It’s a good start, we’ve been crying for a proven scorer and he is certainly that, should be good for 15 plus, actually scored as many goals against us than any of our strikers managed for us all season last season!

If we can get a decent left back/wing back and a big solid L2 centre half we won’t be far off, plus another striker to boost the number and a keeper as back up to Ripper.

They said outgoings wouldn’t need to happen to dictate what we bring in so could see some deadwood left out the squad like when a few did in the start of the promotion season.

I liked him at Mansfield and was excited when we signed him but we wasted him in our relegation season although I'd put very little blame on him for that, still managed a goal ever 2 1/2 games for us.
I think he should have a season left in him but think his best is perhaps behind him.

GK Sam Hornby last with Colchester in on trial here by the looks of it. Players been in today for fitness testing before pre season starts and he’s seen on a few videos.

If that’s the route we’re going down bringing trialist GK’s in then it would suggest we’re looking at putting Boot as number 1 next season which I wouldn’t mind at all. Been consistently one of the best in the NL for years and never let us down last season when he stepped in.
