I’d much rather Dan Kemp than Payne, Payne was good for us for half a season but that’s years ago and can only imagine he’s got worse since then. Can only imagine something is wrong behind the scenes like us with Jake Young. Because that piece of business makes no sense.
Lots of teams probably would, but I'd rather not have a player that doesn't want to be here and couldn't get into the team under 3 different managers, and Payne seems like he'll be a good option to have if we change our formation.

Alfie Pond joining us on loan, young defender from Wolves.

#highlyrated klaxon.
Came through our academy and big things were expected of him. Rumours of a fall out with Matt Taylor about playing time surfaced and before you know it, he was sold to Wolves. Definitely a talent and should be a good signing for you.

Let's hope Payne doesn't decide to switch off for half a season for you like he did us.

Absolute waste of talent that lad, shouldnt be in L2. Career has passed him by.
He was great for us. Wouldn’t swap him for Kemp though.

We’ve loaned James Connolly to Morecambe. Good signing for them, he was nearly flawless in our L2 promotion season.

Lot of huff and puff and charging around but very little quality on the the ball sadly, absolutely should be in L2.
Yep, he's not L1 quality. It's not through lack of trying, he just isn't good to play consistently at L1 level, his output fall off a cliff.

I thought Ryan Finnigan to County was done about 2 weeks ago but apparently we've still got a chance of getting him back. MK supposedly in for him too.

There’s been nothing on our end about him at all, though we have said we’re after 2 or 3 more, so after Armstrong and Tomlinson I wouldn’t rule it out if GA wants more bodies in the middle.

Yeah, this is the first I've heard about it so might be new interest. As far as I've known for the last few weeks, he had a decision between us or County.

expecting 1 or 2 incomings today - one in defence (probably James Chester?) and one in midfield. and no out goings

We signed a young loan midfielder from Swansea earlier in the week, we're pretty heavy in that area of the pitch, I don't see us in for him.

I think our incoming are done, possibly one or two out.

Apparently we were in for him too!

I would be so happy if we got Finnigan back, we all assumed he'd be playing at a higher level than L2 this season.

Hearing a winger from Swindon on loan?

Also not likely to sign a striker, was after Hopper but won't pay a fee and loft but he is off to Vale

Maybe Shade, but he’s not a winger. Scored a fantastic goal last Saturday. Not done much else, tbh. Be better as a No. 10. Down the pecking order here.

Official line is we are done, so unless we sell someone it’s doubtful we will bring anyone in.

you're starting to sound like HelloGregory the fan of beleaguered Carlisle United......

We're going down!

The rumours so far are possible three incoming Hanlan (six figure fee but nothing like the 350k doing the rounds)
George Evans from Millwall
Ben Garratt free agent GK.

Possibly some out too. Not sure who or whether permanent or loans but there are some likely candidates - Bickerstaff on loan maybe. McFazdene on his way? MacAlinden maybe? Those are probably just wishful thinking.

Bar a wonder goal vs Vale for us in 2013, Evans was diabolical for us. I used to call him the crab. Was scared of shooting and making a forward pass much like Ollie Turton was. Cant believe both have forged Championship careers for themselves although Turton was changed to a RB where he was still mediocre. Cant knock the professionalism though. Evans worked hard but just looked poor but we were also a poor side at the time. I guess Championship managers love safe players that won't say boo to a goose hence his many years at that level.

Garratt I said about him in an earlier post.

If you want to do well in the EFL, I'd bin off the useless MacFadzean sharpish. In my all time worst Crewe XI at LB. I've never seen a more clueless defender play for us and we've had some poor players.

Not exactly promotion calibre signings if you ask me. I've seen Hanlan do the rounds last few years but he's never struck me as a danger man. I'm less clued up about him than the others mind.

Also a random Twitter rumour about Arthur Okonkwo. Keeper from Arsenal potentially on loan.

Excellent keeper but they recalled him from us in January last year to send him to Sturm Graz because he was far too good for L2 level.

Cant see him dropping below a top League One side if I'm honest.

We're also done apparently.

Apparently we were looking to dump Madden to York to bring in players, which if true is yet another staggering piece of idiocy by our recruitment team. Glad that fell through.

Garratt Im very wary of. Sounds like his confidence is well and truly destroyed and given your earlier assessment of him he doesn't sound particularly promising.

Evans seems to have done well two levels above this one in the ten years since he played at Crewe so I'm a little more positive about that one. We are crying out for a defensive midfielder.

Hanlan also would offer something we don't have in the squad. Mullin is back training and maybe only a month or two away from a return so hopefully a goalscorer isn't that high a priority.

McFazdene did a good job when he came in but anyone who wasn't national league level would have improved us at left back at that point. He's been largely poor since then and also does stupid things like his idiotic red card away at Barnet last season. McClean and Mendy are ahead of him in the pecking order and we have the players who can cover that position when needed (both of those have had international call ups so there will be games when they are missing). So yeah, he has no role at the club. Back to the National league or a hard up L2 side maybe.

He was comical against us, but clearly #highlyrated by Arsenal and the Crewe fans.

Rayhaan Tulloch, forward from West Brom coming in on loan, has knocked around at a few lower league clubs on loan by the looks of it.

I'd say the whole team were a disgrace that day given they didn't have a single shot on goal. To single out Okonkwo would be harsh in those circumstances.

10 clean sheets in 23 appearances an excellent return. Did have a nervy first few 6 or 7 games but he improved considerably until his recall.

Beadle was the better keeper out of the two mind.
