Hamstring is a dodgy injury, especially when it keeps recurring

Very true. A shame for Shecks as I really rate him but pleased we have addressed the RB issue. a GK and a powerful LCB would do me now.

I’ve heard Tyrer is a no go. We’ve told Everton we can’t commit to giving him first team football because of how well Boot has done so they’re not fussed now. Likely see Blackman come in as back up I’d have thought?

In terms of CB, unless Williams / Palmer moved on I can’t see us bringing anyone else in there

It's come from Alan Nixon, who I'd imagine has been fed this by Austerfield's agent to drum up interest. Also seen it suggested that it's rubbish and we haven't made contact.

I agree that we need to prioritise a wide player, look weak at both full back spots and LW as you say.
How reliable is Nixon? He says Crawley are trying to sign Matty Young from us. Must be Jake's brother.

A right back is he? When I saw 'defender' I think I just assumed he'd be a CB to cover the injuries there. Makes that Vontae signing even weirder. But a Colombia International will do me fine

Thanks lads. I’ll pass the name on to Gregory. The lightweight and game passes him by bit worries a bit, we have one of those in Dylan McGeouch.
Can he run? We could ideally do with a midfielder that can get around the pitch, box to box.

Harrison Neal is absolutely rapid isn't he? Pulled out of last night's 100m final to concentrate on your opening day fixture.

We're trying to protect ourselves from you lot taking him back in Jan and obviously we want good players in on two/three year deals. If it's all down to Davies himself then fair enough, but if it's Wrexham saying he can't sign permanently then it seems a bit odd considering it sounds like he's surplus to requirements.
Suspect we are trying on 2 to 3 high quality loans rather than the usual squad fillers , the issue could be like with Swindon last year when they had Kemp and Young - have a great 6 months and they are either recalled and played or sold to the highest bidder . Interesting week or 2 as Davies sounds a good pickup and the lad from Luton we are after is meant to be extreme high quality in terms of potential and judging from his loan spell at Woking .

I've heard the rumour Crawley and Stevenage in for Jake Young.

We only have one forward (Heburn-Murphy) plus Mo Faal on a six month contract so we definitely need someone.

We also only have one proper keeper as our back up done an ACL.

It blows my mind how it’s physically possibly for a fit and in shape 22 year old professional sportsman to be that slow.

Some of our fans rate him. I don’t.

Cheltenham set to sign Ibrahim Bakare after a two week trial in which he's impressed in both friendlies. Never heard of him before to be honest, and he was playing for Vancouver FC in the Canadian Premier League last season, so maybe one of those hidden gems.

Think he was at Morecambe 4/5 years ago, but then bounced around non-league for a bit.
Confirmed

I thought he was decent, as long as he sat in front of the defence and had others in midfield with legs. It's that lack of pace in which I highly doubt he'll make it higher than this level. Happy to be proved wrong though.

There’s a part of me that wishes we would just flog Jake Young. I just get the feeling he won’t do anything here. Very much Eoin Doyle/James Vaughan esque. There’s no reason why him and Cook can’t form a very good partnership at this level, but I think Calum Kavanagh has Young’s number. Kav just seems to want it more. Very much a redundant statement based on nothing more than whatabouteries, but an opinion nonetheless.

There’s no denying Jake Young is a very capable striker at this level, but if someone came in and offered £500k-£750k, we should bite their hands off.

If the likes of Crawley and Stevenage are interested it’s doubtful you’d get anywhere near that. The longer it goes on, though, the more his fine spell with us fades.

If Crawley and Stevenage are after him, you’re not getting close to £500k (nor should you)

Jake Young £500k, Vadaine Oliver £860k, Colin Doyle £2.3m, these valuations are fair and accurate and would tbh explain why we can’t shift anyone, “no Mr Sparks I won’t pay a million pounds for your fourth choice right back”.

I am and will always be very fond of Jeff King.

Game changing red card, crucial missed penalty in a final and a nice guy.

But surely it’d have to be that amount, given it’s so late in the window.

The reality is, we don’t have to sell. The onus is very much on the buying club to gauge just how much they want to spend for his services.

16 goals - 4 assists in 25 games isn’t to be sniffed it. He’s young and we have the option for a further year (I believe).

Stockport County.
Apparently Davies, Luker and another deal done. Be amazing if true.
One of the guys on our forum always mentions this Jayden Luker, think he watched him for Woking and was very impressed.

Preston Johnson (Crawley) was asked about Jake Young at the fans forum last night, and said that it was just a rumour. Unfortunately he said it in such a way that he could have been joking, and it's not a rumour.
Anyway (medical permitting) they're signing their striker today, so we'll know one way or another.
But I doubt it is Young. they're clearly acting conservatively and hoping to stay up, rather than recklessly throwing the amount of money at a position that Young would involve for them.

Young comes across as an ambitious guy. Going to either Stevenage or Crawley hardly smacks of that.

Let's not forget this is a player that you've shipped out on loan twice in the last two seasons, hasn't been in your manager's plans hardly at all and was getting called useless by a fair amount of your fans before he went to Swindon. Fair enough if Bradford want to keep him, but it doesn't really seem that that's the case. I'd imagine you're looking at less than half of 500k absolute tops.

Are there clubs higher up the pyramid than them two after him?

Completely agree, btw!

Do remember, it was Hughes who sent Young out on-loan to Barrow and Swindon, not Alexander. When he returned in January, he didn’t play due to injury as opposed to anything else.

Carlisle reportedly submitted 3 bids in January - with Simpson stating our asking price was “ridiculous”. There was interest from Derby and Charlton, too.

I don’t think Alexander wants to sell, but for me, I’d get rid. He’s gonna play second fiddle to Cook regardless and I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see us revert back to 4-2-3-1 given the amount of attacking midfield options we have.

Luca Barrington, 19 year old wide attacker from Brighton seems to be the latest name doing the rounds. Would fit into the 2 or 3 decent loans along with Davies and Luker narrative.
