With the bad news that Cedwyn Scott is now out long term, following a similar diagnosis for Bajrami we should really be in for one new addition. Neither starting XI players but both players who are great for squad rotation and impact subs.

They 100% are.

Do think our pre-season has been crap though. Boyle's okay but not really blown anyone away, we've brought in 2 young keepers who nobody has heard of and likely won't feature at all this year, leaving our best signing (on paper) to be McClean. I honestly expected more.
It's almost as if adopting a shortsighted and needlessly extravagant approach to getting out of the NL at all costs combined with shouting off the rooftops about multiple commercial ventures and gains wasn't a particularly sensible strategy that was going to lend itself well to getting decent deals on players further up the pyramid?

It's alright we will be signing some more teenagers who have never played professional football to save our season. Can't wait.

Would have rather we dropped our wallet on Armstrong even at that eyewatering transfer fee than give Nick Powell £8k a week for three seasons. At least Armstrong will manage to start more than 10 matches a season and is a position we've been crying out for since March.

That’s mental to be fair, 8k three years what a waste that may turn out to be.

It's like that time we announced Peter Gwyn & Sons Quality Potatoes as sleeve sponsor all over again. I wish they'd learn.

Absolutely disgusting that he has been priced off the sleeve slot and replaced by Ryan Reynolds' Cookie Dough Flavored Aviation Potatoes.

It's a real shame about Ced, but I'm not sure we need a replacement for him as much as we do Bajrami. As someone else said earlier in the thread, CM cover for Palmer and Bostock would be my top priority and I'd rather a CB over cover for Scott.

What's the deal with loans outside the window? Can you still get monthly ones or is it just not possible at all barring some sort of crisis?

I think it's going to be an unmitigated disaster.

Imagine if you split that up for two players instead, likely get two quality L1 players that actually play if homework done right.

Once that window shuts there’s no loans. Only players that are OOC.

Agree regarding CM more pressing but who's your replacement within the squad for Ced?

Tall and robust are the adjectives I've heard about him but I've only seen him for a few minutes and I wasn't paying much attention.

He had some issues with finishing but that does mean he was getting into the positions...!

Casey
Pretty fair description. Played pretty well on Monday being a nuisance from the front. Took his goal well but skied a 1 on 1 a couple minutes after.

Realistically it's Morias if fit, I doubt he'll play with Langstaff at any point but if Langstaff can't play we have him and McGoldrick who can play that role. 3 strikers for one place in the team should be enough. In terms of the two 10s, where he plays a bit, I'd be comfortable with McGoldrick, Crowley, Austin and Jones, plus Bostock or Palmer but you don't really want to move them from CM.

He played a bit in preseason but not since. Still injured apparently, "a few weeks" away.

Aaron Rowe in on loan from Huddersfield. Sounds like a talented but injury-prone winger. Was on loan at Stockport last season and seems like he did nothing for them.

How come his surname isn't Kane if he's the England captain's brother?
Either because he changed his name because he didn't want to be associated with Tottenham or I can't spell minkhosta.

Casey

Yeah, got it wrong.

He's always struggled holding a place in our team, under various different managers. He's a centre back by trade but I think Harry must have nicked all the Weetabix because he's not the biggest or strongest, so I suspect that's why he's never nailed that, but he's made a little side gig as a defensively reliable stay at home left back as well when needed. He's been bit part for years, but he doesn't bitch, always ready when needed, tries hard and has a great attitude. I think you'll like him and there's a lot of Chesterfield fans glad this isn't permanent

Joe White in on loan from Newcastle is our next one. Don't know much about him except he's a midfielder who has had loan spells with Hartlepool and Exeter.

The system we are playing of 3 at the back but the wing backs pushed forward a stay at home centre/left back could come in handy.

We have been playing Ransom there who has being doing well but he is right footed. With Conroy injured (again) my preference would be to play Ransom in the middle, Wright on the right and, hopefully, Maguire on the left.

It's also nice to hear a decent appraisal of a player. Thank you.

Or, as last Saturday, none at the back. Worked a treat!
