Sounds like he would have signed for Luton if Still had stayed. Typical JS signing that.

He's played over 200 games at a higher level so I'm pleased with this. Think he will fit in well with what he have.
He's not as bad as some of our fans would make out, but he's a complete lunatic who racks up a lot of cards.
Decent pace, hard working and not afraid to get stuck in. Can't really cross and doesn't score enough goals to be worth his high wages.

Apparently we're after some player called Roofe from Oxford so it should be an easy buy from them, can't say I've heard of him before, is he any good Oxford fans? We could use some strength in depth.
I've heard that he wears a hat.

It's widely acknowledged that we turned down the chance of signing Oliver Hawkins a few years back from Northwood as the MT didn't deem him to be good enough. :ffs:

Tall, lanky striker (think he's 6'3/6'4) who's a right nuisance and can take penalty kicks. Not the quickest but his build isn't tailored into running in behind defenders. Think Daggers fans will take to him if gets some time, he certainly gives 100%.

It'll be interesting to see how he fits in. He'd presumably be competing with Doidge for his place and he appears to have played ok recently.

Thanks for the info.

To be fair to Williamson, you boys are flying and he's hardly got a look in. He works hard, has great pace and really stretches the game in key points. BW and Barry Corr really struck up a partnership whilst he was he, so we are all delighted to have signed him.

I would suggest League two is his level, but if you and Port Vale signed him expecting 20 goals a season I can see why you may have been disappointed. Ben does the ugly stuff that allows the other striker or midfielders bombing on the space to score a goal. That's certainly what he brought to our team on his loan.

As for the undisclosed fee, I would suggest a bag of footballs and a few mars bars :bg:

We had him for 2 years in League Two and he did ok but nothing more, always seemed to be the hope next year he will finally click and he just never really did.

Joh Yves-Mvoto apparently quit us at half time yesterday and walked out the ground! His contract was up and the club already wanted him to stay, but he just quit apparently!!!

We've had a bid for Gary Liddle knocked back by Bradford.

Probably go back in with another..?

I'm surprised the club has come out with it, still time for some other club to get him from right under our noses.

Parkinson has said he's going to talk to Liddle about it. I reckon they are expecting another more acceptable bid.

If we sign him then I'd say we will probably have the best midfielder in this league, Bradford fans are absolutely shocked by all this and say he's one of their best players, wonder how much we're paying for him because if it's that serious we could be breaking our transfer record here.

It won't be much, he's 29 and out of contract in the summer.

Edit: I didn't realise he's a first team regular there, mind... surely still won't be much though?!

Liddle will want to stay in L1 I reckon, either with us or someone else. He's better than L2 really. He was one of our best players last year. I'm surprised we are letting him go but he's far from a regular starter this season and maybe he's on a packet.

Yes but you have to remember that our current transfer record is Joe Garner where we paid £140,000 for him and that is relatively cheap by todays standards.

We may only be 10th in L2 but we are still well with in a shout of the playoffs with many games in hand, our manager is very serious about moving us forward, so these are the types of signings we will be making more often. So it would probably be best for Liddle to join a club like us who are on the up looking to get into L1 and beyond rather than joining a bottom half L1 club like Oldham for example who have no ambitions.

Fair do's, I'm just going off the fact that there's only five players ('keeper included) in your squad who've made more appearances this season so far...

I can't see him wanting to drop down either, for what it's worth.

So they should. It's like us selling a player to Macclesfield.

Apparently we want to take Glen Rea, who is a defender from Brighton on loan. Don't know about him but he has been on loan at Southend and they apparently also want him back. We need some decent centre halves but you'd expect him and Brighton would want him to go to a higher level club if it's available. Maybe working with Jones again will have some away in it.

Fine with Adams going to Mansfield. Hated the fact we let him go when we had no fit left-backs but Milsom looks a very good player now he's fit. Adams isn't good enough whereby we can promise him regular football but probably too good and expensive to be sat on the bench as a back-up.

Need to trim the squad and cut the wage bill enough to bring in a centre-back too I suspect. Which should be the priority.

He started a few games at the start of the season until we got a lad called Evans in on loan from Wolves who is now number one choice so he's vying for the other spot with 3 or 4 others, plus him and Evans don't really work together that well. He's got a bit of game time again recently because 2 have been injured and Billy Knotts form has nose dived. Personally I think it was harsh to drop him and he'd be a great signing for Carlisle if you manage it. I want to keep him for the squad for sure.

I doubt Curle would just blindly bid for players, he doesn't seem like the type to me. I would assume there's been some indication from Liddle's agent who he's already spoken to that he would be willing to drop down a level. If that's the case then it's just about agreeing a fee, I wouldn't have thought Bradford would have any problem accepting a fee for him when he's gone for free in the summer anyway.

We've turned down a bid from a club in a higher division for Tom Nichols.

Wigan, Barnsley, Peterborough & Leeds all rumoured to be interested.

Liddle is splitting opinion amongst the Bradford fans, I think they'd all ideally like him to stay but as he's out of contract soon and they could get some cash for him now he could be forced out by Parkinson it seems. If we got him we could get rid of Dicker in the summer who I assume is a high earner, probably similair to what Liddle would be on although likely a little bit more as he was a Kav signing.

Midfield seems to be where we're struggling at the moment, games have been bypassing it recently and we've become much more direct. Liddle would hopefully be there to break up opposition play as well as link defence to more attacking midfielders like Kennedy and Hery. Not sure if he could play in a 2 alongside Joyce, probably could work in a 3 which may be what Curle wants to revert to in the form of either 3-5-2 or 4-3-3. I'd be interested to see a team like this if Liddle did sign:

Gillespie
Miller Atkinson Raynes Grainger
Joyce Kennedy Liddle
Gilliead Ibehre Asamoah

Hartlepool have signed Ellis Harrison on a months loan from us (Bristol Rovers). Clarke didn't want to let him go but couldn't promise him any starts in the forseeable future with Taylor, Gaffney and Easter currently ahead of him in the pecking order.

Clarke insists this is just to get him game time and that he wants him back at Rovers in February ready to fight for his place. Hope that's the case because I do rate Ellis and we'll need all our strikers for the run in.

I think he'll do well for Hartlepool. He has all the attributes to be a top striker but he's still only 21 and hasn't yet managed to produce on a consistent basis. I think if he's given a run of games and they play to his strengths he will get goals.

We probably wont look to bring anyone in on loan to cover his absence because we also have Billy Bodin who can play up front.

He's much better than Palmer to be fair. When we played Stevenage he put himself about and caused our defence a few problems with his strength, Got there goal aswell but he couldn't really miss it.
