Funso is a class player, just his attitude that is in question, we turned down a bid from Bolton for him last year.

The reason we only won 2 matches was our non existent strike force and leaky defense... both which need addressing still, midfield wise we are probably as strong as any at this level. Its the rest of it thats the problem!

Two of our midfielders hit double figures in League One in a dire side last season, Funso holds it together (add Ronan Curtis and Croasdale and thats ready to go IMO) but of course with the likes of Garrity and Funso we may of course lose them if we dont resist bids from above.

and 1 of them was against us during our run of zero goals scored in about a year

Never has someone been so overrated for passing sideways and pointing at others as Ojo is. If he left you wouldn’t notice any discernible drop in the way we played.

Being linked with Jordan Smith who was released by Stockport. Need a backup keeper to Ripley I guess, again one I’ve heard the name before but no idea if he can actually play or not.

Where do you reckon, Stockport?.

We are well stocked for attacking midfielders otherwise I would have loved to see him come home. You are probably aware he spent 10 years with us as a kid.
Highly doubt it, Challinor was happy to let him come to us two years ago as there was no place for him in their side.

Whitfield clearly grown up a bit from when he got bombed out by John Askey from Vale. Always had talent just at that time never used to make the most of it so fair play to him for turning it round.

Early season he was levels above, his control and movement, tore Mansfield to pieces. Just depends if he wants to be part of it though.

Liked Whitfield, always seemed to score a stunner!

Oh course scored one of the most important goals arguably in our history with the late winner against Chesterfield when down to 10 men... lose that we go down to non league.

No chance. Like has been said, he didn't really cut it for us in the NL, never mind signing him in L1. He always plays well against us either for Torquay where we signed him from or Barrow after he left us but seems nothing more than a decent but inconsistent L2 winger to me. Will have done well to get himself a L1 gig IMO.

We don't know a lot about him. Signed last summer, 1 year deal, Hinchliffe didn't miss a game. Think Smith played in the Papa Johns shit but I didn't watch that. Closest I've seen of him is in the warm ups if I've got in the ground early and he's always looked pretty small for a goalkeeper.

Be a similar situation here then as Ripley is the surefire number 1 (watch us go and sell him now I’ve said that). Basically last season we had Jason Leutwiler whose job it was to warm the bench and play Pizza trophy games so if he’s content with that then can see it happening.

It did seem like the most Burton Albion signing ever and so it proved.

Burton making some pretty questionable signings.

Michael Flynn hinting that Charlie Austin might well be signing for us.

I still don't see it unless Matty Taylor goes out first.

Charlie tweeted he might need a 'top hat' emoji next to 'eyes' emoji today. He could just be going to Ascot right enough but I'm sure as a horse racing fanatic and getting on well with Flynn a move to Cheltenham seems a no brainer.

How many of this relegated Port Vale side that have only won two league matches this calendar year are the best players in their position at this level then?
I think we've probably got 3 players currently that are more than capable of league 1. Garrity and Chislett who both got double figures from midfield and possibly Ojo when he can be bothered. I'd say Garrity would easily be one of the best attacking midfielders in league 2( he was last time we were here). It's just the rest of the squad that needs serious work. We had shite strikers and couldn't defend. The midfield, especially with Curtis added, will be one of the best.

Ripley will be one of the league's best GK.
Smith will be in the top bracket of CB.
Garrity, Ojo, Croasdale and Chislett will undoubtedly be at the very top of midfields in the league.

Everything else is either okay or nowhere near good enough. Curtis will be decent I feel. We need a commanding CB, a new LB, set of new wingers, and a whole strikeforce to be anywhere near the top 7 though as the others and the squad players really aren't very good at all.

Second most clean sheets last season and sounds like he had a good year with Wimbledon, sound. Very much a continuation of our first two signings, targeting proven League Two players in the positions that cost us last season.

Pretty much any goalkeeper was going to be an upgrade on what we had to endure last season but great we’ve invested in the position rather than found another stop gap

Looked a decent keeper last season. On paper at least Notts are looking a lot more solid at the back this year.

I remember he pulled off a wonder save right on front of the away end from that Langstaff fella when the game was tied 2-2 down at AFC last season. That's all I've got to go on but on reputation that's a nice upgrade.

Would be good to hear Wimbledon fans thoughts from last season.

He looked a very solid keeper from what I saw last season.

He was a bit weird when he was here. 1/10 in home matches and 10/10 away. Kinda reminded me a bit of Donovan Ricketts. Pulling off worldies and then letting in pea-rollers. Entertaining mind you.

Imo best keeper in league last season. Second in clean sheet tally playing behind a 10th place defence. The stockport lad won by one clean sheet but obviously behind a way better defence.
Calm on ball and good distribution. Quality player

Seems miles better than anything we had last season. We’ve added a lot of EFL appearances so far this summer which we massively lacked last year.

Alan 'bit in paper/patreon twat' Nixon says we're in for Wyke or that it's possible, which means we're not in for him, because Alan Nixon doesn't get anything right when it comes to us.

Honestly I’d break the wage structure for him if I were Bradford. Could genuinely be the difference between playoffs and automatics.

I wish we were in for him.

I totally agree and said the same thing earlier today.

Wyke, a decent LWB and a dominant centre half, and I would fancy us for top 3 for sure

We’ve signed Reading defender Matty Carson on a 2 year deal, club hasn’t announced it yet but Peter O’Rourke has and I’ve genuinely never known O’Rourke get anything wrong.
