Apparently so. Possibly we feel obligated to buy him as he's now frozen out at Harrogate?

Hopefully a lot less than 500k though, that was a ludicrous fee even when you add in the Wrexham tax.
You know Wrexham tax doesn't go down. 600k.

Lots of rumours starting to swirl about around our January targets. Armstrong of course (hopefully for less than the 500k rumoured in the summer), Khan at Swindon and Offord at Crewe
Offord would be an interesting one. We're gonna lose him for nothing in the summer so I've no idea what sort of offer would be enough to sell him to a promotion and local rival at this point. With Wrexham tax included, we'd probably be looking at £3.5m at least.

We should try and get Jake Young back, always rated him. We certainly could do with him. Maybe Bradford could loan him here, we're no threat to the playoffs unlike Swindon.

I suspect that Jake Young and Dan Kemp are likely to be recalled to be sold. Both are in red hot form so its a real shame they are just loan players, but cest la vie.

Young, definite recall. Kemp, not too sure.

A weird one on our site today - Luke Young to Notts. Doesn't seem a Williams type player but with Palmer out maybe there is truth in it? he's surplus to requirements with us. He takes a decent corner too, but obviously that wouldn't interest LW.

We'll definitely be in for a midfielder with Palmer's injury and Gosling not really proving his fitness (although he did start and play well vs Shrews last week). Not heard his name though - Scott Robertson from Fleetwood has been doing the rounds. I wouldn't be too disappointed with Young, always thought he's a decent enough player with a bit of quality.

Six foot five centre back Conor Keeley from Drogheda United seems to be a badly kept secret that's done and dusted as well.

Young is the sort of player who always gives 100% and never let's you down effort wise, he's been very good for us for a long time. He'd be a very good signing for anyone in the National League and he certainly is good enough to play League Two football. He's out of contract in the summer and barely featuring for us this year so would probably suit us if he can get a decent move- he's only 30 as well.

Williams absolutely loves Jim O'Brien, who is similar but too old to play every game. He's basically come out and said that there's no point trying to directly replace Palmer because he's unique at this level, so I wouldn't be hugely surprised by someone like Young to try and tide us over until the summer. Bostock has dropped into Palmer's role anyway now really, so imagine it'll be someone more box-to-box that we sign.

Our owners saying they will invest money in the playing squad in January.

Won't make a difference if they're coached and managed by Mat Sadler mind.

Absolutely zero chance we'd entertain selling anyone to a promotion rival so we can nip that one in the bud right now.

Promotion with him in the side is worth seven figures to us. Selling him we'd get a quarter of that and a sell on if we're lucky. Might as well keep him and let him walk in Summer.

Looks like there will be a few of us looking to strengthen in January.
Brad has said that it will be quality, not quantity for us in January with two or three quality additions.

"Were going for quality not quantity" = we won't be bringing many in.

No-one just goes for 'quantity'..... apart from Grimsby.

I know you’re fishing but I’ll bite…23 senior players and 5 of them are out injured…

Not sure if they were bad or we were good but they both looked pretty ordinary. Kemp may have been put off by the franchise chants. Not my thing.

Rumour although came from 1 bloke in the pub last night, but he has been right in the past.

We're looking at Hutton from Swindon.
Cant see much truth in it myself we already have Barnett and Forde, Mendy can cover that side too. Hossanah isn't even registered but still on the books

I highly doubt it re Kemp and chants. Both looked ordinary but then so did the whole team. Wimbledon however looked very good.

Yep, it's an odd take that's come a few times from fans of clubs with 30+ players in their squads.

It was a joke based on the fact you seemed to buy about 40 players this summer - mostly because you bought everyone really early and it seemed like Grimsby were the club buying anyone for a time.

I'm not being serious. You can all relax.

Saw that on our forum too. If we are looking at bringing in a midfielder (the lad at Swindon for an inflated fee maybe?) then Young probably is surplus to requirements.

Top lad. A solid League 2 player and top pro.

What type of midfielder is he mate? we could do with a proper number 8 type.

I think you could describe him as a number 8. Box to box, can hit a good free kick and takes a good corner. Pre-takeover he was probably our best player for a number of seasons and would be expected to fit into roles he wasn't really suited like CDM. He's the ultimate pro, trains well, doesn't moan, always puts in effort. Not the most talented player ever but a solid player at this level imo. Was only really in Non League for so long because he suffered a bad injury when he was at Torquay at a time when looked like he was going to get a big move back into the league.

Will be sorry to see him go in many ways but he just isn't likely to play much with our squad as it is
