If everyone could stop making bids for Akinde it would be much appreciated.

Marc McNulty to Mansfield is another rumour.

Akinde would do a job here with Danny rose, It'd be like evolving coulthirst who was surprisingly good at holding the ball up for a little guy

As we saw with Cheltenham last season, we'll need to strengthen to be competetive. Those players are good at National League level but we need better imo. Shame to see them go though, top lads.

Don't worry, getting promoted is easy peasy lemon squeezy!

Rumours that we are in talks to bring back the Pontiff, although doubt he would match the 33 goals he got in his last season in League Two!

No idea how you (no offence) are more attractive than Pompey! Very good player

£££. Getting a bit mad now, is promotion to League One really worth that much for Mansfield? Would their crowds even go up that much? Especially considering the number of local teams in this league.

Looks like Hawkridge to us may well be a goer - if he can stick a few crosses on Shola's bonce then that'd be sound.

What happened to FFP? Is that completely dead now?

Clearly Radford has cash burning a hole in his pocket. Akinde would be a great signing for any side but have Manny T actually been linked with him?

Can't see us selling Akinde to any other club in this division and not sure that Akinde would want to join another.

His value is less in this window than January but still going to take a big bid as he has two years left on his contract.

As before, £1m+ for Akinde minimum.

I think being central does help but let's face it, somebody like McNulty could be one of the 'top signings' this summer so we have probably offered a really good contract.

We have not been far off from sustainable when Murray was manager but we are heavily sponsorsed by One Call so I imagine he will ramp the sponsorship up to get around the 55% rule.

It's funny really, I remember a certain troll on Stagsnet and the old TFF who was determined that Radford was a con and didn't have a pot to piss in and had nothing but bad intentions for club. He actually had 90% off the members who frequently posted in the old TFF non-league section believing him, himself and a lot of Grimsby, Wrexham, Luton fans etc have been made to look silly since.

I must admit I personally was fully behind his bankroll option to get out of the conference because the league back then was ridiculously tough, and we would likely be part-time ie Stockport now if he didn't fund it but I'm not too comfortable with him doing it again in the football league.

Him occasionally propping up the budget and paying for the odd small fee (i.e. Danny Rose 50k) is fine but let's see if we keep Evans and who else we sign, I don't think it's going to be the top budget but defiantly top 5.

It makes sense to get from the conference to the league, though. It's a huge step up and significant to keeping a team full time and solvent, like you say.

I just don't get what the end game is with this. Getting any further than League One is going to be incredibly difficult and the difference between Leagues One and Two isn't really that much - 75% of the clubs are basically interchangeable and would be at home in either division. The absolute best case scenario is a Rotherham, getting to the Championship only to find you can't really compete anyway, and they had the benefit of new stadium momentum and crowds. The losses you're going to make this season must be scary - as we know, Notts are losing money hand over fist with what'll be a significantly smaller budget and as good as double the crowds.

Jimmy Spencer signs for Mansfield from Plymouth... Was superb in his (half) first season for us, among the best touch and hold up play I've seen in 30 years, then did his ligaments in a pre-season friendly at Arnold and was never quite the same after about nine months out... it didn't help that Ricardo Moniz never played him the season after that, preferring to run Stead into the ground, and he was eventually released on a free. Will be interesting to see how he does up the road.

Jimmy Spencer signs.

Notts fans, you rated him didn't you? If he's a target man better than Hoban (he will be), i'll be happy.

Spencer was unreal pre-injury and destined for a move to the Championship, but was never the same after that. Came back early to try and help us stay up which wouldn't have done him any good and he just seemed to have lost that bit of sharpness and strength.

His touch is still magnetic and he'll do a job as a target man but just doesn't have that same energy to go with it that also made him a real goal threat.

Don't think we are done for today yet. No way are we after Akinde either, Our fans just think because Evans is getting a top budget in this league that we can buy anyone we want.

Energy is a good way of describing it. He never looked the same Sir Jimmy after injury. He was never blessed with pace but he ran a fair amount. After the injury the movement lessened significantly.

I was annoyed when we let him go, but don't know if I'd take him back now. Spencer also benefitted massively from Grealish laying balls on a plate to him

I do love our fans at times, you've more chance of Mansfield becoming the most desirable place to live in the U.K. (It's currently 3rd :fl:) than us signing akinde

Yeah, that team was completely built to get the best out of him with Murray, JCR, Grealish, Vela and McGregor all playing off him. What a team it was, though, albeit for about two months.

Jimmy Spencer reads like a similar player to Danny Rose but less physical and more technical.

Paul Digby looks decent on paper. 6 ft 4, 22 and experienced at Championship level so could earn the club a fee if he turns out to be any good.

Cowley says Notts are offering higher wages for Hawkridge than we are, so I'd expect him to end up there.

Paul Anderson signed now. Remember him at Forest and he was exciting but not sure he will be the same player now!

He's not. Has lost his pace and doesn't really impact games, still technically good but didn't do enough for me. Wouldn't expect him to get to the byline and get a cross in.

He's local too which I imagine would be a factor.

Would be a solid start I think and probably explains why we somewhat surprisingly released Mark Yeates, as they're similar types of player. Pretty much ever present for Scunthorpe when they won the title down here and obviously must've done a solid job for you lot last season, can't really argue.
