We've signed Dover captain, Jamie Grimes. Previously played with Kyle Storer and Danny Wright at Kiddy.

We need a centre-back, so sounds like a good deal.

You lot need some experienced league players

Also, Bristol Rovers kept near enough the same squad and they finished 3rd.

Signing better players gives you a better chance of being successful, who'd have thought it? I do find some of these posts lecturing us about our transfer policy rather tiresome though. Just because it didn't work out for Cheltenham this season doesn't mean it won't work out for us. Football doesn't work that way. We're two different clubs with completely different circumstances. I expect us to strengthen anyway, we have the money left over from the cup run after all plus the Cowley's seem to be very well connected. The spine is there we could just do with four or five quality additions. A lot has been mentioned about the likes of Luke Waterfall, Nathan Arnold and Terry Hawkridge yet there's been no mention of the likes of Alex Woodyard, Sam Habergham or Sean Raggett? Funn that. Is that because no one knows about them?

This current lot haven't done too bad though, have they? They comfortably beat Oldham in the cup. They've drawn away at Ipswich and beaten them at home. They've seen off Brighton and Burnley. Our biggest asset is our management team anyway. They managed to elevate a side that had finished 13th the previous season into a 99-point title winning side. Keep them and we'll contend.

It's because nobody has heard of them, more than likely.

I don't really think it's lecturing either to be honest, and I agree no two clubs are the same. Don't take it so seriously mate.

I know it's early but I just think Lincoln fans generally seem a bit overly optimistic (Including ones I know personally) but it's understandable I suppose considering the season you have had. Don't underestimate the step up though.

If ya manage a Bristol Rovers, fair play! I'll wait and see who you sign in the summer.

We I looked to see who we signed after winning the Conference playoffs and the only players to come in who featured strongly in the following season where we won League Two were Michael Bridges and Zigor Aranalde... that said, both of those were hugely influential signings.

I think part of their problem was also because they had promotion clauses in most of their squad's contracts (I'll stand to be corrected on that one). It seemed like a one year gamble to get promoted, which obviously worked, but left them with the same players for another season.

We've got quite a bit of room for manoeuvre, luckily. Only 9 players signed up I think.

It wasn't so much clauses, as keeping our word that those who got us up will get a chance in the Football League. Only one of the players turned the option down.

I still maintain that had we started with a fit Dan Holman, Storer in the middle and a better keeper (Russell Griffiths really wasn't ready), then we'd have had a better start and maintained the form we had last season. Unfortunately, we didnt, we got off to a poor start and when you get in the habit of losing, it's difficult to turn it around We have let a couple of players go this summer who are clearly up to League football, but wholesale changes have been demanded so wholesale changes is what we'll get.

Woodyard and Raggett are known, we've watched both all last season. Keeping these players may prove a problem and I'm not saying it because I think we have a chance of signing them either. Replacing them with the quality of player you will need would be the problem.

Nah, they were considering but their end have reported that they think the jump from NL to Championship will be too great, which it will be.

I think he meant known to the posters rather than Clubs.

Hardy has said that he expects Forest to take up their year's option on Jorge Grant's contract and that he'll either be there or at Notts next season. Hopefully it's so they can get a fee out of us, would be very annoying if he spent another year in their reserves.

Still not really getting my hopes up on it but would be a massive coup if we can pull it off.

WLooking like around 4000ish ST sales and counting after 9 days too.

.

That is higher than most average attendances in this division, to be fair thats a cracking effort. I never really remember Lincoln fans turning up to games, whenever I've been to Sincil Bank, its usually been fairly sparse. Is this the success of last season, or is my memory playing tricks on me?

We were usually good for around 4k-5k attendances last few years we were in L2 to be fair, but the Cowleys have turned this place around in a very quick time and doubled the average attendance in a season (I'd argue that we're closer to what should be our normal average this season than previous ones anyway). It's all very weird how it has unfolded, although it's been 10 years since we last had a 'successful' season (and that was a PO semi defeat to Bristol Rovers in 2006/07) so people have been waiting for something decent to happen.

I didn't envisage the kind of attendances to happen so quickly. We averaged 7.5k after the FA Cup Oldham game in mid-November or whenever it was. That was the game when everything started rolling quite quickly.

I'm just hoping that they'll not be a massive drop off in a year or two if we're not winning about 70% of our games like this season. This season's been a complete freak of one, in the nicest possible way. A deserved freak of a season, mind - we've been excellent. A complete once in a lifetime one in what we've achieved. 60+ games, 110+ goals scored, smashed tonnes of Club records, FA Cup QF and FA Trophy SF.

They'll be some people who think this is the 'norm' now!

Yes, all of that. Also the city has grown a lot in the last decade or so, what with two universities and being one of the fastest growing places in the country. Just shows what a lot of success (all be itone season) after years and years of shit can do!

Big news this afternoon at Vale Park apparently, with a usually reliable source suggesting the White Smoke is billowing over Vale Park ahead of the return of his holiness.

Lee Angol signs for Mansfield.

I'm pissed that we as a club let it happen. He's a raw talent, but he has a lot of it. Great signing for Mansfield though.

that bad?
Poor positionally, quite determined but very limited ability. Occasionally puts in a decent cross.

I'm also surprised he didn't drop out of the football league. Probably on par with Ormonde Ottewill who thankfully we've also let go.

I couldn't work Angol out in his loan spell here. He led the line quite well but didn't get too many sniffs of goal. I’m not sure whether that was down to him or us really. That'll be a £100k+ signing, which is about what we had an agreement in place for.

"He subsequently joined Lincoln City for a substantial loan fee" - No he didn't.

"...and in the main scored the goals and produced the performances which saw the Imps promoted to League Two" - No he didn't. He scored 5.

He's a good player, and once settled into a team, will score goals consistently. Mansfield will make a big profit on him, that i'm sure of. Strong, reasonably quick, leads the line well, and is a very good finisher. Confidence player for sure, and needs to improve in the air for his height, but he's 22 and has a big future.

Really liked him, and i think we as a club are going to regret not keeping him.

Not atrociously bad. Coventry fans were equally scathing about Conor Thomas when we signed him last year. Turned out to be about the worst footballer I've seen in some time.

I'd be surprised if he's an upgrade on whoever he is replacing. Still, there's always hope,

We've signed Marc McNulty from Sheffield United, beating Bristol Rovers, Portsmouth and Mansfield. Decent start to the window for us.

Not 100% convinced he'll make the step up, really hope he does as he seemed like a cracking block but not sure he's FL quality.

Lee Angol is a fantastic signing.

Our summer business should all be done in two more weeks. Evans is not messing around.

Also no incredibly expensive players like we were all hoping for, just a good mix of experience and young quality.

Still expecting Hayden White to sign, he was too good not to resign.

Tom Pope confirmed on a 2 year deal. Absolutely buzzing, if we just get half of what we did from him last time at this level i will be very happy. Much needed boost for the fans to have one of our own and a club legend back.

Surprised in one way about Angol and disappointed in another. Am certain he would have learnt more here under the Cowleys than the vile man that is Evans, still I guess money does talk so can't really blame him for that.
