Luke Waterfall has an amazing name. Please tell me that you sing the Stone Roses ditty at him?

It was like a Bill Oddie XI a couple of seasons back.

Wood, Waterfall, Bush, Beevers, Sparrow, Hawkridge...

F*%£ sake. Kevin Dawson is leaving on a free to join Cheltenham on a 2 year deal.

He's become a bit of a liability from a disciplinary POV, I think he's been booked 17 or 18 times this season, but he's a great midfielder when he's available.

No surprise he's going to Cheltenham, Gary Johnson brought him to Yeovil in the first place.

Heard that we're after Liam Sercombe from Oxford.

Hawkridge having a medical tomorrow according to the Post. Everything i've heard makes it sound like he'll fit Nolanball well and is an upgrade on Yeates, so happy with that.

Sercombe is a good signing if it comes off. I think Hawkridge will do a good job as you say with the way Nolan plays. Will be busy when it counts in the final third hopefully playing balls into Shola

Edit. He's also exactly the sort of player we should have been signing for the last few years. Below 30, proved himself in non league and ready for the step up

Point out to the guy on NCM who thinks that Hawkridge is a pacey winger is very, very wrong! He doesn't beat a man.

That's a Mansfield fan I think who has just assumed that he's like every winger you have on loan for five games in League Two.

Nolan doesn't seem to like quick wingers, having had Yeates and Grant last season who are both much more on the technical/crossing side. Apparently Hawkridge is a Notts fan too, which is nice, but hopefully turns out better than Scott Loach!

Like Hawkridge and will always be remembered as the man who scored the goals to clinch our promotion., but only he got 7 during his time with us but he does set quite a few up.
Very good crosser and passer , can use both feet but mainly right footed but we mainly played him on the left. He can also play in the middle as a playmaker (Moyses played him there sometimes did ok.)
Not the best trainer by all accounts hence the Cowleys only offering him a 1 year deal.

You won't find a Mansfield fan saying any positives to describe Hawkridge mate. He played five times and showed absolutely nothing.

Notts Police were almost consulted to conduct missing person searches.

As been mentioned, Hawkridge did well at Lincoln. I think the offer of more money and an extra year at county (if both true) and Terry being a Nottingham lad all make sense. Couple that with Danny offering him only a year when Farman and Waterfall got two speaks volumes IMO. Will always be remembered fondly at SB and should get a good ovation when he returns, even playing for the Pies.

Sercombe was the best midfielder I saw in this league before he signed for Oxford and then he ripped the arse out of it with them. Seen he's transfer listed, assume it's a discipline issue as he played most every game until about March? He'd walk in to any team in this league I would think, I'd 100% have him over any of our midfielders bar McGeehan (because of the transfer fee he'll attract rather than current ability).

Fantastic news, 7 goals from captain fantastic. Are County trying to sign our whole team?

I assume/hope he's rapidly improved of late?

I know a few others have said he has, which is

Hawkridge was terrible, he tried but lord...

That said, waterfall was a fraud of a footballer in the league and apparently seemed alright in the conference.

That said, the conference last season was wank compared to previous years.

Sercombe's okay but really not as good as some people remember. He's only had one good season in his career so I wouldn't necessarily be expecting him to replicate what he did in his first year at Oxford, although he did do very well it seems.

To be fair, Nolan has shown he can take an average league two footballer and make them a slightly above average league two footballer so we should be fine from the description of both players

We won't be signing flashy players. Just players who can be physical and run lots. We will look to out shit house league two next year

Can't blame Hawkridge for going. A move back to Nottingham (not that Lincoln is far), a longer deal and better money.

The one year deal offered to him probably tells you enough about where the Cowleys see him next season i.e. a squad player, which he wasn't too far off this season.

Technically good, decent with both feet but doesn't have any pace so he's not really what you'd class as an out and out winger. In that respect, he's more of a number 10 but we've tried him there and he doesn't have the awareness to do it.

Wingers in the conference rarely seem good enough to make the step up, Louis Briscoe, Lindon Meikle for Mansfield spring to mind.

Matty Blair evidently is another matter, although his performances against us in the conference were the best I witnessed in our 5 years down there.

I cannot remember Hawkridge but from what I have read I doubt he's going to be good enough, like a lot of Lincoln players that won the championship imo.

We have the best players from this season under contract but still have plenty enough room to add to the squad, for the first time in ages we also have the finances to do it. Looking like around 4000ish ST sales and counting after 9 days too.

Also helps having the Cowleys, because they seem to get that extra % out of everyone that plays for them. They started off the season with a lesser budget than Chris Moyses had and before that we hadn't finished in the top half in 5 attempts.

Not saying it's going to be easy in League two however, it will be a significant step up.

Your summer transfers will make or break your season. Cheltenham tried to compete with pretty much the same team that pissed all over hte Conference and struggled.

We've signed Dover captain, Jamie Grimes. Previously played with Kyle Storer and Danny Wright at Kiddy.

We need a centre-back, so sounds like a good deal.

Yeah I agree, DC has already said something similar along the lines of that about Cheltenham so I cannot see tha happening. Will definitely be down to who we can bring in to add extra quality to the squad.

I think part of their problem was also because they had promotion clauses in most of their squad's contracts (I'll stand to be corrected on that one). It seemed like a one year gamble to get promoted, which obviously worked, but left them with the same players for another season.

We've got quite a bit of room for manoeuvre, luckily. Only 9 players signed up I think.

Signing better players gives you a better chance of being successful, who'd have thought it? I do find some of these posts lecturing us about our transfer policy rather tiresome though. Just because it didn't work out for Cheltenham this season doesn't mean it won't work out for us. Football doesn't work that way. We're two different clubs with completely different circumstances. I expect us to strengthen anyway, we have the money left over from the cup run after all plus the Cowley's seem to be very well connected. The spine is there we could just do with four or five quality additions. When discussing what players can make the step up a lot has been mentioned about the likes of Luke Waterfall, Nathan Arnold and Terry Hawkridge yet there's been no mention of the likes of Alex Woodyard, Sam Habergham or Sean Raggett? Funny that. Is that because no one knows about them?

This current lot haven't done too bad though, have they? They comfortably beat Oldham in the cup. They've drawn away at Ipswich and beaten them at home. They've seen off Brighton and Burnley. Our biggest asset is our management team anyway. They managed to elevate a side that had finished 13th the previous season into a 99-point title winning side. Keep them and we'll contend.
