I think you could describe him as a number 8. Box to box, can hit a good free kick and takes a good corner. Pre-takeover he was probably our best player for a number of seasons and would be expected to fit into roles he wasn't really suited like CDM. He's the ultimate pro, trains well, doesn't moan, always puts in effort. Not the most talented player ever but a solid player at this level imo. Was only really in Non League for so long because he suffered a bad injury when he was at Torquay at a time when looked like he was going to get a big move back into the league.

Will be sorry to see him go in many ways but he just isn't likely to play much with our squad as it is
I look forward to him signing and then warming the bench in place of a centre half in midfield.

Walsall fans, doesn't sound like Skubala is too keen on recalling Draper in January if he can help it. He didn't say he definitely wouldn't be doing but we seem happy that he's playing games week in, week out and that's obviously something he wouldn't be doing here.

Suspect our January transfer business will dictate what we do but I'd personally be amazed if we recalled him.

Few reports linking our centre half Connor O'Riordan to Blackburn for £500,000.

Hope we've learned our lessons when we lost our last crop of stars, including 1 to Blackburn for cut price figures. I'd want at least 750,000 and big sell on fee for COR. He's destined for big things. A young u21 international centre back, that's tall, can play with the ball at his feet and has a great knack of scoring goals. I wouldn't be shocked to see him playing Premier league football at some stage in his career.

I'm told he is the one player at the club with a release clause so we might not have too much of a say.

Born in Walsall, and a former Walsall youth player, this one seems to make a LOT of sense geographically It also makes sense financially - Swindon are clearly struggling
Hutton from swindon bullshit i reckon.

We’re signing Luke Armstrong from Harrogate.

Any good?

Lewis Macari, on loan from Stoke made permanent. Very happy with this, he's been our most consistent defender when picked.
Think he'll now be first choice on the right of defence, we've been cagey not playing him all that often and subbing him even though he's stood out as being reliable, hope and expect him to kick on now.

Also happy with this. We have a good squad that is well set for next few years with lots of players in mid 20s. We have next to no youngsters (18-23) who are contributing or even close to contributing to the first team. So this is a very welcome addition.

James Belshaw, who had been doing utterly sterling work for us as keeper on emergency loan from Bristol Rovers since September has gone back to the Gas.....only to be loaned out again immediately, also seemingly on emergency terms, to Harrogate.

I hope we purchase him in January, best keeper we've had for years, great at being part of the team, too.

I don't know much about L2 players either if I'm honest so I'm curious about this one too mate.

I think Wrexham fans down here might know something more as he has been their number one transfer target for months now and they tried to sign him on deadline day which would have been their record fee, but they messed it up and now we look to have swooped in and blown them out of the water for the upcoming window.
It helps to have more money than them at our disposal and also with us playing at a higher level he will much prefer to play for us I'm sure.

He hasn't blown me away but he's 21 and not horribly incompetent so no complaints from me. Based on the comments made on the official site I don't think we're ruling out bringing someone else in to play ahead of him though, this is presumably a signing more for the future.

Am I being an idiot, how have we announced a permanent signing outside of a window?

Blackburn going to have our pants down again then. Probably the best we can hope for is a loan back for the rest of the season again.

Carlisle signing Armstrong would be a hell of a result for us.

Why? I don’t think you were being forced at gunpoint to sign him. If he’s that bad, just don’t sign him, regardless of whether we’re in for him or not.

Heard there was a gentleman's agreement to sign him and I reckon at an inflated price.

We can do better. Carlisle probably can't bless 'em.

he's not a bad player, and would have been a decent signing for us. But not at the reported 500k Harrogate were holding out for. I was resigned to the fact we'd probably come back in for him but hoped that it would be at a lower price. A lot of our fans have taken against him already because of the perception that's he's both greedy and has downed tools since the move fell through. Probably best for everyone if Carlisle swoop in now.

Was 500k the deal you’d agreed for him on summer deadline day before it collapsed?

If it is indeed true that we have got him, I can assure you we haven’t paid 500k or anywhere near that for him. For a 27 year old unproven at League One level I’d be surprised if it’s even half that.

He's on loan until the window opens but he's out of contract at Stoke when the window opens so I presume we have signed him on a permanent but it won't kick in until January.

Apparently so. Could just be paper talk though, they do tend to inflate stuff when it comes to us. He'd be cheaper than that im sure, although he has got 18 months left on his contract.

Carlisle are moneybags now thougg, everyone knows that, so I'm sure Harrogate won't just let him leave for nothing.

Carlisle fans coming down here claiming they don't know anything about League 2 despite being mainstays for the last decade. See you again next season lads.
Carlisle are gonna be Premier League within 5 years now they’ve seemingly got a bit of cash.

At least, they are inside Carver’s head anyway.

Nowhere near as stinking as your lot on your fans forum, what a deluded bunch to think you're after Dion Charles from Bolton.

I don't think Blackburn are the only ones after him but they'll be absolutely laughing if they manage to get him on the cheap after doing the same with Pickering.
