Might be something in it. Rumour doing the rounds here, too, but I don't think anyone knows for definite if his contract's up at the end of the season.

Would do well at Conf North level as he can get in to scoring positions but that's all really. Would only really work 2 up top as he has no technique, ability to hold up the ball or have any general skill except for inside the six yard box. That already rules him out of Hignett's teams. Think he'd more likely get a Conference National side but you never know, offer him the money and he might be up for it.

He might not have skill in football league standards, but maybe conf north level, with the slower less fit defenders and more time he'll get, he might be able to show off more skill and technique.

True. I think he'd be a good fit for them. Wouldn't complain if he's still with us next year but he needs to up his game to get any starts here.

We're linked with Andy Cook from Barrow. 24 goals in the National League this season. Whether he could step up to Football League level I don't know.

If you play the Paul Cox way, he might do a job. I'm sure they'd swap him for Charlie Wyke if you asked nicely. I know he's out of contract and thought likely to move on, despite the cash available at Holker Street and contract offer on the table. He's no Barry Corr, more an Ollie Palmer or tougher Danny Wright.

Swap our striker who has 2 years left on his contract for a striker that is out of contract and can leave for nothing? :animatedf: Na I think I'll pass

In all seriousness, even though Cook came through our academy, I've never seen him play. Wyke is highly regarded at Carlisle so Cook wouldn't take his place that's for sure.

Can't say I've ever seen him play, but I hope we're looking at better forwards than him. Barrow can take Steven Rigg for free, though.

For what it's worth - Luton are 1 Burnley win today away from a guaranteed extra £500,000 to add to our transfer kitty.

Another 500K now, and another 200K next season if Burnley avoid relegation with Andre in the squad. Means the deal has so far been worth £2.6 million to us, with the potential for £2.8 million. Not bad for someone we spent £30K on...

Not quite right:

£600,000 transfer fee from Brentford.
£6m transfer fee from Brentford to Burnley, of which we were guaranteed £1,100,000.
£500,000 windfall from Burnley's promotion.
£200,000 to be received in Burnley stay up next season.

£30,000 + wages into £2.2m.

Seen him play a few times - not convinced he's going to be good enough, but I also said the same about Matty Taylor at Bristol Rovers.

Seems to be some conjecture on this. Said on the local rags website today that we only get the money if Burnley stay up, not on their promotion so not sure these numbers are entirely accurate.

Someone should read the disclaimer on the Outlaws site before repeating as fact what it says on there!.

Conversely whilst I do accept the disclaimer on Outlaws, there are two 'ITK' posters whose information I trust implicitly. One of those is still claiming its £500k now and a further £200k if they stay up. The Luton Today story seems to be borne out of a conversation on twitter between Mark Wood and Andrew Barringer who had dug up a year old story on the OS that isn't exactly clear.
In fact the story in question says “Should Andre contribute to Burnley’s success, resulting in a successful Premier League spell then we will also benefit further - to the tune of up to £700,000.”

The fact that it says 'up to £700,000' in there suggests that the final figure could be £700,000 but could be less. Were they to get relegated, for example.

It's all conjecture and I don't expect the club to clarify. Either way, we've done really well out of this deal.

Jabo Ibehre was waving goodbye at the end today. All but confirms he's leaving. He wants to return south.

He could be a brilliant signing for someone at this level.

Jabo and Akinde upfront - defenders might as well pack their bags and go home

He is, but he's no Rakish Bingham.

He is simply too good for Carlisle, we don't want to stand in his way as he moves on to bigger & better things.

We're set to miss out on Jayden Stockley as he's off to Aberdeen, apparently. Edited: Now comfirmed.

Also Ollie Watkins has today been linked with Bournemouth, Derby & Brentford.

Next season is going to be beyond rubbish.

Jayden Stockley being confirmed at runners up in the SPL Aberdeen is a damning indictment of how shit Scottish football is. I mean, Stockley's not awful but he's hardly a top flight player!
