We have Kevin McDonald surplus to requirements mate. You are very welcome to take him off our hands

Interesting. I’ll pass that name on.
Gregory may well be interested with it being his geographical scouting network.

I think he will bud! because if the fee i am hearing is right Huw Jenkins has absolutely pulled their pants down and bent them over.

Dom Telford Mk2

Radford is a tight bastard with transfer fees, it’s worth noting atleast since he got stung with Steve Evans and David Flitcroft.

I'd have Miller here for sure. Solid enough 4th tier striker. Not sure if he's particularly an Artell type of player though.

Did you see the interview with Artell saying Luker is highly unlikely now as there is a lot of competition from higher up? Do we think that is actually the case or is he just putting the groundwork in so that when we sign him he can say what a coup he is?

Also wouldn't be surprised if we're trying to bring Davies in on a permanent deal.
Hope you do get Davies. He deserves a fresh start with a crack at a decent L2 club and with Pearson there I imagine he'd settle in quickly.

A long-shot, but Alan Nixon has linked us (and Blackpool) to Elliot Embleton. Can't see it happening, but happy to be proven wrong.

Yeah could be a good deal for all parties really. Assuming he knows Tharme too from your youth setup?

He'd be Mullin's backup. He doesn't fit the profile of strikers we typically partner Mullin with.

We're light up top, but would rather we do better for starters. Would've liked Evans as backup/rotation.

Let’s see how he deals with a step up before making comments like that or you can end up looking silly. Not took much notice of him personally despite his impressive goal return in a side that finished 18th. Gotta be able to handle the step up, no idea if he can or not.

I actually like George, works hard and scores, misses the odd sitter but doesn’t put him off. He just doesn’t fit in the way play, we’ve been approached and would get a fee. I’m sure Grant has a replacement lined up so I expect that’s the reason he can leave. Good luck to the lad wherever he ends up.
Wouldn't surprise me if it's us he did well here and he works hard which Sadler loves in a player depends on wages though we aren't big payers.

From what I heard Artell wanted him in on a permanent but Wrexham only want a loan deal.

It's not really silly to say he isn't better than Mullin though is it? That's fairly obvious.

McDonald is indeed very much available. I'd guess for him at this point in his career, opportunities both on and off the field may be more important than matching his salary.
Last season he still looked decent enough when he played. Hard to say whether he's in decline. Do clubs get the opportunity to run tests on potential players such as speed and stamina?
I know that pundits are always making up some nonsense about squads. Bradford's is too old apparently, but someone else reckoned that an L2 squad was too young, and McDonald would be excellent if you need a veteran who can lead by example and notice things during the match.

Anyone got any midfielders they don’t need and could spare?

We’ve only got two and they aren’t that good. It’s going to be a disastrous start to the season if we don’t strengthen that area.

If you could provide me with names I’ll then pass on to our head of recruitment Gregory.
We`ve got dozens but Moore doesn`t know what to do with them.

Yeah i've heard that as well. Be a good move for him, but can't see why he'd move permanently - has a fairly new opened pub on the edge of town in Llay.

Got one of the hardest shots i've ever seen and not afraid to shoot from distance. Can let the game go by at times.

Also lives right by there too, I can't see him uprooting his young family. He's got a year left on his contract so I highly doubt it'll be a permanent, makes no sense for Grimsby when they can get him on loan. He'll get released next summer and a good season at Grimsby would give him a choice of clubs at L2 level.

I'm surprised others clubs aren't in for him, everyone would like a midfielder who is a goal threat, I suspect he'd go to Crewe tomorrow if they were in for him for example.

We're trying to protect ourselves from you lot taking him back in Jan and obviously we want good players in on two/three year deals. If it's all down to Davies himself then fair enough, but if it's Wrexham saying he can't sign permanently then it seems a bit odd considering it sounds like he's surplus to requirements.

I really can't see him committing himself to a long contract at Grimsby due to location. Loan makes perfect sense, even if we put a recall in I doubt we would use it as we are stacked in midfield already.

Saw a few things on your forum saying that he was injured last season, think he had a knock at the start but he was basically available all the time from then. It's all about desire with him, needs to get it back.

No that’s a fair comment, but your other options are not up to much and I think he be very welcome in that squad.

I agree that he'd likely be an improvement on them, but I doubt he'd partner Mullin as he's not the sort of player we partner Mullin with. That's what I was getting at.

It only makes perfect sense for Davies and Wrexham though. If he's that desperate to stay in the West and doesn't want to relocate then don't sign for a club on the other side of the country. I'm already concerned that he'll come here, have a good first half of the season and then he'll get someone like Bradford in his agent's ear and before you know it he's getting Wrexham to recall him in Jan so he can play somewhere closer to home for the second half of the season.

The deal that makes perfect sense for all is a one year permanent deal with us with no option. It's essentially a season long loan but we're protected and Davies is a free agent in the summer.

We are having our open day and a player is there who isn't one we have by the looks of it, appears to be either Romany Critchlow maybe or Michael Hector?

It’s not Critchlow.
Suggestions it is Milan Mbeng (another centre half!) who has been on trial with Darrell at Barnsley, Frenchman who's come through Charleroi and played in the Belgian third tier last season!

The drums are beating and they’re saying Will Swan to Notts, rumour is he asked to leave after becoming enamoured by our project and padelball courts and they’ve been forced to overpay for Will Evans as a replacement

He’ll have to wind his neck in if he signs.

A few on X suggesting we might be bringing Josh Austerfield back, who we had last season on loan from Huddersfield. I thought he started well buy fizzled out last season whilst on loan, overall a little meh. Also not sure centre mid is tye position we need most, I'd be more happy to see us bring in a left back or left winger over a central player.

It's come from Alan Nixon, who I'd imagine has been fed this by Austerfield's agent to drum up interest. Also seen it suggested that it's rubbish and we haven't made contact.

I agree that we need to prioritise a wide player, look weak at both full back spots and LW as you say.
