Wycombe have signed midfielder Nick Freeman on a one year contract after he impressed in his 2 games on trial,he's 20 years old so at last we have a player who is not in his mid 30's

Completely agree, Flaxman. Compared to last year, we've not gone completely gung-ho on older, experienced players, with many proving they were passed their best. It's only natural that we expect at least the play-offs after our form towards the end of last season.

Much more of a balanced squad and not particularly large either, which is surprising with the new loan rules in force. Still a few more to ship out though, I feel.

Post Brighton, Nathan Jones told our local rag we have one more coming in. Was hoping it would be completed last week, so should be imminent. Almost certainly a midfielder and highly likely to be Jake Gray.

Its a bit disappointing though that we've lost out on our top 2 targets however - one of which is likely to be Lalkovic who went to Portsmouth. I'm guessing we can't compete with them in terms of wages, which is understandable.

Lalkovic was a twitter rumour only so who knows if we were actually on for him?

Jake Gray is a central midfielder primarily, Lalkovic is a winger/forward, so even if we were in for the latter it surely wouldn't have been earmarked for the same position.

Perhaps. He has also said, or certainly implied, that Mullins, Hylton, Sheehan, Rea and Walton were all his first choices. On top of that Vassell and Cook were signed when they became available. So if you've only missed out on your top target in one position, it's pretty good going.

good to see for a change the grace brothers -"I'm free" policy of signing every available mercenary parasite available. Hope the new management staff are more subjective in their signings...

Latest twitter rumours are that we've accepted a 7 figure bid from Brentford for Ollie Watkins. Don't believe it myself. Tis has confirmed there are plenty of clubs interested in him so doubt we would accept anything for him just yet.

Would certainly take a big offer to tempt us to sell him.

Don't get me wrong, he is a great prospect but why don't you think the club would have accepted a £1m+ bid for a 20 year old who's had one season in League 2? That's a very good price if true.

Mainly because I think the club would be wise enough to the fact that were he to have another good 6/12 months with us, his price could conceivably double (or in cases like the one with Matt Grimes, triple). It's obviously a hell of a lot of money to us, don't get me wrong. But I don't think there would be many City fans who would be happy were we to accept a bid at say, £1mil at this moment in time.

I was told this would happen a month ago, I like the BFG and wish him all the best as to his abilities, very good shot stopper but very poor distribution. Has a mistake in him every game and for such a big fella doesn't command his area. Most Donny fans would have liked him to stay but Fergie fell out with him.

The Terminator I hear Orient are looking at our right winger Harry Cornick on loan. He's been at Yeovil for a year or two on and off so they'd know better, but think he was well liked there. Way was reportedly asking to have him back just the other week. Usually one of our stronger dev squad performers in those games. Can also play up front depending on what you need.

Thanks for the assessment - I was previously happy with Paul Jones in the short term, but he has picked up an injury which leaves us without a senior goalkeeper.

Everyone wants 'the right man' but I don't think we can afford to be too picky at this stage. Similarly, any player that doesn't have an occasional mistake in them is unlikely to be playing in League Two; something some of our fans always seem to forget....

Very true, I suppose our form of last season didn't help just highlighted those mistakes. He isn't a bad keeper.

Ex-Chelts keeper Scott Brown signs, as well as 21-yr old ex-Sheff Wed and Millwall CB Will De Havilland.

Leicester City are supposedly interested in our head of recruitment Lee Dykes, according to our forum.

I can't see it, to be honest, but he'd be a huge miss if he were to leave. He's just signed a new contract with us, either way.

At last we have a bloody goalkeeper :woo: Ainsworth had us all sweating thinking 47 year old goalkeeping coach Barry Richardson would be in goal at Crawley on August 6th.

personally think Jones is awful. doesn't command can't deal with ariel balls into the box and is far to easy to beat low down from 18 20 yards. not expecting a complete keeper at this level by any means but would be nice to have one that's good at something.

Alex Lawless playing for Yeovil tonight as part of a trial period. Good luck to him, properly love that guy and he's certainly not out of place at League Two level (I'd have been happy to keep him as a squad player but our options were limited by him being the one out of contract whilst players like Nathan Doyle and Jonathan Smith were given long-term deals by John Still before he was sacked).

He's not outstanding in any one particular attribute, but he's solid at most things. Versatile too, can play on either flank as well as central and even did a very passable job at right back a few times. Also has the wonderful quality of the occasional absolute 30-yard worldie in his locker too. Some issues over his fitness though, always picks up niggling injuries that keep him out for longer than advertised which is a shame.

I guess this is the best thread to say that Graham Stack has announced he'll be leaving us after turning down our offered terms.

He gave me one of the best memories of my football watching times so far with that penalty save in injury time of the final match at Underhill. I don't think I'll ever forget going absolutely mental in the stand after that with my dad next to me doing exactly the same! Exactly what football is all about, those moments. He's been an amazing servant to the club and although he's got a bit dodgy over the last two seasons, I expect he had a big influence in coaching behind the scenes and will be a big loss.

He's be a superb pickup for anyone here as a #2 + coach, or a #1 in the Conference where he can definitely do a job.

We've just signed forward/winger Harry Cornick on a 6-month loan from Bournemouth.

Scored a few for the Glovers last year, what's he like Yeovil fans?

From the description we were given of Ryan Hedges they are very similar players. Cornick is very quick, likes to cut in on his right and has a good shot. His crossing needs work and he can be a bit lightweight in the challenge, but he's certainly got the potential to play higher.

Certainly sounds like the sort of player we need as a replacement for Tozer, we're lacking experience in midfield and versatility is always a bonus with a small squad like ours.
