No idea how I got this and why it's on my computer.

(He's a massive nobhead btw, bit of a carthorse too, technically ok for this level but he's slow and can't tackle to save his life...had a superb Twitter game back in the day though to his credit)

Sounds like the archetypal Notts player, remember Troy rugby tackling him a couple of seasons ago. He deserved it. Not sure Newport should be too excited.

To be fair, all willy waving has been coming from the Carlilse so far. Expecting Curle to embarrass pep down the road come kick off, Adams will make Ronaldinho get the boots back on and Lambe will have the juices flowing. Personally I can't wait for their visit to meadow lane as champions come Feb

You might be able to score a goal this time, though I wouldn't bet on it with Michael Raynes and Mark Ellis (easily the best defensive partnership in this tinpot league) shielding Mark Gillespie (also the best goalkeeper in the Football League)....

I think we have very different definitions of "senior pros". We have 22 players with professional contracts, but that is not necessarily the same thing.
Don't know why I put "senior" pros - I meant professionals.

Don't pretend you wouldn't be pretty pleased if you'd just signed Adams and Devitt, both of whom I look forward to seeing run rings around poor old Mike Edwards. I'm not sure you can really be making claims about us thinking we're too good given that you fully made us look like Barcelona in both fixtures last season. Same again next season I think.

Not all of those players on pro deals will be part of the first team squad though.

As TFCH pointed out, Jones said he wanted a core group of 20 players to work with (actually, in one of his interviews he made it sound like he wasn't including two keepers in his desire for 20 so it might even be 22), he didn't say he only wanted 20 players on pro deals at the club. Very different things.

I've not seen much dick waving round here from Carlisle. Unless all of a sudden saying "Carlisle have signed _____, happy with that signing" or something as simple as that is now classed as dick waving.

You certainly won't see it from me while we've still got this shit tip of a defence. Zero chance of going up until that is sorted out, even if we did have Ronaldinho!

Hartley in talks with Grimsby and Hartlepool, makes sense. Young family and from the north east. Have him. He's been of good service to us but is slowly on the decline and if we are looking to get out of this division was one of the players needing to be replaced. Great leader and character to have in the dressing room though.

Supposedly Barnsley and Peterborough have both met our asking price of circa £500k for George Moncur.

I don't think it's been mentioned on here, but we're apparently looking to sign Shaun Miller from Morecambe.

We're expecting Ribs to leave as we are stalling offering him a deal.

If you get him you will be signing a superb player. He's an attacking full back who is quick on the break. He can also play CB but is better on the right. He won POTY in his first season with us and at 26/27 years old he's approaching his best years.

To be honest, I was hoping he would've gone to a L1 club as he's certainly good enough, but if Cambridge are puttIng together a strong squad he may fancy a promotion push

Marquis won't let you down, but also wont score enough to ever move much above that level IMO.

Well if Ribeiro went to you I'd be disappointed but he will go to the club who gives him the best opportunity and contract, so it's possible.

Of the eight players County offered new contracts to, five still hadn't accepted the contracts prior to today.
Today, three of those five have had their offered contracts withdraw while Medi Elito will be signing for another club in the near future.
The three to have their offered contracts withdrawn are:
Midfielder Mark Byrne.
Fullback Danny Holmes.
Forward John-Christophe Ayina.

I wouldn't doubt several managers will be interested in Byrne, my player of the season the latest two seasons.

Medy Elito has signed on a 2 year deal. Newport fans, is he any good? Is he a winger?

I don't know about anyone else, but I think Elito deserves his own thread.

Don't think Keano has particularly shone since he left Preston.

Elito is the most uninspiring signing any team will make in this window, absolute wank of a signing!!

Medy Elito has signed on a 2 year deal. Newport fans, is he any good? Is he a winger?

I liked Elito and would have liked him to stay personally. He can be very frustrating at times, but also very good on his day and he was one of the few players we had last season that I felt could make things happen going forward. I don't think we saw the best of him enough, but his style of play is probably not best suited to having to deal with what our playing surface became after winter. We never seemed to play him in a position that suited him best either - probably due to a lack of centre midfielders we seemed to be asking him to be in a deeper role a lot of the time and he is liable to the odd hospital pass from there. As a winger or behind a front two would get the best from him I reckon. At Portsmouth away earlier in the season he seemed to play more as a winger and was brilliant. I hope he does well for you.

Now, have you got anybody at Cambridge who doesn't want to be there that we can have please? :dk:
