signing.

Is that Luke Armstrong? He would be a great signing.

But it looks as if McClean did cost 250k and is on 12k a week. Absolutle waste of money that, you probably could have made a couple of good shrewd signings instead and still be good enough to go up from this league.

Looks to me like your club is under pressure to make pointless big money signings because of your wealth, this really is a bad bit of business for a 34 year old who will be even older at a higher level if you go up to L1.
It is Luke Armstrong.

McClean. £250k is way off. Wigan needed to get him off the wage bill and wanted £100k which we said no to. That’s why it took longer than hoped.

Stockport County.
Yeah good player Armstrong, scores goals everywhere. I don't have the stats to hand but he scores a decent number for Harrogate despite them being a middle to poor side at this level.

His Dad's a legend with us so many always want him here, rumour is he'd be wary of coming here if it ever came about due to concerns about comparisons.

Fox in the box, he'd bag for Wrexham with the balls in the box etc.

Worrying signs for Crawley

Adam is a great bloke but he's not league standard. Team player, gives 100% but no serious team pays a fee for him

Too lightweight, can't kick a football very hard or far... Didn't pull up trees in the NLN or NL

Yeah I'd love Armstrong here but we can't afford him, anyone buying off Harrogate is paying premium. Still if you're splashing 300k+ on LWB cover that's hardly a problem.

Again though, Armstrong is a very good L2 striker but there are question marks over whether he is good enough for L1. You could probably spend that money more wisely.

Campbell did very well in NLN at both Darlington and Gateshead. Decent goals return, and very good assists record. Not that that will have a bearing on him in the EFL, but have to be fair to him.

We’ve got some right weird old lags being linked - supposedly an ex PL at the fag end of their career. Troy Deeney and Wilfrid Bony mentioned, Connor Wickham and Ched Evans.

Bony? Aaaaargh!

Colchester signed Joe Taylor on loan from us today in amongst their game being postponed.

He’s a forward. Intrigued to see how he does at league 2 level, was used off the bench mainly for us having signed in January - seemed to be a willing runner mainly and put himself about. He seems a confident lad though, came on late in the playoff final had a goal ruled out and then volunteered to take a penalty in the shootout. Pretty brave thing to do having nothing more than an extremely fringe player for half a season.

Not played for years

Not played much but he did play a couple of games in Bolivia this earlier this year apparently for Always Ready. Before that he was at Nijmegen in Holland.

Absolutely gutted to see Armstrong go. His loss will make staying up that bit harder. I realise careers are short and players have to earn their money when they can but the way it lhas happened leaves a bad taste. Wait until the first game of the season and then refused to play for the team he is under contract with

Although we beat Donny, I think we lacked the sharpness up front he offers.

He's a tidy footballer, always gives his best but he is small. At 5'8" he's a league player all day long but at 5 '4" he tends to get overrun and it did for him at Notts in the end . Couldn't quite make it at Morecambe either and found his level with Gateshead.
I always liked him and have sort of watched his career from afar and hope the move works out for him.

As mentioned on the L1 transfer thread we’re also in for Luke Armstrong, apparently. Now if he’s likely to cost £250k plus then we surely won’t pay that as our transfer record (for Nombe) is approx £100k. That said, we have plenty of cash from the recent Ampadu sell on and selling Archie Collins for a ‘high 6 figure fee’ plus still waiting on Swansea to pay for Josh Key which will be close to £1M, so who knows, we may be #goingforit

Instead of having 20-25 shit players you instead have 40 shit players with the hope some of the shittest ones (b team) develop so they are a bit less shit and can play in the first team eventually.

Seems to be linked with us and you. We can offered more wages no doubt but he'd probably play more for you, he be competing for Mullins spot which is nailed down when he's back. Unless he can play the target man role bit he's only 6ft
