Our chief scout reckons we were interested in Green but basically laughed him out once we learned his demands after that injury. Interesting one.

So he'll likely be one of their top earners if not the top one, and there's every chance he'll play less than 20 games in the season.

Only been around this site a few weeks but the pattern is quite routine by now.

a) player signs for club.
b) clubs supporters rejoice
c) other clubs supporters remind you that you're basically fucked
d) the thread moves on to another club fucked over by a positive signing

Welcome back Greeny, a wonderfully hopeful move for supporters of Mtfc to cling to.

Despite being sidelined for the vast majority of the 2014/15 campaign with a knee injury, the frontman says he is fully fit and raring to go and can’t wait until the start of next season.

“I feel fit and ready to go and I just can’t wait to get back out onto the pitch,” said Green, who scored in last month’s Birmingham Senior Cup Final win over Nuneaton Town for Birmingham City.

“I played about four reserve games towards the end of last season and you’ve got no place to hide in terms of fitness because it’s all on heart rate monitors. If you’re not working hard enough then the coaches will pull you up on it.

On how he’s improved as a player in his two years at St Andrews Stadium, he added: “I think they just built me up [to be] structurally better to play the game. I’m probably in the best shape of my life right now. I’ve still got my pace and I’m sure that I’ll be able to get a few goals.”

Very pleased with that signing. Green with one knee would be better than what we had last season.

Understand why other teams doubt he'll be good, it's a bad injury to come back from but it's been done before. It's a good start.

Happy with Green signing at the very least it will increase the attacking threat and if he comes back anywhere close to when he left us he will be one of League 2's top strikers given he was quite comfortable the best in the Conf when we went up and in all honesty dragged us up especially against Hereford.

Looks like Kevin Lisbie has agreed to Join Barnet from us.

Great signing for Barnet, still got it at 36. Only downside, is that he can't really do two games in a week and he can be very injury prone.

He missed August-December for us last season and he was a HUGE miss for us even then.

Take care of him, he will get a standing ovation on his return to Brisbane Road

Only three year contracts we've handed out in recent years are to players in our Academy who we believe will go far and those who we've brought in for six figure fees like Brad Inman (who has been a colossal waste of money). Two years is a perfect length because you never know, Wilder might do shite, get potted and then all of a sudden a new bloke comes in and wants to get rid of these players on lucrative long-term contracts.

Don't blame Oxford for getting Kemar Roofe signed up for three years as they've had to pay a fee for him, but Bury and Northampton handing long-term contracts out like confetti is a dangerous game.

Eh?

Heard the same thing from Hearn pre-season for us and you and then again for Lincoln. Say all the right things, time to prove it. Could go either way, hope for Mansfields sake it goes well, because things are looking bleak for them right now, and they could do without a signing like this going wrong.

What's to explain? you just scrapped staying up last season, likely to be favourites for relegation this season, have an inexperienced manager, money is drying up, players offered contracts are leaving for conference clubs or other clubs in lge 2, and you have signed a player who has been crocked for 18 months which is likely to be billed as your star signing for this summer.

Wouldn't wish relegation to the conference on any club least of all one that is likely to disappear if they drop back down. So I hope Green works out for you.

The players who have left are because Murray has offered what he thinks is value for money so basically he's offered them peanuts and to be a fringe player. We are certainly aiming up not down. Good times ahead

Quoting that interview doesn't do prove much, he's hardly gonna say "Yeah, can't believe they've signed me I'm still so fucked from that injury!"

I would probably give it a while before making too many predictions it's very early days. You have an inexperienced manager that is far from proven at this point and have also signed a player today that could not hold down a place at left back for us last season. Ok I understand the excitement regarding Green although questions marks surely surround his long term fitness but my God the Mansfield forum appears to have gone orgasmic.
You might have a great season of course, I'm just not sure at this point there is enough to suggest it's likely.

I suppose but atleast we haven't just signed a donkey, if you think Oliver is going to tear this league up then think again.

Chuffed to bits with us signing Green. Lets just hope he has fully recovered from his injury and can stay fit.

You'd have thought there'd be a 3-page thread somewhere, considering Hartlepool had to fight off Barcelona for his signature. Literally.

I seen Gerard Piqué sparring with some old geezer, it's safe to say Ronnie Moore got fucked up.
The problem was, Luis Enrique saw him more as a younger long term replacement for Suarez. Barcelona were planning to either loan him out like they have done with Deulofeu or ease him in like they've been doing with Munir.

Obviously Bingham wasn't keen on that, he knows he's ready for first team football, so opted for Hartlepool instead.

I think this may come back to haunt Luis Enrique, I really do. Similar to Ferguson with Pogba.

Looking at the feedback from Mansfield fans on him it's pretty mixed with everything from lazy to not getting decent service but no I'm not expecting him to tear anything up. I would be happy with 10/15 goals from him which looks achievable if he holds down a regular starting place alongside Hyde although Wilcox is signing another striker so he may end up a back up. Honestly I'm not expecting massive things from anyone we sign, I would be happy with just having a decent season.

Nicky Adams, talk to me

Good league 2 player, he's right footed but plays best either on the left wing so he can cut in or play behind the strikers. He doesn't have much pace but always gives a 100%. Poor mans James Milner shall we say.

I think 15 goals is extremely optimistic.

I'd happily wager that we will finish above this season final standings (21st) towards OFF? (That's even with my concerns about pretty much building a squad from scratch via a inexperienced, tactically poor manager in my opinion)

Money is actually increasing a tad this season, the players offered contracts were on reduced terms to be squad players, and Matt Green has got to be worth a shot.

All in All though, despite how dismal things are looking we are still a Football League club ;)
