I think it takes a specific type of manager/person, especially in the lower leagues who's happy working in that kind of environment. Most prefer to identify targets themselves and do the player signing. It is more of a head coach you've got than a manager. Still, you've got to say it's had more success than failure so far.I think you can look at it in 2 ways - one they don’t really back a specific manager with signings - it’s not like when a Steve Evans rocks up at a club and wants all his guys and then it’s an expensive gamble. So if Maynard doesn’t work out, we’d replace him with a coach of a similar profile who can work with the same group of players
Second way is of course that Maynard has little excuse now, the bomb scares we had in defence last season and consistent ‘individual errors’ are the only reasons I’m not ‘out’ on him, I think he starts the season under more pressure than pretty much any other manager in the league
