I'll miss Terry should he choose to go. He really developed last season and I know the Cowley's really pushed him to improve his defensive game. Those goals against Macc will go down in folklore and for those alone I wish him the best. In terms of actual quality, he's definitely replaceable and he's not one to push the boat out financially and if he's been offered substantially more money at County then fair play.

Paul Anderson, Jimmy Spencer and this Digby lad.... All very good signings.

5 new signings already! Christ we might actually see some decent football at the mill for once.

Agreed, not a great deal of pace and lacks the physical side to his game. On the plus side seems like Terry has a great attitude and has a good range of passing so any team that plays him regularly should gain in assists with him. I wouldn't push the boat out either for him, he was in and out of the squad a lot this season. If he leaves he will get a good reception at SB and indeed be remembered for the two goals to get us back into the FL.

Our winger options in Anderson, MacDonald, Potter is very impressive for this level.

Mansfield have not bothered with wingers since we won the Conference!

Jimmy Spencer to Mansfield eh?

It's an alright signing - his football brain and first touch is too good for this level, but the rest of his play is generally below this level.

The most appropriate yet perhaps oxymoronic way to describe his play from what I saw of him last season is that he's a League 2 Berbatov...

Make of that what you will!

And if Nathan Thomas is good enough for Sheff Utd then we really have no chance of keeping Carey. He's off to the Champions League if his move goes proportionate to Thomas.

Wouldn't it just be quicker to name a list of players that Mansfield AREN'T signing?

Anderson was very much a love hate player for a lot of our fans. He can disappear from games entirely but also chipped in with a few goals. Still good technically but lost his pace now. Suspect he will do alright with Mansfield as long as they sorted out that cow patch of a pitch.

With Byrom, potter, Collins, diamond and Anderson seems Mansfield are trying to form an old cobblers XI.

Glad this stops fans wanting Spencer back (not that I've seen much clamouring, which itself says it all). He was effective in a team where he could lay it off to 2 unreal wingers and the likes of Murray and McGregor playing off him. Nice bloke, the most eye-catching first touch in the lower leagues but that's about it. Could he have been a good player if he hadn't shredded his knee twice? Possibly.

That seems harsh considering how much we hero worshipped him for a bit but his injury and then form under Moniz have killed any desire to assume he'll recapture what he was for a short period (and even then he didn't score many despite JCR and Grealish embarrassing every full back in League 1)

Collins has been released because he was bang average.

Oi our pitch is beautiful, it was alright last season and now we're spending an absolute fortune on it so it'll be a bowling green next season

Danny Hollands is set to sign for Eastleigh despite us wanting to retain him.

No brainer for him given it's closer to his home in Portsmouth, he'll be a richer man for it and he was offered a 2 year deal when we were only offering 1 due to his bad injury last season.

Absolutely love Hollands but there's just as good out there and as he was one of our highest earners it gives us a lot more money to play around with in that CM position.

I know our budget is bigger this year than last but can't see anyone we have signed possibly with the exception of Diamond being on huge money (I may be wrong).

The club is just stabilising I can't see Radford putting it at risk and whatever we are putting in must be affordable although it will be at the top end of that scale.

Can't see us selling Akinde to any other club in this division and not sure that Akinde would want to join another.

His value is less in this window than January but still going to take a big bid as he has two years left on his contract.
I can't see Akinde moving for a penny less than £500,000.

Clements seems really happy here though, every picture I can find of him he's smiling on them:

It's not so much the players but the speed with which you're signing them - for a player to agree a deal in May, you're going to have to be paying way above their normal market value.

You may be right but the other side to that coin is year after year more and more players are being released and many are ending without clubs at all. So they may see it that being sorted early is of benefit and not taking a risk.

I dont think Evans is the be all and end all but he is a draw it would seem.

What we have seen for the last two years just doesn't correlate with an owner who is prepared to gamble our future. I may be wrong but thats all I can tell you.

Double it kenny
You get £1Million for him.

I always wonder if he's that good, as I've never seen him actually play but 134 games and 80 goals (50 in the league) is incredible. Does it look like anyone would come in for him? Bogle went pretty quickly and hadn't scored anywhere near as many as akinde. I would of thought league one clubs would of been after him but havnt heard anything.

Pretty sure Evans signed him for creepy but he only scored once?

I liked Clements a lot, he was a decent lad and its a shame there were the usual few who chanted against him.

And fair dues for smiling he got told he wasn't good enough for Mansfield (he wasn't and is even further from being the case now) so it's nice that he's found a club where he will be good enough.

Also, it would help if he were played behind the back 2 rather than a defensive midfielder where Murray played him (and every other midfielder)

I'm playing the bore, I'm not entirely sure I'm happy with all the signings so early, obviously half of me is, it's nice that were organised and seem to have a clear idea on how we're going to proceed next season, I just hope it doesn't come back to haunt us down the line.

It's like we've got Haslam in a parallel universe and he's doing everything well. Caring for the club and were much better off the field (obviously not sustainably) it would be nice just to be normal, I'm sure you can relate to that? lol

There are a lot of teams in this league that Clements is more than good enough to play in, but obviously he is never in a million years good enough to play for such a footballing super giant as Mansfield Town so good on him I say for finding his level with us.

Nah, you're taking that out of context.

As I said, he's a good lad and got ability, he wasn't played properly by Murray, and had a chance under evans but it didn work out, though he started promisingly with 2 goals in a 3-0 win over Crawley.

He just wasn't consistent enough, and no, he's not a player you'd be looking for (IMO) if you were to be chasing the top 3 or 7.

I'd challenge you to find a Mansfield fan on here to state something too dissimilar from the fact that He's a good lad, was too inconsistent and wasn't quite what we need.

To be fair we had Clem for 5 years I think and he never progressed. He didn't want it enough because it's quite clear he's got the ability.

Ha, yeah, we finally seem to be getting there, only got the chairman's deranged tweeting to worry about at the minute.

As a fan there's not really a lot that you can do, anyway, it just doesn't really feel like you've got much of a plan beyond giving Evans everything he wants. History says that's only going to work for so long and then there'll be a mess to clear up.

At least we both look set for a good season. Nolan might actually be able to get a team up for the derby, which would be nice.

Luke Waterfall has signed a new contract. Notts County, Carlisle and Coventry were supposedly interested.

That's great news because he was easily our most improved player last season and took his game to a whole new level as captain.

Yeah, it would be good, you've not quite been there recently.

Do love the games against you though, it's a good derby and a good laugh without the seriousness attached like when we play that lot across the m1

Fantastic news, 7 goals from captain fantastic. Are County trying to sign our whole team?

Jimmy Spencer signs.

Notts fans, you rated him didn't you? If he's a target man better than Hoban (he will be), i'll be happy.
Our experience appears similar to Notts. Wouldn't say he was ripping up trees and never looked like a Championship player, but was just looking comfortable when he broke a bone (foot/ankle?) in training. Once he came back he did not look quite the same and in the January signings we brought in better, so go few opportunities. Not a natural goal scorer, but did bring others into play. Based on last year he looked like a decent league 2 No 9. Should do a sound job for you, and with a full uninjured season, who knows he may do even better.

Pleased with the Waterfall signing a new deal. He was certainly more important to get signed up than someone like Hawkridge.

Most improved player last season and stepped up a level when he was given the captaincy and also by having Raggett as his CB partner. I'm assuming Robin's worked with him at Scunthorpe, hence Coventry's interest..
