Alex Bass hasn't been recalled so remains with us for the rest of the season. He's not bad but not good enough for Sunderland in the Championship. Fully expecting him to be loaned out again or sold to a L1 or L2 club in the summer.

You all need to stop sitting on the fence, is this Osadebe any good or not?

I’ve seen Morecambe have signed ex-Man City wonderkid Brandon Barker. Looks good on paper but has barely played in the past year after struggling in the Cypriot league.

Vadaine Oliver and Steve Evans is such an obvious match-up.

As for Stockton, he shot himself in the football twice last season because a) he absolutely downed tools at Morecambe when he didn't get his own way (and that put a lot of clubs off to start with and b) off the back of only scoring goals at Morecambe, he got greedy with his wage demands.

A sensible head on his shoulder Stockton doesn't end up miles away from the NW in bloody Burton.

Great to see another young #highlyrated future superstar join the ranks. Looks like another one is on the way from Man United. All at literally 0 cost to us and with the Joe Lewis money looking set to be spent on advancing the academy to even higher levels even after they beat Oldham 13-0 yesterday.

I'll discuss the "Emerging Talents Programme" at a later date, it would genuinley blow some people on here's minds to be honest, it would need hours of explanation to describe the science behind it.
Most people here don't stun us with science they baffle us with bullshit!

We’ve rejected the first bid for Conteh, feels inevitable we’ll lose him now but it’s a matter of how much we’ll hold out for.

To make a tidy profit after only having had him 5 months is a big plus and a good sign of how we’re planning on doing things. Just have to hope it’s invested wisely and not spunked on a 3 year deal for Harvey fucking Rodgers.
Sell Conteh to us then sign Bogarde on loan from Villa... he would boss L2 and everyones a winner!

Apparently Oyedele is our 17th loan signing in the last 18 months. 8th so far this season. 4 have gone back, but we're likely to see a couple more coming in going by what Deeney has said. Which means we'll be back to situation we had in the second half of last season where we had more loans then are allowed in a matchday squad.

Pretty shitty rule imo, EFL should be changing it to max 5 in a line up and another 3 on the bench.

Disagree, 5 is plenty (more than there should be imo) otherwise you have over half a side made up of borrowed players. Then many will change clubs again in Jan making the whole loan system even more of a farce than it already is

Mad Gav has just completed his media duties. He was asked about Hutton and said 'everyone knows Gillingham have deep pockets so people will be shocked when they hear what his wages are now'

I don't particularly like these kind of 'digs' but I don't suppose he's telling people what they don't already know.

We've heard at our end it's an awful lot of wage money, there was no way we were going to match it. Far too much money for any player in our wage structure never mind a right full back.

He seems a decent player to me, particularly if you're playing wing backs so I think he'll do quite well down there.

Heard Hutton is on the same wages we are paying Nick Powell. More than doubled our offer at the last minute.

Exactly the tone heard our end last January for Hawkins and Laps, like I said the latter got his wages doubled and it’s not like we don’t pay well at this level.

Good luck to em, not quite figured it out yet mind.

Think the problem is they have a bit of a daft giddy owner rather than an organised structure telling him when to reign it back in or walk away.

We're obviously one of the biggest payers in the division so for them to more than double our offer for a fullback who hasn't proven himself outside of playing for a mid table league 2 club is staggering. Least with Powell the ridiculous wage is understandable as paper he looks a top league 1/decent championship player.

Anything less than play-offs is an absolute disaster of a season from them IMO.

According to the same source that said we were in for Hutton, we're also in for Jack Marriot along with Mansfield.

we have signed Ronan Curtis til the end of the season. happy with this one.
Me too. Obviously he's been out injured a long time, but he's been training with us for some time. I very much doubt we would have offered him a contract unless he's very close to full fitness given we are not exactly flush with cash while paying off the new stadium...
Could be a good deal for both parties, Curtis gets to prove his fitness and put himself in the shop window, we get a player that when fully fit would be out of our league (literally), and at a time when we are very short on attacking players.

Pretty sure I’ve heard that in prior windows, if we are after him he is definitely not our #1 choice that’s Lee Gregory.

Quite the opposite, our owner is an incredibly level-headed guy with a very good business head on his shoulders.

As literally no-one on here knows how much Hutton has been offered to play for us it's all conjecture, but we identified an attacking right wing back as a priority this window and have gone out and got one - possibly the best in his role in the league (certainly in terms of attacking output) - seems pretty organised to me.

It's not like last January when we were just signing pretty much middle of the road League Two players (Lapslie, Hawkins, Nichols) to lift us from the bottom of the league to the middle of it. We've signed one player this January. We're not far off the play-offs having spent 90% of the season being totally underwhelming despite having a reasonable squad, so adding just a few players like Hutton who is (statistically) the best we could get from League Two in that role is promising and makes us a stronger unit without too much tinkering. Sooner or later we'll get back to League One I'm sure where the sort of spending we're doing at the moment would still have us comfortably in the bottom half of that league in terms of expenditure.

Still probably need a couple in before the window shuts but that does seem to depend on getting a couple out - Lewis Walker has gone to Woking, Shaun Williams isn't getting a sniff at the moment so I'd like to think we could agree a settlement with him, and then maybe one of the forwards could also head out - most likely Nichols I'd imagine.

That Twitter account also reckons Notts have made a 500k offer to Walsall for Isaac Hutchinson. They just make stuff up.
No chance we would sell him to anyone in this division wouldn't be surprised if there is interest though .

I’m not knocking Hutton but you are right - he’s probably the best as an attacking RWB in L2. But you’ve given him a 3 year contract which, from our end, on unbelievable money and if you go up he’ll be distinctly average in L1. If you’re willing to pay big money you need to be looking at players who could hack it in the league above - either from that league or maybe punts on a young, less exposed player who could improve.
